      She didn't do this in Blackpink cause YG only cared about pushing the rappers especially Lisa and hired songwriters to suit them. She did this now because she signed with Atlantic on her own and is finally free to write and sing the way she wants.

    My new favorite era is locals and vocal coaches finally learning that Rosé is actually an amazing vocalist something that YG tried to hide for 8 years.

    • @userishawt
      @userishawt 25 วันที่ผ่านมา +15

      I don’t think they “tried to hide” her voice, it’s just that blackpinks music isn’t usually vocally driven, it’s more on the rap/badass side of music, plus blackpink has ballads where she sings great as well

    • @Estherysx
      @Estherysx 25 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

      A company wouldn’t intentionally hide it, like the other cmt said, bp’s vibe just wasn’t suitable. Also, yg gives artists to have full freedom during their solos. If she had wanted to, she would have. We’re hearing these now cuz she NOW is comfortable enough to. U can praise someone without having to name bad guys cuz what do u mean yg tried to hide talent?They literally got akmu. YG isn’t hybe or jyp, they don’t hide artists fearing they would outgrow the company

      @@Estherysx for a fact we know YG denied collab offers for her, they took collab offers that were meant for a group (DJ Snake said this himself) and gave it to Lisa because YG wanted to push the rappers and hold Rosé back. We have artists, producers, TV Show producers, and TV show hosts (Young Ji talked about it for years trying to get her favorite idol Rosé on the show and she said YG was so hard to deal with however when JIsoo released her solo YG sent her to Young JI's show so YG said no for Rosé and yes for other members during their solo era and what did Rosé do one of the first things outside of YG to promote was go on one of Young JI's shows the person that has been trying to get her for years and literally said YG was blocking it so you can't even say Rosé didn't want to go on Young Ji's show because it was one of her first actions as a soloist) all of these people have described trying to work with YG to get Rosé only met with denial and then Rosé herself saying yes as soon as she is out of YG. We have OST requests for years with Rosé not gettinga single OST and a few months out of YG she does an OST. All of these people have been saying YG is not letting Rosé work and then the second she's away from them she is suddenly taking the offers and you want us to believe she simply wasn't ready for 8 years. YG literally hangs a poster in the elevator for Rosé's promo while renting out huge video billboards at the airport and more for other members. We know for a fact that YG held her back you have to be a Rosé hater ot3 YG stan to say otherwise. We have multiple industry people saying YG refuses to allow Rosé to work with them only for Rosé to go and work with them the second she's out of YG. Everything YG did was to hold Rosé back but you stan a corporation rather than artists.

      @@morehumanthanahuman that’s not the point of my comment, I never really said yg didn’t try to hide her, I was talking about her voice in general, which was definitely used for good in multiple blackpink songs specifically ballads or just most of their bsides in general really. Yg didn’t try to hide her voice per say but not letting her do collabs etc. was obviously wrong and never said that wasn’t true but in general her voice has never been hidden, it’s been shown throughout blackpinks music and her own music.

    Great reaction. And yes, Rose has done this type of singing in her past solos. Her debut solo in 2022 was On The Ground, debuted number 1 on the Billboard Global 200 Chart, and had over 40 million views in the first 24 hours. She followed it up with Gone, that has the same vibe as this song. APT with Bruno Mars is much more upbeat and not her typical sad girl ballad vibe.

