Have a well trained lifeguards patrolling the island the entire event and lower from 10k to 7-8k ur good. They would have made a lot of money. The cruise ship like u said solved food, bedding, hygine, medical emergency, can even have a dr on board with support staff.

The thing is it's more of the process that was made, the advertising team didn't even know what happened at the "islands" during development and were only payed for the first party just for the advertisement. It isn't the teams fault, it's even their first time. Just because it's a company in which a client was the "bad guy" does not mean to not support them. If you believe in them or not, that's fine. Just don't fill up with lies that could be easily be solved with both research and common knowledge.

I am from The Bahamas and frequent #Exuma for our company #Tours #ExperientialEducation and also St. Theresa Catholic School summer camp so let me just say in my honest opinion some of the BLAME should fall on the Bahamian Government Officials who approved this event. They did not investigate the nature of the event because firstly Exuma is known for best Regatta whereby natives and visitors flock to the island for this major event, as a result accommodations were booked well in advance. Fyre was scheduled during this same time which took away from the regatta experience and sadly many people lost income. Secondly the flight information should have been the first indication of the amount of persons arriving on the island which was a red flag considering local flights were already booked. So I was furious to hear that this happened and destroyed the economy of such a beautiful island. WARNING, if it sounds to good to be true, it probably is not. Bahamas Government, please stop being gullible and investigate before you approve under any circumstance
I've spent a little time in the Exuma chain (Wardrick Wells Cay, Staniel Cay) and feel lucky to have gotten to be in such a true paradise. How did the Fyre organizers not realize that the Regatta was on at that time ??! *Massive* scheduling glitch. Not that it would have saved the "festival". Sad to hear that the dumpster Fyre detracted in any way from the Bahamian economy & beautiful Exuma.

After watching the documentary on Netflix and additionally this video it is clear that this is an issue of not having Completed Staff Work. One word to describe Completed Staff work is anticipation. Staffers must anticipate what the boss needs to be completed in order to take work off of his or her plate. In the case of Fyre Festival, there was no ability to anticipate anything. When staffers cannot anticipate what their boss needs to be done, there is no way to manage up. In this case, there is no managing down either. Because of the lack of leadership, planning, organization, and control that Billy McFarland had, there was no management. This shows that McFarland was not a manager for this event. He had no organization or real planning for an event of this scale which resulted in staffers not being able to anticipate what needed to be done. There was no leadership because McFarland would not tell the entire truth at times. The one word that describes Fyre Festival is deceit. McFarland’s lack of managerial abilities caused this extreme failure of an event. Not to mention he risked the lives of hundreds of people and completely lied to them.
That commercial the "organizers" made before the event was a LOT of hype!! Did they ticket buyers actually think they were going to mingle and party with famous models? LOL!!

i saw a good piece about this last year on the Internet Historian's TH-cam channel. the organizers started out with good intentions, but were quickly in over their heads and they were too embarrassed to call it off even when they realized it wasn't gonna happen
I saw both documentaries last night. The moral of the story is how the rich behave. How they're so easily influenced and bought and sold. It's hilarious to see the elites eat each other. Also don't confuse rich millennial's with poor millennial's. Poor millennial's have more important priorities like working and fighting for a new government. The part that gets me is ,before the festival people who was going /or had paid was calling ,texting and emailing them for info on certain things and was not getting any responses or informative answers, days / weeks before the event and they still went. That it self would have made me pause and say hey something not right and cancel or not go.
Thing is, in order to do it properly would cost a metric ton of funds. The price for the ticket would be only in the range of the ultra-wealthy, and in that case it would be less likely they’d sell out.

