I like how Matt talks about how he was good back in the day and then is straight up honest about his major league stint and is like yeah I sucked. I thought he was a good player. A lot better and went a lot further than tens of thousands of others. So I think he did alright!
Can you talk about gambling in the big leagues on the plane or in the clubhouse? I've heard stories where these guys come in with huge bonuses and pretty much gamble it away and lose it to the other players.
In 1990 I was with Seattle, I saw Ken Griffey Jr. lose $20k to Jeff Leonard in 30 minutes playing 2 card guts. we were on the plane and almost in gradual descent. Jr didn't care, he just got the $20k cash for a card signing show in Chicago
@@brentknackert8412 Whoah, I lived in Seattle between '94-'03 and was a huge fan of that era. Jr., Randy, Buhner, A-Rod, Edgar and so on. Too bad I wasn't there to see you pitch. Thanks for the great story, if you have any others I'd love to hear them. Hope you're doing well, have a good one..
@@brentknackert8412 Good to see you around. Remember chatting with you at the Kingdome after an Oriole game. "Beats the hell out of Sarasota, doesn't it?" Needless to say, you probably didn't even see bonus babies drop that kind of cash in the Florida State League.
Hey Matt. Can you do a video on Cody Bellingers swing? Based on your experience, what’s your analysis of his performance lately? He was crushing the ball and won mvp and since then he’s been below expectations (as a fan).
When I was in the army, I flew on c-141 from Fort Carson CO. to Fort Irwin, CA. The plane flew MAP of the earth, and I got sick and Pucked in my Kelvar. I should have never ate the MRE until the landed!🤣
One thing you didn't mention was the logistics moving the team from town to town... I read a book called "The Grind" about one year with the Nats, and part of the book was about how they had to move all that stuff, including stuff like players' golf clubs or musical instruments... all put in their hotel rooms, players treated like royalty.
MLB travel used to be a lot more comfortable when there were 12 teams per league and no interleague games. Most of the series were 3 and 4 games and trips to the west coast generally involved visiting all three teams in a two week period. There are a whole lot more travel days in 2020 than there were in 1975.
Casey Smith??? Didn't he spend a good deal of time in the Angels organization as well? If it's the same Casey Smith I am thinking of, I watched him play a LOT of games for Salt Lake growing up. I remember him getting a walk off hit to finish like a 10 run comeback at one of the best games I ever witnessed. Great times.
Hey, love the videos, thank you for this awesome channel channel. I have a question - What are the differences between the various types of pitches - a curveball, fastball, etc? As a hitter, can you tell the difference? And does it make a difference what the type of pitch is, or do you just try to hit it, regardless of the type of pitch?
Crash Davis said it best "You know, you never handle your luggage in the show, somebody else carries your bags. It was great. You hit white balls for batting practice, the ballparks are like cathedrals, the hotels all have room service, and the women all have long legs and brains"
Matt, if you were playing at home on a Sunday afternoon, with a night game on the road the next day. (One -two hour plane flight) Would you fly out on Sunday afternoon, or early Monday morning?
So on taco day, who tells you on when to be on the bus? And who tells you when you get to the destination, who tells you what time to be at the bus to the park, and can you take other means to get to the park if you want?
Mine is field of dreams. Others I like are the rookie, the sandlot, 61*, million dollar arm, rookie of the year, and the final season. Used to watch Tiger Town with Roy scheider years ago when i was a kid. No one ever really talks about that one.
@@AntonelliBaseball I watched many of your videos and I can tell you pretty much aware of what you say and you don't throw people under a bus. Thanks for creating a great channel. Keep it up.
I don’t even play baseball but I watch it I find these so fun to watch
This channel seems to have a lot of minor and former major leaguers subscribed which makes the comment section even more interesting
It has to be a huge slice of humble pie when you go from the Four Seasons (The Bigs) back to the Motel 6 (Minors) lol.
you seem jealous
"If you're going to go to the big leagues ... stay there." Great advice! ;-)
"Beat it geek", hahaha. Nice. On another note kudos to you for being able to endure those six hour or longer bus rides.

He made the Majors. He was damn good.

Good question, I'd like to hear some crazy gambling stories..

Did you play in Scranton pa with the Yankees at AAA minor league baseball
Has a game ever been canceled or postponed due to traveling issues? Cant remember ever seeing a game missed due to traveling
What about food/drink available on the plane? ..... check-in to hotels?
Are there air stewardesses serving drinks etc on chartered flights?
Been loving these stories Matt!

Right after Sunday’s game
I made it to the big leagues in RTTS and I haven’t been sent back since.
Do you earn frequent flyer miles?
Did you ever have really bad turbulence or issues with the plane?
About how many flights does a team take in a baseball season?
matt antonelli For MVP. Best MLB player ever
What yall do during all star break
Can you do a video on who pays for injuries/surgeries?

Great video Matt.
Great subject!!!
Are you re doing all your videos from years ago?
Matt don't forget the perks of Police Escorts with a bus when you're big time.
I hope you thanked the Assistant to the Traveling Secretary, George Costanza.
Could you do a video about college travel
I really enjoyed your video. Great channel. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Greetings from Albania. 👋🏼 🇦🇱
How’s travel in college?
You've done the differences in traveling between minor and major leagues. What about the traveling in college?
Please more road to 400 feet vids.
Im having issue with my imagination this morning. I wanna see the planes and busses.
9:47 moral of the story
Hehe, the cardboard thing was fuckin funny! 😆
Finally
I know the Orioles have chartered trains to New York.
You shower. You get a bite to eat. Then you get dressed. Not sure that I agree with this order. I would do it differently
Lol….”Hey beat it geek”!
hey matt, do top prospects get special treatment in the minor leagues?
What’s your favorite baseball movie?

I wonder if you've ever been in trouble talking about what happens behind the scene like this lol.

The difference between major leagues and minor leagues is staggering …college kids get better treatment than that lol

First comment thanks for the great video
Nope actually not
I bet when minor league teams got a new bus they sought out the worst possible bus.
The more you listen to Matt the less it surprises you he didn't make the MLB
