I love this. Thanks for diving into some of the greatest times and songs of Pink Floyd. When I heard Piper at the Gates of Dawn, at about 12 years old, with some weed to embellish the moment, I was hooked forever. I loved the early stuff on the first two albums, but as they morphed in a more psychedelic sound with More, Ummagumma, Atom Heart Mother, and Meddle, they fed my trips with LSD on more days & nights I can say. When I listen to If, Summer 68, and Fat Old Sun, I love the softness and mellow acoustic sounds and singing. Please continue to react to the early stuff. I’ve seen hundreds of reactions to Comfortably Numb, Wish You Were Here, etc. I love all of it, but enjoy the trips back before the made it big with Dark Side of the Moon and the “twangers” heard them on AM radio with Money!! Thanks man!!!!🙏♥️
I don't even know why I bought the AHM CD back in the 90s, but I did, and I listened to it many times, this was the standout track for me. For me, it was one that grows on you the more you listen to it. Also, once you really follow the lyrics, you realize this is a rather brutal song about a road musician's "one night stand", (REM would later tell the same story more obliquely in The One I Love)
@@thewolfeden4766 Cool! Now, I did say "obliquely" on purpose, because the R.E.M. song is almost always misunderstood to be a true love song. It is NOT. The band knew what it was though, and thought it was rather obvious, and was later kind of creeped-out when couples in the audience would cuddle up during a song that they knew was about "using and losing" a succession of sexual partners. Summer '68 is the same kind of story...and when Wright says "how do you feel" I think it is ironic and he doesn't actually care at all. Also, the line "Tomorrow brings another town, another girl like you" is rather echoed by REM with "Another prop, has occupied my time" in their song. (now, I would like to know if Stipe was even aware of Summer '68 when he wrote the words for The One I Love... I suspect not. More like an instance of parallel songwriting)
I consider this one of Pink Floyds very best. Hope you have never heard The Atom Heart Mother Suite, so we can watch your reaction. AHM paved the way for Meddle (Echoes), but was quite unlike anything anywhere before it. In fact, I was slightly disappointed in 'Dark Side' because I knew that the band was about to move from something only the wierdos like me knew about, and into the more mainstream realm. No more Furry animals Grooving with a Pict. (Not knocking Darkside, but it just wasn't the same ever again. They just got downright depressing.) Thanks for playing this, as it caught a moment of transition. Anyone else feel the same? Great reaction that caught the joy in this piece.
Not Pink Floyd but Susanne Sundfør. 1 "Undercover" (Live) at Stoller Hall. 2 "White Foxes" Official video , or Live at Nobel Peace Prize Concert. 3. "No One Believes in Love Anymore". 4 "Mountaineers" (featuring John Grant) 5. "Reinkarnation". To start with ...
If you want a Beatles influence, try The Narrow Way. It is a Gilmour offering and sounds like a cut and shut job between Floyd and the Beatles. This may because he was cosying up to Paul in the hope of joining the Beatles himself. Glad it did not work. His style would have been wrong for them and it would have ruined both bands if that had happened.
I guess I just consider myself a pretty big fan so it’s exciting to know that there are songs I haven’t come across before. A lot of songs also get added to compilation albums or mixes too!
I love this song! And I was born in the summer of '68 so it gives me an extra feeling. 😊

Why are you surprised you haven't heard it as you clearly can't have heard all of Pink Floyd's albums ? Ridiculous.