Just watched the Hulu doc, Billy is a sociopath. No remorse, no emotion (unless positive regarding his previous endeavors), deflects or looks blankly when asked the more difficult questions. Essentially, a less intelligent, dense Jordan Belfort...
Billy McFarland is a prime example of what Completed Staff work is not meant to be. The only thing McFarland accomplishes from Completed Staff Work is the manager's responsibility to make decisions. He definitely made decisions, but he made all of the wrong ones. This is likely because he failed to anticipate anything, which ultimately defines Completed Staff Work. In the video he even said that he did not expect to need so many resources for this event. He made decisions without any true thought behind them. Not only did he fail, but his staff failed him as well. Nobody beneath McFarland took initiative to lead their leader. It could have been helpful for someone to speak up and tell him that he was in over his head and that things were getting out of hand. The staff is meant to take things off the manager's plate in order to help things run smoothly. If McFarland received proper guidance, he may have known how to manage the event or to cancel it. Ultimately, the Fyre Festival is an example of a failed attempt at Completed Staff Work. Anticipation was absent from the entire project. It was so absent that nobody suggested it may fail until the event had already occurred disastrously.
After watching this video, it is clear that Fyre Festival was not an example of Completed Staff Work. Completed Staff Work revolves around anticipating needs, which was clearly lacking at the festival. Because there were so many moving parts in regards to the festival, such as lodging, food, and transportation, no problems could be anticipated and thus resolved before having the chance to happen. Billy McFarland was working in his own interest by putting on Fyre, so his staffers had no clue about what to even anticipate. McFarland failed at managing the event, and his workers also failed at trying to help him. It can be seen that McFarland was too in over his head with Fyre Festival and was really only putting this on to make money. His poor management skills did not allow for the staff to be able to anticipate any needs and stop problems from occurring. If Completed Staff Work had been implemented in the planning and execution of the festival, things could have gone much smoother, and perhaps the event would have happened. Fyre Festival is a prime example of why managers should use Completed Staff Work in their practices because of how disastrously disorganized the whole event was.
The only people I feel sorry for are the people of the Bahamas who didnt ask for this shit. They didn't need a bunch of arrogant Americans making a mess in their country and then disappearing without paying the bill. I have watched this unfold since they announced it a few years ago. At first this sounded like an amazing trip and opportunity, and almost like the even more exclusive version of Coachella. This was not showing completed staff work for a list of reasons, but the main reasons are because the whole trip was a hoax and completely unethical from the start. Each executive person involved knew what he or she was doing wrong, yet they all kept quiet and continued to run with the idea. Consumers were promised an exclusive trip with private villas and in-villa service. When they arrived they were given the complete opposite experience that they signed up for. Lastly, the leader of the group did not even take responsibility for what he did.
Completed Staff Work, is when the Staffer works and the Manager decides. In the case of the Fyre Festival Video, it does not show completed staff work because it led to the event itself to not live up to the expectations that it had advertised. The whole point of completed staff work is for the manager to simply complete four actions; plan, lead, organize, and control. In this case, Billy McFarland was not able to fulfill the four actions. The staffers may have done their job of doing the work and completing a recommendation, but in the end, it was McFarland that decided to go on and plan the event. To plan a big event like the Fyre Festival, there are many things to take into consideration like the artists, the ticket costs, etc. In the ‘planning’ step, McFarland and his staffers would have noticed that he underestimated the costs of hosting the event, and here is when he should have spoken out to the public. This would have been more understandable, and would have prevented many individuals from purchased tickets. This is where McFarland made their first error, because at this stage, they could have gotten rid of the idea of hosting the Fyre Festival, and would have prevented many of the issues that followed.

I think the saddest part about this whole event was there was whistleblowers, weeks, months before the event was to happen providing factual information about the event but because of all the hype from the celebrities advertisements people didn't research it enough and got screwed.

I am from The Bahamas and frequent #Exuma for our company #Tours #ExperientialEducation and also St. Theresa Catholic School summer camp so let me just say in my honest opinion some of the BLAME should fall on the Bahamian Government Officials who approved this event. They did not investigate the nature of the event because firstly Exuma is known for best Regatta whereby natives and visitors flock to the island for this major event, as a result accommodations were booked well in advance. Fyre was scheduled during this same time which took away from the regatta experience and sadly many people lost income. Secondly the flight information should have been the first indication of the amount of persons arriving on the island which was a red flag considering local flights were already booked. So I was furious to hear that this happened and destroyed the economy of such a beautiful island. WARNING, if it sounds to good to be true, it probably is not. Bahamas Government, please stop being gullible and investigate before you approve under any circumstance

