See back in the day we were fortunate, and that we got to see performers of the time play on a variety of music shows…… the who at the end of each performance, would smash the shit out of their instruments
Wait til you start getting into Steely Dan, (I was surprised to see none on your list), and start hearing samples you know! Check out Kid Charlemagne by Steely! Pete Townsend, (the main vocalist on this), is a genius songwriter and has much great solo work, as well.
I think that's a pretty good description. And I also like that you called out the athleticism that it takes to do this kind of thing. And that's just one song of a whole set and if they are on tour, that's just one night of a whole bunch. And then all the traveling definitely takes it out of you as well.
IMO, singing basically about how people forget about morality / spirituality once money enters the picture. Their heads and egos swell, and they see themselves as a class above when they're actually losing consciousness of their core selves and the meaning of life.
m.th-cam.com/video/bIQZRvxQ6VA/w-d-xo.html For a different vibe from the who, this is from some of their earlier work and it really captures a lot about their energy at the time. But their songs were all over the map. They're truly were. Boris the spider has to be one of the most beloved weird songs by then. But the link I gave you there is for their song, Pictures of Lilly. It's the story about a teenage kid whose just coming of age and his Dad gives him some pornographic pictures of a woman named Lilly, lol.
I think the song would have been better with Roger singing lead although Pete's voice actually sounds better on this live show than the studio version.
Being a huge fan of Zeppelin, the Beetles, Elton John, where you could put their albums on and just let them play because every song was great… The Who just never hit it with me. Some good songs, but compared to other Groups, The Who just couldn’t stand up. Just my opinion.
I’d love to see you react to Quadrophenia by the Who. You will not regret that journey. 🌊

Epic!!
tight....all as one even with the lil standouts, was One groove...never gets old
They certainly did originality and above all supreme talent.
Just love The Who!
There were so many bands with great musicians back then.
Checkout the bass line with John Entwistle, one of best of all time....BTW, its a keyboard...it has juice going through it.
The Who have many many many great songs. 👍 Too many to list.
🔥🔥🔥
Plus the baseline is incredible!
You should check out The Who- Young Man Blues live at the Isle of Wight, mindblowing performance.
Great reaction. Happy New Year!
Thank you!
This concert was televised, and I saw it. It was nice to see Pete Townshend clear-eyed. It’d been quite a while.
💯💯

These guys were in incredible shape!

Thats real!
Thanks
Thank you 🤜🤛
The last of the great run by The WHO after losing Keith!sought of a rock and disco blend done with class!
We are all different, for me I would take The Who over The Beatles, Zeppelin & Elton John any day, as I can relate so much more to their music.
You should check out Gary Moore’s version of Voodoo Chile and another great band Humble Pie
Hell yeah, humble pie
Thank you!
It was blues, rock, soul.....

Thank you steve!
I actually prefer this live version to the album or any other so far
It hurts my soul to hear someone refer to a song from 1982 as an “oldie.”
It'll probably happen to me too.
Please do the studio version. They left some of the song off of this one.
People that say that are the type that do online dating and are just happy with the pictures and never think about meeting the person...

The loudest band. They played for the back row
