He didn't really destroyed him, but he overcame by really a little, being pretty impressive because we are talking about Ayrton Senna, a legend of motorsport. Mika is my favourite driver, because of the sportsmanship, the talent and the humor he has.
Just love Mika’s personality, one of my favourite drivers too.

Imagine being faster than Senna, outscoring Schumacher in 1998 and doing the overtake of the decade in Spa but staying the most humble of gentlemen. Incredible this guy!
Nico's father..Keke Rosberg had a part in the rise of Mika Hakkinen in the Formula 1 ..he was Mika's manager..in the Lotus team.. :)
Keke managed Mika from 1989(?) to 2001 and JJ Lehto from 1987(?) to 1996 I think.

Yeah, just your average next door Mika. Such a humble guy. I wish he had won more world championships. But McLaren's reliability let him down a few times.
Mika don' need no more championships. He raced against Schumacher wheel to wheel each year. That alone makes him a legend. Don't think he's got anything to prove to anyone who's seen him drive.
IMO Mika > Schumacher as a driver and a person, I don't think I need to say any more.

Very unlike his former teammate. What is it about Germans? Him, Hulkenberg and Vettel seem so modest and down to earth. And their work ethic and dedication is outstanding!

This so much not a vlog, but a well scripted video, with a videoproduction- crrew and a lot of preparation and editing. All being done with the single goal of putting and keeping pretty face Rosberg in business as a Brand name.
I feel much more sympathy for Hakkinen.

Haven't really watched Mika as a driver but he always comes off as a genuinely nice dude when you see him in videos like these or interviews, etc
You can always tell when talented drivers actually start really driving a car as Nico did briefly in the P1. They stop talking, the hand positions change along with body control but it's mostly in the eyes. It's not just how they shift where they focus corner to corner, it's also the intensity that seems to come to the surface. It's fascinating to watch I think.

I love how Mika looks like a granddad, if you didn’t know who he was you’d never guess in a million years that he was one of the most brutal racing drivers to ever live.
This was such an interesting video combined with superb editing :) And it's not every time that you see a video on TH-cam where two F1 World champions drive around in a McLaren P1 ;D
I loved how their eyes were looking in the same direction the whole time. Mika was in the passenger seat, but he was reading the road as if he was driving. Amazing video.
With nothing else to prove in F1. You are turning to be a champion in life. Your happiness is genuine and commend you for that. I would have loved to be inside the P1 with you guys. It looked like my kind of fun.
Mika was blindingly fast in the late 90’s. A gentleman’s champion, but also very exciting to watch.

Mika and Nico seems like a match made in heaven. They are both so down to earth, they would probably have been the best of friends if they were in the same generation of F1.
It is torture for a F1 driver to get driven around in your own car on dusty roads by somebody who wants to prove himself.

rockzs74r I think all F1 drivers are generally bad passengers. I've seen a few videos where they're in the passenger seat on fast laps and they've always looked nervous. It's the lack of control. They're all control freaks and they're feeling the speed and being on the limit but without the being in control themselves they worry just like we would.
not only all of that, but they only get half the feedback from the car that the driver gets, his feet are not on the pedals, and his hands are not on the steering wheel, so all he has is is butt in the seat to tell him what the car is doing.
or maybe if the road wasn't closed, which I suppose it wasn't, it was pretty stupid and dangerous to drive this fast on these tiny roads? You could be the best driver on the planet, driving like this on a open road like this is just dangerous

Hakkinen loved that guy still do what a gentleman funny and respectful person. I miss those days i was following him in f1 truly the best years of f1 till this guy retired.

Mika always has a special place in my heart. I've learned valuable lessons from him.
Mika's sense of humour never gets old. I've literally only just discovered this channel. "Nico Rosberg" is now my most favourite TH-cam car channel.
Love Mika, i remember the first time i watched F1 when i was a kid. It was 1999 and i was amazed with him, one of my favourites drivers ever.

Nico has probably known Mika for as long as he can remember. When Nico was 4 Keke became Mika's manager, and continued in that role till 2001, when Nico was 16. Mika really is Nico's cool uncle...
Mika really seems to be as friendly and naturally based like Walter Röhrl for example.
I am very happy to have met WR 3 times in Weissach and like Mika, he was one of the stars of my childhood and one of the gentliest persona i ever met.
For me, over a decade and starting in the early 90s, Mika has always been the best example in behaving like a sportsman and that was and that ist really rare in F1.
I wished, i could shake his hand too, somtime...

@@helenab9973 In my experience many of those who drive professionally themselves have trouble trusting others when they drive fast. They are used to being in control so "I'm not in control" makes them uncomfortable.

Well the Schumacher era was quite the same than the actual Hamilton era. Excepted the fact that Botas is alowed to fight and win , Barrichello wasn't (really underrated driver btw, he could have win the Championship without the Ferrari instructions ) . But you're right, it was a damn good era !

Mika, you are my childhood hero! I remember coming home after our football training at weekends 20-25 years ago, waiting impatiently your race with Schumacher.Those were the days...
First met Mika in 1991 as a guest of Lotus in Adelaide. As a young man at the time I was blown away by how humble and approachable he was.
Took on the greats of Senna and Schumacher and emerged a two time champion.

As a german I can honestly say that there is just something genuinely "cool" and "easy going" about finnish dudes. That video of 1,5 finnish guys interacting with eachother just having a good time shows that.

And the older generation of F1 in general. It just died for me in the late 90s when it became too boring to watch. I quit after I started falling asleep mid-race.

@@esaedvik 80s weren't very good for racing. Occasionally there used to be good races but that's about it. 97-13 was the absolute peak of F1. Racing was more than ever in that era.

Wow, Mika Hakkinen has aged like fine wine. He killed me when he asked “how is my hair?” Okay this was three years ago but a previous request for an interview with Mika Hakkinen on a yacht would still be nice three years on. A kind of catch up and see what’s been happening sort of interview since. I’m part Finnish (mother) and this got a couple of chuckles from me. Nico is a natural. I love the way he is very much a Monaco boy through and through. Just another round the way kid who made good.Hasn’t forgot to keep his feet on the ground.God bless him and whatever he puts his hand and mind to!

Mika is so cool! A down to earth SUPER HERO. So glad Mika got out of this uber dangerous sport to enjoy a nice, long and comfortable retirement. Many drivers continue you on with the sport and refuse to leave even when they are on top. It doesnt always end well. I used to think Senna was my favorite driver, maybe from overall skills and speed perspective. Outwardly, Senna appeared to be a very complex and intense human being but he clearly was a very compassionate man in words and action. But with Mika, you kinda feel like you could just sit down and have a beer with him.
Damn, was hoping to hear your thoughts how you like the balance of your car/understeer/oversteer and such. ^^ Otherwise great vlog as always.

He did. Said the rear is very loose because it has so much power etc.
That says nothing about his preferences in a racing/Formula 1 context, though. He commented on the car and that he likes it, but he didn't really get into how he ideally likes his race car which I believe is what Mika was asking.

Schumacher was a fantastic driver no doubt but mika was always my favourite growing up. I loved the McLaren in the late 90s and early 00s.. 2 legends in the car here. Great video
