凍りつく母親と、そのテレビに映る
迫り来る津波が鮮明に記憶に残ってます。
真っ黒の波が飲み込んでいってクラクションが鳴り響いて本当に本当に怖い。もう2度とこんなことなりませんように。そして天災の怖さを残してくださってありがとうございました。

宮古出身です。この市役所のすぐ近くで親も働いており、信じられない思いで神奈川から見ていました(幸いにも命は無事でした)。
この時浸水したのもあり、今後津波が来たときのリスクを考慮し、この撮影がされた宮古市役所は昨年2020年で解体されました。
帰省する度に変わっていく慣れ親しんだ街の姿が切ないです。
子供の頃から祖父母に津波の怖さを教わってきたけど、それを聞いて育った親世代(チリ地震津波や十勝沖地震での津波は体験済み)もまさか生きている内にこんな大津波が来るとは思っておらず、元から群発地震が多く、この3.11の前日に同じような強い地震→津波警報→不発という流れがあり、どうせ今日も来ないだろうと思い込んで多くの人が避難が遅れて犠牲になりました。
田老に住んでいた叔母も津波の怖さを知識として知っていながら、一旦職場から高台避難したにも関わらず大丈夫だろうと貴重品をとりに自宅に戻ってしまい犠牲になりました。
地元出身として、親戚や友人を失った者として、絶対に忘れられないし忘れてはいけない。
10年前とは思えず、つい2-3年前の事のような感覚です。

I am Japanese.
I was in western Japan at the time of this earthquake twelve years ago, so I was hardly affected by the earthquake and tsunami.
But when I saw those images, I immediately realized how serious the situation was.😢
I am grateful to the people of many countries who mourned the victims and offered their support at that time.🙏
More than ten years later, my heart is still with all those who died that day.
May such a tragedy never happen again😢🙏

宮古出身の母がよく言っていました。津波が来たら、絶対に振り向くな。振り向いたら動けなくなる。高台だけ目指して走れ。って。他の映像で、振り向いた方が棒立ちのまま波に飲まれた様子を見ました。あの黒い海に人や建物、築き上げた様々なモノを飲み込んだと思うと...。明日は地元で「祈りの灯火」という、追悼式のボランティアに学生として行ってきます。
私たちは、このようなことが二度とないように祈り続けていきそして、非常時に素早い行動をとれるようにしていかないといけませんね…
今年で10年ですが、このようなことが二度起きてほしくないです…

もう色々な人に言われていますが、今でも当時の映像を見ると、言葉が出なくなります。逃げている人へ叫び続けていた人達の声を聞いているだけで胸が痛いです。
この時私はまだ幼稚園生で、東京に住んでいたので、地震の揺れは体験してもちろん怖かったものの、悔しいことに当時のことをもう忘れかけています。でもこの映像を見ていると、この場にいた人達には本当に忘れられないトラウマになってしまっただろうなと思います。
綺麗事、大袈裟と言われるでしょうが、本当にこういった動画や情報から目を背けてはいけないと思います。どんなに辛くても。震災から5年後私は南三陸へ行きましたが、たくさんの人が復興に取り組んでいたのを覚えています。私にできることは募金くらいしか無いかもしれませんが、応援しています。
正直手が震えて頭も回らなくて、文が若干おかしいんですが、コメントを打たずにはいられませんでした。
確かに私は、毎秒こんな事を考えていられる程できた人間では無いでしょうが、数日経てば私はいつもの平和ボケに戻ってしまうでしょうが、この動画を見てもなお、しらみ潰しに否定し続けるようなどうしようもない人達よりはずっとマシだと思っています。
もう11年経つのですね、忘れないようにまた来ます。

The earthquake was the same. We got them several times a week so at first thought nothing of it. But as the foundations starting cracking, ceiling tiles fell, and the Japanese people started running we all followed them out of our building.
That's the way of tsunamis.
That's because the source of it all is far away the impact is not as severe in beginning because it's reasoning of what's actually developing its not close.. if it was closer would've been more extreme no calmness at all

私は宮古出身です。当時は小学1年生で、修了式を終え帰る準備をしていた頃に震災に遭いました。
高台に避難していため、がれきなどが流される音しか聞こえませんでしたが、とても怖かったです。。。
あれから12年、今も復興途中ですが、震災を忘れずこれからの防災対策等も心がけていきたいと思っています🥺

東北に住む事になって色々な被災者の話を聞いたけど、話す時表情がみんな暗くて現実を知った。関東だと震災後数ヶ月したらみんな忘れ始めたけど。やっぱり忘れちゃいけないと思った。

私は今16歳で、当時は年長でしたが、すごく怖くてお母さんにずっとしがみついていた思い出があります。バタバタと倒れる家具、不安に満ちた近所の方の声、鳴り止まない緊急地震速報。思い出すだけで、震えて涙が出ます。この日を絶対に忘れてはいけないと思うし、後世にも語り継がないといけないなと思いました。

I was about 17 when this happened. Moment of silence for all of the Japanese that lost their lives, family members, and or loved ones that lost their lives that day. So terrifying. I grew up in south central Alaska so I'm no stranger to earthquakes but 90% of the buildings in Alaska are under strict earthquake code ever since the 1964 good Friday quake that is still the largest earthquake in recorded history in North America. I was even in Alaska during the recent 8.1 earthquake. Luckily the quake was inland so there wasn't a tsunami but still really scary and humbling.

旧地名で水に関するものがつく場所は必ず自然災害時に水害が発生しますね。昔の人が分かるようにそうしたのですが、今では不気味ということで○○が丘等の名前に変えられ、分からなくなってしまっています。旧地名を調べ、災害に備えることも可能なんです。

I can't imagine what experience these people have to the point they can say these thing aloud.
The thing that is so scary is that the water just keeps coming. It's relentless and unstoppable. It's not a big wave like the movies. So sad for all the ppl who died.
It’s because there were two waves. The earthquake had two parts. A strong slightly longer quake, it quieted down and than a short extremely intense quake right after.
There’s a video of a coastguard boat that was at sea. The first wave was big to begin with! But even with the higher sea levels, the second wave was massive. Pushing in behind the first wave further inland and breaching past everything.
You can see in some videos how that second wave crests depending on the land.
Incredibly powerful. No stopping it.
Yes, it's not a big wave like the movies. In fact it can look like a relatively small wave at first, but it has huge volumes of sea behind it. It's a violent tidal surge when it hits land.

永遠に残しておかなければならない映像ですね。日本が島国である以上、これからも海からの恩恵を受け人々は海を愛し続けるのですから。だから津波が来るたびに人が死んではいけないのです。確かに災害対策はいたちごっこなのかも知れません。でも無意味にその為の予算を削ったり想定外を言い訳にしてはならないのです。過ちは二度と繰り返してはなりません。