After watching the documentary on Netflix and additionally this video it is clear that this is an issue of not having Completed Staff Work. One word to describe Completed Staff work is anticipation. Staffers must anticipate what the boss needs to be completed in order to take work off of his or her plate. In the case of Fyre Festival, there was no ability to anticipate anything. When staffers cannot anticipate what their boss needs to be done, there is no way to manage up. In this case, there is no managing down either. Because of the lack of leadership, planning, organization, and control that Billy McFarland had, there was no management. This shows that McFarland was not a manager for this event. He had no organization or real planning for an event of this scale which resulted in staffers not being able to anticipate what needed to be done. There was no leadership because McFarland would not tell the entire truth at times. The one word that describes Fyre Festival is deceit. McFarland’s lack of managerial abilities caused this extreme failure of an event. Not to mention he risked the lives of hundreds of people and completely lied to them.

Billy McFarland is a prime example of what Completed Staff work is not meant to be. The only thing McFarland accomplishes from Completed Staff Work is the manager's responsibility to make decisions. He definitely made decisions, but he made all of the wrong ones. This is likely because he failed to anticipate anything, which ultimately defines Completed Staff Work. In the video he even said that he did not expect to need so many resources for this event. He made decisions without any true thought behind them. Not only did he fail, but his staff failed him as well. Nobody beneath McFarland took initiative to lead their leader. It could have been helpful for someone to speak up and tell him that he was in over his head and that things were getting out of hand. The staff is meant to take things off the manager's plate in order to help things run smoothly. If McFarland received proper guidance, he may have known how to manage the event or to cancel it. Ultimately, the Fyre Festival is an example of a failed attempt at Completed Staff Work. Anticipation was absent from the entire project. It was so absent that nobody suggested it may fail until the event had already occurred disastrously.
After watching this video, it is clear that Fyre Festival was not an example of Completed Staff Work. Completed Staff Work revolves around anticipating needs, which was clearly lacking at the festival. Because there were so many moving parts in regards to the festival, such as lodging, food, and transportation, no problems could be anticipated and thus resolved before having the chance to happen. Billy McFarland was working in his own interest by putting on Fyre, so his staffers had no clue about what to even anticipate. McFarland failed at managing the event, and his workers also failed at trying to help him. It can be seen that McFarland was too in over his head with Fyre Festival and was really only putting this on to make money. His poor management skills did not allow for the staff to be able to anticipate any needs and stop problems from occurring. If Completed Staff Work had been implemented in the planning and execution of the festival, things could have gone much smoother, and perhaps the event would have happened. Fyre Festival is a prime example of why managers should use Completed Staff Work in their practices because of how disastrously disorganized the whole event was.
The only people I feel sorry for are the people of the Bahamas who didnt ask for this shit. They didn't need a bunch of arrogant Americans making a mess in their country and then disappearing without paying the bill. Hope there are warrants out for all of them should they ever set foot in that country again.

I have watched this unfold since they announced it a few years ago. At first this sounded like an amazing trip and opportunity, and almost like the even more exclusive version of Coachella. This was not showing completed staff work for a list of reasons, but the main reasons are because the whole trip was a hoax and completely unethical from the start. Each executive person involved knew what he or she was doing wrong, yet they all kept quiet and continued to run with the idea. Consumers were promised an exclusive trip with private villas and in-villa service. When they arrived they were given the complete opposite experience that they signed up for. Lastly, the leader of the group did not even take responsibility for what he did.
Completed Staff Work, is when the Staffer works and the Manager decides. In the case of the Fyre Festival Video, it does not show completed staff work because it led to the event itself to not live up to the expectations that it had advertised. The whole point of completed staff work is for the manager to simply complete four actions; plan, lead, organize, and control. In this case, Billy McFarland was not able to fulfill the four actions. The staffers may have done their job of doing the work and completing a recommendation, but in the end, it was McFarland that decided to go on and plan the event. To plan a big event like the Fyre Festival, there are many things to take into consideration like the artists, the ticket costs, etc. In the ‘planning’ step, McFarland and his staffers would have noticed that he underestimated the costs of hosting the event, and here is when he should have spoken out to the public. This would have been more understandable, and would have prevented many individuals from purchased tickets. This is where McFarland made their first error, because at this stage, they could have gotten rid of the idea of hosting the Fyre Festival, and would have prevented many of the issues that followed.
