    I've had my Nikon Z6III for two weeks and it's fantastic, the Z 24-120 f4 S is probably my favourite lens for the last year, it's a great lens and extremely versatile. You will see the difference with the native S lens.

      Loving the lens so far, and the autofocus is much better! Not to mention the rendering! I've actually started using a 1/8 pro-mist because it felt a little too sharp for my videos, haha!

    You can always adapt ALL your E-mount lenses and retain AF with an adapter. Cheaper than replacing the lenses - just slap an adapter on the ones you have. Meanwhile Nikkor glass is 2nd to none in most cases.

      It's true! All the wide-screen shots were done on a Sirui e mount anamorphic lens. And then I just got the 24-120 F4 S lens and it's incredible.

    Seems a few people are talking about the DR as if it’s horrible when it’s less than 1 stop difference than the Z6 II. At the level of recovery those videos are showing, most people aren’t shooting of filming at those levels. Somehow they aren’t mentioning other cameras with similar measurements, which are already on the market and have sold well. Not to worry, the Z6 III is selling well and is now out of stock in some places.

    • @felm.974

      Yep, that's why I don't really listen to TH-camrs, they love to make things WAY bigger than they are, the dynamic range of the Z6III fantastic.

    • @autoexoticswestcoast

      Yeah, they're pushing the footage like 5-6 stops in order to make claims about dynamic range. In Stills, the DR is basically par with Z6 II. Regardless, when a sensor is stacked, it takes a hit. The A1 took a hit, the Z9 took a hit, anything stacked takes a hit in low light and DR. Look at the A9 III, took a big hit with the global shutter.

    • @TannerSimpsonMedia

      People like to make a big deal about things haha. The dynamic range is honestly plenty as long as the image is exposed correctly. People complaining about shadow recovery, like bro. Stop underexposing so much and you're golden.

    • @waynerm002

      @@TannerSimpsonMedia What’s interesting is I’ve yet to see a test pitting it against a stacked sensor, which it is more closely related, design wise. The levels or exposure shown is not at a level one would typically shoot.

    • @felm.974

      @@waynerm002 That's a very smart point, it would be interesting to see how it does against other stacked sensors, I mean, I don't like comparison videos but they should be well done and fair if they are going to do that.

      it was sold out for awhile! Super happy with it so far. I was scared about it only being F4, but being able to zoom to 120 I can still get the depth I want out of it. Super sharp too.

    • @bsc001

      @@TannerSimpsonMedia Even at F4, getting close to your subject at 120mm gives a very pleasing bokeh, I find it does have excellent back-ground separation. It is actually a fantastic travel-lens, and even I prefer shooting my MF Voigtländer 40 1.2 on the Zf, I sometimes switch to the 24-120. That’s actually the reason I grabbed a 2nd Zf body, best of both worlds, haha

    • @TannerSimpsonMedia

      I would consider sharing some raw files. I haven't really had any dynamic range issues. It seems to be slightly more noisy than my A7Siii, but that's to be expected with a $1000 price difference. This has been a blast to shoot on so far.

    If for no other reason, when you talk about video, the one advantage Nikon has over Sony is its colours. Sony files are much more difficult to color grade than Nikon. Sony’s AF is superb, but outside of that Nikon is a true competitor that has an edge now…IMO

    hello im hesitating between nikon z6iii and a7siii what do you think is a better camera for video ?

    • @TannerSimpsonMedia

      Well the A7Siii is incredible, and pretty much purpose built for video. I use it on literally every single one of my shoots, and it's low light capabilities are amazing. If your sole purpose is video, you can't go wrong with it. If you have the budget for the A7Siii and good glass, that's probably the best option for video only. Both are very good cameras.

      @@TannerSimpsonMedia A7s3 all day long if you are doing pro work. Until Nikon has dual card recording for video, it's a big risk. I love my Z8, but for big paying jobs, I still use my Sony gear, simply for backup, and many hot card warnings on the Nikon side.

  • @autoexoticswestcoast

    Whats your thought on the DR on Z6 III? Keep in mind no NR when shooting NRAW. I haven't been a fan of N-LOG. I got some great results using ARRI LogC3 or even S-LOG2. ISO 5000 on the Z6 III is the weak point, but obviously cleans up very nicely at 6400. I'm curious about your thoughts. Also be weary on those Angelbird CFB's.. not too reliable. Lexar is better choice. 1TB $290

    • @TannerSimpsonMedia

      Dynamic range definitely isn't fantastic, but the image is very nice. All the clips in this were shot in NRAW at ISO 800 with the exception of the talking head, which was just h.265 at ISO 6400. I've found overexposing just a little, and avoiding the awful N-Log conversion LUT that Nikon provides, it's a pretty clean image. I just had a shoot this past weekend that required some low light shooting, so I should be able to give a more detailed opinion soon!

    Hearing the now 4 year old camera still has better AF than a brand new one is disappointing but I'll wait for your verdict.

    • @TannerSimpsonMedia

      Agreed. Even with the S lens, autofocus was on par if not slightly worse than my A7Siii with a Tamron 28-75 (version 1). I still need to try out other settings, etc to know for sure.
