- In this episode, we spoke to the Grammy nominated sitar maestro, Ustad Shujaat Khan - undoubtedly one of the greatest sitar players of his generation.
He is a 7th generation sitar player of the Imdadkhani gharana, has performed in virtually every corner of the world and recorded over 100 albums - including “Lajo Lajo”, one of the best selling folk and classical music albums of all time.
In today’s conversation we looked at his initial struggles & how this impacted his art, the confluence of bollywood music & classical music, the pitfalls that successful artists fall into & the dynamic between his father, Ustad Vilayat Khan & Pandit Ravi Shankar.
