I ordered one a month ago off eBay from a reseller in Kentucky. The unit came with a green 3M socket (a good one!) and works with no issues! Excellent video!

Just noticed on both the Xgecu and Autoelectric websites - pictures of the TL866II plus with black and green sockets.

Heh.. nice one Jonny - I recently got myself the very similar RT809H programmer myself. It's really good fun being able to lift all the flash and eeprom chips of boards and tweak the contents. Cheers!!

What a great tool, no eeprom is safe now ha ha :-D
    Happy zapping :-D
If i was you i would look around for a suitable case for it, perhaps an old electric drill storage case or similar.
Years ago i bought a willem eprom/eeprom/pic/i2c programmer, it was the old parallel port connection.
I saved quite a few mobo's by reflashing the bios, good for general eproms up to 25 volts.
Every memory i had was tested, well i had to lol :-D
The shame is modern personal computers have lost there parallel ports, so it's dead :-(
Any usb adaptor has to be a real parallel port, not a printer only bodge up.

Get a Kess (V2) and a KTAG, both are great for programming ecu and bcm. Like the tl866ii, avoid clone units and buy MASTER units not slaves. Also, spend the money on the optional rig to hold the modules and the spring-pin adapter plates. They save a ton of time setting up and tearing down while programming.

Answering your question in the video... If you program without erasing, everything that was a '0' will stay a '0' and all the places where you had a '1' and need a '0' will become '0'. However, every bit that was already '0' and need to be '1' will stay '0'. Writing flash can turn 1s into 0s, but can't turn 0s into 1s. "Erasing" is really the process of turning every bit into a '1'.

    • @JonnyFix

It's been so long I don't even remember positing the question but I think I did know that and it makes perfect sense. Thank you!

Get one anyway, even if you never flash a mac I'm sure you'll use it for other stuff. I just read out a NAND flash from a dead fish finder. Now I have to mount it somehow and download the owners favorite fishing spots he's been dying to get back!

    I have a M27C1024 - 64K x 16 EPROM in a PLCC44 package and used the PLCC44 to DIP40 converter on the apparently official XGecu TL866ii Plus.
I just can't read it as it most pins show no pins detected. My chip is working fine in on the board it came from.
I emailed XGecu's technical support line but no response.
Any ideas what the reason could be for the no read ?

I tried to read the winbond chip while still soldered on board & a error message keep pop up saying the programmer found short circuit & the protection kick in , it is not wise to try with chip while still on board , I tried with IC removed & it is working fine

If you look on Amazon, they are sold by dozens of companies from around $60 to $150. The biggest difference is the number of adaptors/sockets you get with them.

Hi there I'm ordering this device without a CD and I need your help on downloading the software if you could please

    • @nealg58
      @nealg58 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Go to www.xgecu.com to download the software. There are links about half way down the page. It mostly in Chinese and the download page is almost totally in Chinese but the links are easy to make out. I just ordered one of these units - it came with a green 3M socket - and it works like a champ! I have another programmer - a Willem that operates through the parallel port - that works as well. I wish this one would do the Xicor X2212D chips. Then I could backup a lot more ham radio data!

.. I get tired of buying China. I wanted the ar32 unit.. but they sit and charge between 50 and 300 for every one of those adaptors. The main unit being 500. The quality would be better. But in use, not enough to justify. I don't know why im sharing.. just wonder if anyone else has this same frustration, wanting to buy from your country... but being unreasonable.

The company does not support its previous products. They will orphan you in a heartbeat just to sell you another burner. I bought the TL866CS and was orphaned four months later when they dropped all support for it, including dropping it from later revisions of their programming software. So I'm stuck at revision 6.85 forever. Thanks for nothing.