  • @thevirus8803
    @thevirus8803 29 วันที่ผ่านมา +70

    Why hasn't she done this in Blackpink? Because YG Blackpink's label has always been known for their hip hop influenced music so they banked and pushed the rappers in Blackpink and designed Blackpink's music around that leaving very little to showcase the vocal capability we all knew Rosé had. We've know for a very long time that Rosé was more of a singer-songwriter (she plays guitar and piano) and just really stood out different from most YG artists. for some reason YG just wanted to keep pushing Rosé into the background giving her very little promo compared to the other members and giving her barely any real chance to show off her vocals. (she showed us in her covers though since she wasn't free under YG, she has more covers than Blackpink has songs, they all go viral, and they are often praised by the original artists people like Alica Keys, John Mayer, Sklar Grey, Coldplay, Halsey, and more (John Mayer sent her one of his signature series guitars in Roxy Pink with a thank you note for covering his song and her and Halsey even wound up becoming friends and hanging out in Paris because of her cover). Blackpink members recently parted ways with YG for their solo activities (they are still under them as the group Blackpink) so now Rosé is actually free to make the music she wants which is why is credited as co-writer and co-producer (via Alantic Records statement) which vastly differs from how things worked with Blackpink. the CEO of warner/chappell music NA just welcomed Rosé to their family as well in a press release a few days ago.

    The Blackpink doc on Netflix Light Up the Sky was the first glimpse they gave of Rosé’s interests and love of music. Her being a true solo artist now means she gets to do what she’s wanted to do for years. She loves singing covers of American songs and they are always incredible. This song reminds me of a gospel. It has that deeply emotional feel and really shows her vocal ability. I grew up listening to Korean ballads and so have not been a big fan of K-pop. Even though this song sounds more like a gospel, it also feels like a return to an older tradition. I know she was born on NZ and grew up in Australia, so perhaps she soaked up both Korean and Western influences. There is no question that she is a tremendous talent and we are lucky that she found the global stage so that we can all enjoy it.

    The thing you have to understand about K-pop culture is that, members in groups are expected to be a team player and by that it means they are not supposed to overly outshine the other members. Also the style of the group is often dictated by the managing company, not so much the artists themselves. Now that girls have gone solo, they all dictate their own style and Rosie is finally able to really spread her wings and write and work on her own music.

    She didn’t do this in blackpink, becuase their image and brand was limited to be a product like most K-pop groups, focused on vitality and catchiness, their label, YG , is one of the biggest K-pop labels so they were pretty much set to stay as a brand but their contract just ended and all the girls re-signed as a group but they left the company for solo projects , so they can do anything They want , Rose signed with Atlantic records and fullly wrote and created her album in Los Angeles

    ¡Oh, my! About vocals, Kpop is a rabbit hole hehehehe Of course some songs are kind of plastic (still bops), but I know you'll have fun analyzing B-sides or solo stuff. There's tons of groups, but (as a metalhead myself) Mamamoo, BlackPink (my girls), a couple of rookies as BabyMonster and Meovv, and soloists as Ailee, Kim Jong Kook, Jessi, Onew and Lee Suhyun, made it to my playlist... Their vocals are insane. Big hug from Colombia (South America) ❤

      Hi @@austinvhm. I was talking just about vocals in Korean Pop. And you're right, she sounds different, but I think is because her musical influences and her personality, beyond music genres.
      Besides, I don't clasify Kpop as music genre (at least I don't know how), 'cause by "nature" it's a bunch of (weirdly well) mixed genres hehehehe a beautiful fusion ☺

    You sound like a prime candidate for female K-pop solo artists. Very different than girl groups. Taeyeon, IU, Sejeong, Lee Hi, even So!Yooon! Stuff you just wouldn't believe.

    YESSSS PLS MORE KPOP reactions, BUT If you really want just vocals i'd recommend soloists like IU or Taeyeon, because most groups tend to be just cookie cutter short vocal sections, catchy chorus, and rap verse thrown in somewhere. Soloists or solo songs from certain group members tend to be way better singing.vocal wise like Rose

    And yes I did say that for an earlier disclaimer, just because once you dig deeper into her solo works nor more onto the rest BLACKPINK's discography some immature people much likely gonna start causing some drama 🤞

    Check out her cover of 'Until I Found You' but listen with headphones.
    th-cam.com/video/WfEiabOTH8Y/w-d-xo.html&start_radio=1&rv=Amq-qlqbjYA
    She has such a warm and unique vocal tone. There is some sort of vocal treatment that lets her lower vocals sound dry, and her higher vocals pick up reverb and a more fuller sound. Teddy did this a lot in some BP songs, and it's not quite as noticeable until you listen with headphones
