HBO's The Newsroom Sloan Sabbith and Don Keefer (Best Show on Television)

- If there was ever a reason to order HBO it is for this show. Probably the best things on television. I'm trying to promote it to everyone and this clip montage would appeal to the female audience more. The first 2 minutes are from season one and the setup and finale are from season two.

Honestly, the book scene is one of my favourite scenes in all of television. Never fails to make me smile

yeah man, they even got a german language joke in with "ich tun" ("tun" aka the basic version of "do" is a seldom used word that has a reputation usually way overused by foreigners who don't speak german very well)

I loved Don so much more when he started going out with Sloan. Aaron Sorkin should consider giving them their own spin-off show. Will's monologues brought me to the "Newsroom", but Sloan and Don kept me coming back. Pairing them was a genius move and their banter and chemistry could have kept that show going for years.
It took me a while to start liking Don Keefer, but the "no, no" wingman scene immediately after Sloan expressed her displeasure at the revenge porn sealed it for me. :)

I love Sloan... I want to see what she says about financial news, but I guess it would be too much work the graphics.
Plus, years, plus have to have people who know what to ACTUALLY add in the financial news, at least three... Which would be the poor suckers that would have that kind of tedious work jikes
I have to be honest, I’m a huge nerd, and Hyperinflation in the Weimar Republic, a History of the Economics of Post WWI Germany sounds like a super interesting book.
As a german nerd, I can assure you, it is very interesting!
Read "When Money Dies" it's about exactly that and it is actually very interesting!

according to Mark Blyth the German Banks flooded the country with bank notes to make them almost worthless so that Germany did not have to repay their war debt with real money. They did it for nine months.
I'd suggest Adam Tooze's the wages of destruction. He's also got some other economic stuff that is really interesting.

I use this line with my students when I'm giving them shit, but they haven't realized I'm serious yet.

The idea of Olivia Munn struggling to get a date is laughable
Olivia? Yeah. Sloan? Oh, I believe it.
On the other hand, the idea of Sloan Sabbith "thinking" she has to struggle to get a date is quite believable. Woman consistently undervalue themselves in America, even those without cause to.

I know this is just a show, but I was friends with an insanely attractive girl in college. She was single the entire time I was in college with her and rarely went on dates with anyone. I asked her the same question Don did and she said it was because guys rarely asked her out and guys that had the confidence to were super pompous dickheads who thought they could get with any girl they want. She told me that the kind of guys she liked were scared to talk to her because they thought they had no chance with her.
That last arc with the book was both hilarious and adorable
Not only is it sad that such a great show is off the air but it makes me weep we cannot have a real news show like this
I hate that The Newsroom gets talked down upon these days when folk look back, you’re title says (best show on television) and it’s still my number 1. loved it!

The scene with the kiss is my favorite. She was so clearly pleased with Don right then.
Her smile at the end wins my heart....among other things about her.
In a show that showcased relationships as well as political and social commentary I believe the growing relationship between Don and Sloan was my favorite

Don is my hero. Almost by accident he captured the heart of a ravishingly beautiful, strikingly intelligent women with a heart of gold and the wide eyed naivety of a twelve year old. He did all of this by just being the nice guy that he is. I solute you sir.

No, being *just* nice doesn't work. Don is far more than just nice. He's actually got wit, charm, a sense of humor, is good at his job, empathetic, and most importantly, a good balance between confidence and self-awareness. Oh, and he's also not afraid to show vulnerability from time to time - see his "Am I losing Maggie?" bit after the Fukushima story.
To me the thing that Don personifies the best is personal courage

Sloan was the funny straight guy in this show.
In the state of the US and world today, we should fight to get this show REBOOTED. So important topics can be seen for entertainment... if we're going to watch something, why not watch something that could help change MORE minds?? Aaron Sorkin= amazing, Cast =amazing... WHY IS THIS SHOW NOT BACK FROM THE DEAD????????

I can't get hbo in the UK without subscription but as I've watched every newsroom vid on YT I think its worth it, i haven't seen a full episode yet but love this show.
The characters and portrayal of them is outstanding
