I really enjoyed the view point from the LenaCam ™! I think she views that snowmobile as a nuisance, and a distraction from the most important thing, which is of course, Lena.
Sam, just a small tip when bleeding brakes. Get a small (or 2 in this case) piece of hose that fits the bleeder screw and an old water bottle. Put the hose on the bleeder and the other end in the bottle. It cuts down on the mess. Keep up the great work. Love your videos. We all make mistakes, but it's what you learn from them that makes the difference!!! PS, your spark plugs are loose...
Hello Samantha. Next time you bleed some brakes, I recommend you get yourself a 1' long, transparent and small plastic hose that you pull over the top of the bleeding screw, where the rubber cap was. You don't need rags or spill it over the brakes and you can see, if there are still bubbles coming out of the brake line and if the color of the fluid looks new. Put the other end of the hose in a small glass or bottle to save it. And always start with the most distant bleeding screw, one at a time. I bet that makes it easier to do the job. Nice video, thank you for it. Sincerely Tom 😎
Don’t know fiddly about snow mobiles. But that segment with the camera attached to the dog gets my video of the week award hands down. 😂 You the girl!!
Coolant air bubbles is a universal problem when replacing coolant. On my Corolla ( and other GM cars I owned before) there is a bleeder in the line but engine needs to be running to circulate the coolant before it is effective. Having to lift your machine to get air out is a bummer. Your tenacity is awesome Sam. Your video skills are top notch too! Great footage with Lena. Keep up the great videos .👍👍👍🐕🐕🐕
Installing a doggie cam shows that dogs are nitwits even when they're not around people. It was funny seeing her try to figure out where you were when you were sitting on the Kubota. They're the best animals in the world. Thanks for the video.
Hello Sam. I'll have a go at explaining how the air bleeder on the coolant system works. It appears your snowmobile has a common pressurized coolant system. The air bleeder screw is there to provide a safe way to release pressurized contents from the highest point in the cooling system, where air pockets are most likely to congregate. Before checking for air bubbles you should make sure your coolant system has no leaks (think pressure test), and make sure you have proper levels of coolant in both the overflow bottle and the rest of the cooling system. If coolant can escape the system or if air can be pulled in through an empty overflow, you will always have an air bubble problem. To purge air bubbles: have the coolant fill cap on and the bleeder screw closed, turn on your engine and let it build up some heat so that the cooling system can get pressurized. Squeezing the coolant hose should indicate if there is pressure inside (have a squeeze before you start so you will know what pressurized feels like). IMPORTANT: DO NOT OPEN THE FILL CAP WHEN THE SYSTEM IS PRESSURIZED AS BOILING HOT COOLANT COULD SHOOT OUT UNCONTROLLABLY. When the system is pressurized, slowly open the bleeder screw. You should get either air or coolant coming out. Allow the air to escape and close the screw when you see coolant coming out. That's basically all there is to it. some background information: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radiator_(engine_cooling)#Coolant_pressure th-cam.com/video/J6cXlPOe9S4/w-d-xo.html Regards.
Being from coastal California , snow mobiles are a mystery to me 😮 . But I see you going in the right direction. Don't dispare 😊 I wish I'd had a GoPro when my hound dog 🐕 was younger! What a trip!
i've been wrenching on things for 45 years and just this year discovered speed bleeders. they are bleed fittings with check valves in them, so you just crack them like a regular bleed fitting and pump the brakes until the air is gone ,they are so great when you're working by yourself and don't have a vacuum pump. they are made by russell engineering and come in all sizes. simple genius for only 12 bucks a pair, i will never look back. i love your videos, it's so cool to see you learning, i try to yell tips into the screen but i guess you can't hear me over here in vermont.😀😀😀 p.s. we just got 14 inches on saturday but it's been pretty poor sledding this season.
When your Dad asked "What are you doing?" I kind of felt for you Sam. I had someone in my life (who died recently) who used to do the same thing. I'd be working on my car or a project out in the street & he'd come out & ask "What the hell are you doing now!?" It may have been well intentioned & Londoners can be very blunt but it made me feel like I couldn't or shouldn't be doing stuff. Maybe your Dad isn't like that but it reminded me of it.
Hello from southern Finland. Here is 12 inch snow and more are coming, it is +1C out. Nice spring waiting for You and Family and The Dog. Wishes Asko, Pimu dog and Mickey cat.
If the skidoo don't have reverse, just back up to a tree or something. Tie rear bumper to tree and drive the trailer away, making sure the skies don't get caught on the trailer. No need to struggle pulling the machine off by hand. Last year I got my daughter a 1998 Skidoo Touring E 380 with electric start and reverse. She loves it and it'll go over 60mph, but she never drives it that fast. A very simple air cooled machine and very easy to work on, no coolant, no oil injection (I removed it).
Hi Sam, You may already know this, but your sled has three positions for the choke. I could tell that you know about "off" and "half choke" but I couldn't tell if you were using "full choke." To get to "full choke" just continue pushing the lever in the same direction another 90°( or 180° from "off"). I have owned 4 Yamaha sleds, 2 from the same era as yours. They always liked "full choke" if they were cold and especially if they were outside and not in the garage. I would start with full then switch to half fairly quickly and then let it run on half choke for a bit and finally no choke once it could maintain an idle without any choke. I don't remember ever flooding a sled. I learned that when in doubt, it usually needed more choke to get it to fire when cold. Have fun and I think you have found the next TH-cam star in Lena! That POV made it seem like we could read her thoughts 🤔
Looking forward to a video on you sprucing up the trailer. There you go, thinking what I'm thinking: take the snowmo somewhere where there's snow 😂 Like some of these channels who lament over not being able to try out a new snowblower because they don't have deep enough snow....well, drive a few hours north where they do have more snow, and find a park or parking lot and have at it.
Bolt plastic fenders on the removable sides ,so you can keep to tilt them, even with fenders still on. To avoid rattle, use a ratcheting strap on the front side of the trailer to keep some tension on both remùobale sides ,it will eliminate rattle. So you can keep removable sides, wich are useful and eliminate your issues.
My GUESS the coolant bleeder bolt got lost and one of the longer housing bolts was used in a pinch. The bleeder bolt does not need to be any longer than the threads in the top of the housing, but it may not really matter.
I loved the shots from the "Lena Cam" as someone called it. I'm sorry I said something about the bleeder bolt it looked like it was 2 to3" long I didn't mean to p!ss you off.
Hi Sam, may want to look for a stock muffler for the sled. Wardens will be all over that can. Would suck to see you get a ticket for trying to have fun. Great vids! Awesome following along
Top it off with coolant, run get up to temp so t Stat is open, jack up and fill coolant till it flows from screw, let down, get it running again and up to temp, lift back up and crack screw till coolant is fully coming out and no more air when it's in air. Hardcore Sledder Fourm u can find a ton of info on your particular sled. Its a handy page to look at when learning stuff
Another super video! Thanks for sharing your “you time” with us. I think you’re doing great. You don’t need to “make people feel better”… you don’t owe anyone - anything. You are a genuinely wonderful young woman! Love you channel. Keep following your trades experience too. I’m an instructor at a college in BC, Canada… I teach electricians… You’re work ethic and dedication to a goal will serve you well!
Image stabilization is a beautiful thing!!! Can you share what camera and mount you used? That was some fun footage, we could almost see the wheels turning in her head as she was watching you walk away from playtime and get out that tractor. I don't know any of the details about the analytics of TH-cam, but just a suggestion....at our house, abrupt endings often leave us scrambling to jump on hitting the like button and we don't always catch it in time and have go back and run a few seconds to hit it...maybe it's just OUR feeble brains that are slow to snap out of "viewing mode" when we want to be sure to lend our support for an enjoyed video... It also just seems classier to have even just a moment or two of wrap up....
if you now try to place your snowmobile a garage with snow and ise cold it wil also be better because even with 5 degreese of frost, an internal part of the engigine can freece to peaces with all. greeting from nick netherlands.
Hello Samantha, not trying to be too picky, but while watching your repair video on the oil pump o ring it appeared that you didn't get the cable attached properly. The round piece on the end is supposed to be seated in both sides of the lever and the cable in the middle. For reference you had a good pic of it while you were disassembling it. Great job learning how to repair your sled.
BTW your missing a hold down spring that wraps around the wide part of the exhaust. You can see the paint is worn away. And on the inside of the pipe on the frame you can see a spot to attach the spring.
The "Lena Cam" sequence was great.
That dog is the best camera “man” I’ve seen!
Great camera perspective... now I know what it's like to play as one of my dogs. Speaking of which... gotta go play with my dogs!😁
I love the dog cam! He's loving that frisbee!

