Would love one of these, in this particular livery too, but a little strapped for cash at the moment. Wonderful review of the model. Bachmann have done a superb job with this. Great work!
I remember about 5 years ago it must have been, we had one of these at the Watercress line. Only saw it running once but there was something about it that has stuck with me for all this time, making them one of my top tank engines! Awesome model and I'd probably be buying one right now if I actually had a layout to run it on ;D
For some reason I have this vivid recollection of it accelerating light-loco out of Ropley, bunker first towards Alresford. It struck me that it accelerated really quickly, and there was also a gold plaque on the side but I can't remember what it was- something about lottery funding I think. I'd have been about 10 then and time has gone by - but I'm still into trains!
I know the ever engine your on about and it the same one that did it for me when she was bases at the East Somerset Railway. I believe it's 30075, owned by the Project 62 group, now based at Shillingstone with her and her sister. She's really a Yugoslavian built Class 62, which was a copy of the S100, so there's a few different features that make it stand out. The group have converted her to look more like the SR USA, and really have done a good job, which I think is what the Lottery Plaque marks. So can't wait to see her back in steam again one day! :)
Hmmm! Well I have to say your reviews are getting better by the day my friend. You would have to be one of the best reviewers of British models out there I reckon. And no I'm not crawling, I mean ever word I say. In fact I'm looking for a suitable shunting locomotive for Mount Oxfordshire. To relieve duties from the 7F and the N. This looks to be a great further addition possibly to the fleet. Have to check with my railway model shop, the Orient Express to see if they can order one for me from the works as it were. Great review and thanks for sharing with us Callum. Always a joy to watch these reviews.
Thanks ever so much indeed mate! Really means a lot! Oh yes, one would be perfect for shunting duties on Mount Oxfordshire. Though the only way to get your hands on one is to directly order one from Model Rail. Here's a link to their page, lots of stunning liveries on there I must say ;) www.modelrailoffers.co.uk/c/1084/Steam-Locomotives Glad you enjoyed and thanks ever so much!
Great review Callum, such an unusual looking but beautiful engine, now it's time to get one of my own I think ;) thanks for sharing. Keep the faith - Callum
Thanks ever so much Callum! Glad you enjoyed! They really are stunning models indeed! Got to be one of Bachmann's finest to date! Highly recommend! Plus so many colours to chose from too ;)
Thanks ever so much indeed mate! It's been a pleasure to do so :) Really is a stunning model indeed! Got to be one of Bachmann's finest to date! Highly recommend!
Great review as always mate. What a beautiful model. Sound like there are of nice liverys of this locos coming out. looks like a beautiful runner. Great work. Thanks :) Ryan
Thanks ever so much again mate! It really is a stunner indeed! Got to be one of Bachmann's finest to date! Highly recommend! There certainly are plenty of liveries to chose from. Really are some bright ones too and they all look great! Very tempting indeed!
They look great Callum thanks for the review, I paid up front four years ago for MR104 and its not even listed on the website now, I'll have to ring and see whats happened (typical of my luck !) Stewart
They certainly do indeed Stewart! Trust me, it's well worth the 4 year wait! :) Got to be one of Bachmann's finest to date! Highly recommend! Can't wait to see yours when it arrives!
Bachmann have made a nice detailed model here ,are we seeing the dawning of a new age of highly detailed ,decent running models for our hard earned wonga ? Nice review ....Andy
They sure have done an outstanding job indeed! Really is a stunning model! Oh yes, hopefully so. :) A full running session will hopefully be on the way very soon :)
Yes, there are a number of Wartime or WD versions on offer. Though some of based after the War. See Matts already provided a link. :) They sure are stunning models indeed! Got to be one of Bachmann's finest to date! Highly recommend!
Thanks ever so much Rob! She sure was indeed! Such a powerful and interesting machines! Got to be one of Bachmann's finest to date! Highly recommend! Glad you enjoyed!
Very nice indeed. Great locos aren't they! I put up a video yesterday of MR - 104 30064 in BR Green preserved at the Bluebell railway but I was not too happy with the finished video so took it down. I have almost finished a remake of the video but it is quite similar to yours so not much point now I guess. Never mind. Great work and another excellent review.
They sure are indeed! Got to be one of Bachmann's finest to date! Got it in my to watch list. Really does look smart in Green. There's always a point to putting the video up. :) Like me you must of spent a long time doing it, so would be such a shame not to use it. When I get a bit of free time, I'll give it a good watch :)
Agreed, one of the best produced I have seen. Thanks for taking the time to watch what I produced in the end. I did spend quite a while doing it, especially as I did it twice.
this looks like a very good model, I cant wait to get mine, and then, of coarse, a review will go up on my channel. I bought the BR late one, so it will be very similar to yours!
I wasn't that keen on the model when i saw it at the bachmann display's at Alexander Palace but now im tempted. The detail looks really good and sure looks like a great runner but i think i might hold off for now.
#30069 was built by the USA Vulcan Iron Works in 1943 for the U.S. Army and was later sold to the Southern Railway as their #69. She became BR #30069 in 1948 and was withdrawn from active service on July 31st, 1962. It was scrapped at Cashmore's Scrapyard in Newport on March 31st, 1968.
Fantastic review of the model. It is a great model to on any model railway layouts in different eras and if I great one I will have it in British Railways late logo version. Are you going to see the real locomotive in action at the Kent & East Sussex or at other heritage railways such as Avon Valley & Swanage Railways in the near future?
Thanks ever so much Joe! Got to be one of Bachmann's finest to date! Highly recommend! Oh yes, they do look smart in British Railways Late Livery. Yes, would love to see one again at some point. Hopefully it would visit the AVR or Swanage at some point ;) Glad you enjoyed
I believe there is one on the Allentown And something Railroad being restored Edit: yes it’s in America Edit 2: and it’s in Pennsylvania we’re it was built in Pittsburgh
Hey Callum! Had to check this vid out as im aftr one i think ;) i have my friends on loan, and is it just me, or are they a underscale?? It seems really small to me? Not wot i was expecting wen i gt it out of box! Any thots?
Thanks ever so much Matthew! Think one will look superb on your layout! What livery will you be going for it so? :) I shouldn't think so, they look about perfect size to me. It really is surprising how small they actually are compared to other locos. I remember seeing the one at KWVR in the shed next to Austerity pannier, and it was a bit small than those two :)
SDJR7F88 been a fan of that loco since i was young! I saw it under restoration at Ribble few month ago, im THOROUGHLY lookin forward to its return with the Ivatt, thats gonna make one awesome day of photography!
Would love one of these, in this particular livery too, but a little strapped for cash at the moment. Wonderful review of the model. Bachmann have done a superb job with this. Great work!

