      Actually, this is one of the most commonly used (and most efficient) ways to studying pieces of music. You focus on a passage, deconstruct it to its most basic form, and gradually add elements as you get more comfortable with the simple forms, until you are finally able to play the original passage :)

    Reminds me of many years ago when my son was only a few years old constantly tugging at my leg asking questions and talking to me and me answering him while jamming with friends. They all used to ask me how I did it. Listening to him, and talking to him and in general paying attention to him all while playing and singing in between. Guess you just get REALLY good at multitasking as a musician/parent. Great video Mary. Great song and a sad loss of the performer of a such an iconic song.

    • @timhess6720
      @timhess6720 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@lofr8982 Well, no, because that would just be weird to say I'm attracted to my mom. Haha. What I meant was watching her talk and explain the process while still playing. You can sometimes see the blank glossed over look in her eyes while she is multitasking and she is speaking slower than usual thinking what she wants to say next while still playing. Her mind appears to be near overload, but, she's doing and awesome job at it and I can relate. Mary is doing a great job! I know a few musicians who can teach, play, or sing, but, in no way can do any two of them at the same time. Just one at a time. My post was meant to be a complement to Mary.

    When the teacher lovingly reminds the class that there's a reason why they're the teacher; her talent is evident her energy is magnetic.

      Yeah that’s definitely a Silver Sky, I wouldn’t be surprised though because I kinda remember her saying somewhere that she loves his playing and such

      First I thought it is a Fender Strat in ocean mist color, but the neck seems to be a Paul Reed Smith, crazy that it fits...

    This is very amazing & watched it all the way through. Even the lowest grade version still has a good delivery for the song. Going on up the technique levels the play & the vocals teeter between blues & jazz but leave neither one behind! Hardcore talent

    How cool is that!! Such a great lesson. I learned a ton of new ideas and how to improve my improvising by filling in chords and licks! Don't get it out of my head. Playing it all day long. It's so much fun and sounds so cool.Thanks for posting this, Mary!! Cheers from Bavaria! Stay healthy and Happy Easter!