Yes and at least one of the spark plugs is loose.
Ahh I see you found it.

Congratulations dad, you’ve created a masterpiece! The red tractor isn’t half bad as well!
She is awesome Sam
My cuticles are splitting just watching this. Hate working engines or masonry in the bitter cold.
A dog’s eye view! That was awesome Sam!😊
What a beautiful fur baby…..she’s so cute and adorable. Much love and respect to you Samantha ❤️🙏😊

That's cool camera on the back
That was cool the life of your Dog playing that was good thinking
I really think we need some more Lena videos.
Love the dog cam.
I love how Dad is totally nonplussed by dog cam…LOL
I hope you get some snow!!! At least you know when it is time to play!!

Yeah I don’t love it myself, looked Into then they are a lot of money
Love the video taken from the perspective of Lena's back! Hope y'all get some more snow so you can ride the snowmobile.

Beautiful dog ...love the camera mount !...
Might be able to lessen the rattle on the trailer sides by using a ratchet strap from one to the other? Dad has a nice 8N! 👍👍👍
Fantastic. Now I watch two mechanics in the snow on youtube with funny doggos.. lolz.
BTW your missing a hold down spring that wraps around the wide part of the exhaust. You can see the paint is worn away. And on the inside of the pipe on the frame you can see a spot to attach the spring.
Hang in there you can do it
Nice video, Sam! 💪🏻
You can bleed the coolant on an 20-30 deg incline.
Hey Samantha it's me I've subscribed now so let's have some more great content ye ,
Would adding diesel coolant additive for anti cavitation be a good idea?
What do you use for a steady cam attachment, it really works!!!!!!!!!
bet you cant wait to rip around in snow good snow!
I don't have a dog but sure would like to see how you mounted that camera!
How much snow do you typically get there? Here in MN north central we have had the best snow amount in years.
Thanks Sam for your vid 😇💟💟💟 Love and bless you girl.
Your dog is absolutely adorable I love watching her play with you. And you took some peoples view on your machine and got the air out of the coolant.
I love the camera on the dog now . Love the videos keep up the good work.
Ok doggie Cam was the best part of this video 😅😅
Don’t worry about criticism. It’s just more money in your pocket.