I knew I'd seen one running before. I know what you mean when you say there's something about it, it really made a lasting impression on me too.

Excellent! Truly is a stunning little model :)
SDJR7F88 I can't agree more!
Interesting nobody has noticed the combination lever and union link are the wrong way round in the video
Ah thanks for pointing that out. Have rolled over when I got it out the box. Seems to run perfect fine with it though
Fab review and a nice looking model as well. Not an issue with the model but I have always found that Walschaerts valve gear does look right on 0-6-0s
Thanks ever so much mate! It sure is indeed! Got to be one of Bachmann's finest to date! I love it ;) Looks so over powered ;) Glad you enjoyed
I wasn't that keen on the model when i saw it at the bachmann display's at Alexander Palace but now im tempted. The detail looks really good and sure looks like a great runner but i think i might hold off for now.

Why does the smokebox door look like the ones in uk than in america
These locomotives were modified for use on the UK network, so received more conventional cabs and features :)
Looks good, wish they made one in N Gauge
Sure is a stunning model indeed! Must say that would be interesting to see one in N! Judging by the size of this model is will be extremely small!
It would be great if they did one in WD grey
Hopefully one day :)
SDJR7F88 yes hopefully
I believe there is one on the Allentown And something Railroad being restored
Edit: yes it’s in America
Edit 2: and it’s in Pennsylvania we’re it was built in Pittsburgh
Thanks for the info! Interesting to hear there's some survivors in the US
SDJR7F88 your welcome
I also plan on getting this Bethlehem steel version of this engine (not sure if it’s still around
