i love dcs, and i would play it everyday if it wasnt for the thousands of dollars you need to spend to play it. one plane costs 60 dollars. i understand that making the planes is hard and the devs need to profit. but this kind of shit makes this perfect game unavailable for 90% of the people come to buy the game excited and realise its free but it later become sad to see that you need to spend alot of money just for 1 plane.
yeah the cost of entry is quite high. to me it’s worth it because in my mind it’s a hobby more than just a flight sim. my recommendation is use the standalone version to get access to more sales and trials, and buy an affordable hotas without breaking the bank just to see if you’re into it. also start off with the flaming cliffs planes, they’re lower fidelity and more beginner friendly
If you have a decent PC, all you need is a cheap entry stick like the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro ($30), a webcam if you don’t have one (for face tracking) and your plane of choice (around $60 to $80). So for less than $150 you have all you need to get started. This is how I did it, and I am still using the same gear 2 years later. I have mained the F14 (can’t recommend enough) and loved every moment of it. Trust me, this game is worth the money you put into it.
5:41 dude my jaw dropped i wasn't expecting the game to let the f-16 emergency hook catch the wire, let alone have the carrier wires or emergency hook hold against the higher speed, LET ALONE see the guy actually land it thats nuts
Cheap stick or hotas. Plane of choice. And some sort of head or face tracking. I use a simple webcam and a free software called Opentrack. Not as smooth as something like TrackIR, but after some tweaking I got it to work decently.
What are your specs? I’m running medium and some high settings with a humble 1070. I have a shit processor too (i7-4770). I can give you my settings if you want.
Your videos represent my 3 brain cells trying to turn the engine on in dcs
figuring it all out as you’re trying to fly is what makes dcs elite
Exactly, I have trouble reading the labels on the dash
skill issue man why dont you just read like a 1400^7 page document??

how do you play multiplayer other than public servers, do you use the server specific copy of dcs on a separate device or something else?
I normally just host it myself on my computer. then anyone who wants to join just enters ip and password
