I'm using an 11 inch sct that I absolutely love. However, as I get up in years I know the size of that scope will be more limiting. I love the direction smartscopes are going. I'm not quite sold on the Origin as is, but I'd bet money in a couple of years this platform will be awesome. Nicely done video.
@@anthonybryantmedia cheers mate! Probably wanna have a look at the NexStar range, they’ll make it easy to find stuff and you can rig your R5 up to them 👌🏼
How does this compare to the seestar and unistellar odyssey. New to the game. Astronomy was the only thing I was interested in school and after 37 years I am retiring next year so it’s a campervan and telescope for me. I don’t want to waist money going in low budget as I know this is something I will love. Any tips would be greatly appreciated
@@alunmorgan2352 it’s a cracking bit of kit, as it’s a RASA and much faster aperture than the SeeStar the total integration time needed to get decent results is much less than the SeeStar meaning you need less time on each target to get decent results. It’s super easy to use and has a lot of scope for getting in depth with editing the RAW files yourself. If you can afford it, I’d highly recommend it. The SeeStar for what it does and the money is also a really good option, you just need to do a bit more work to get similar results. Not used the Unistellar so can’t comment. Happy retirement 👍🏼
I can confirm your experience. The pictures are awesome. However, with my Origin after about 1.5 hours of use, the internal WLAN connection becomes weak and the response time to an input command too long. I hope the next update by Celestron will change this.
The only problem with all alt az mounts is they do not accommodate for field rotation... So you are limited to how much you can stack before field rotation becomes very prevalent... Astrophotography is a bottomless money pit, just depends how hooked you become... This scope is unfortunately over priced the seestar S50 & S30 are probably a better starting point due to their price...
I don't think they will, they're like a gateway into taking it more seriously. Using the Origin has definitely peaked my interest in astrophotography now for sure!
They will take over because of ease of use, however they will get more expensive as they start working much better. Until then there will be no beating a $10000 photography rig.
Wouldnt it be fun if the telescope is actually not showing anything but instead the app is downloading images from the web resizing them on your phone.

Orion is my favourite! Really awesome piece of gear. Thanks for the video!
@@popicavlad Andromeda blew my mind as it was the first deep space object I viewed but yeah when I saw Orion I was hooked 👌🏼
Great video Craig, and wonderful images thanks
@@_NeXus6_ thank you! 🙏🏼
I’d buy it without hesitation. Except my wife seems to have this idea about living in a real house and buying groceries. A real kill joy.
Good review mate. The orion nebula image is awesome. Makes me want a telescope! Love to see whats on offer to use my R5 with

Oh really, that's odd, hopefully they do resolve that and I hope you get some clear skies soon, enjoy your Origin!
Insane
Great video mate.

I have to say the seestar produces on par if not better images
This Captain C Pitts of the Starship Nebula 😊
Shut up Jonathan ;)

Smart telescopes are cool, But i dont think they should take over astrophotography

Orion Nebula looks like what the 500$ seestar s50 gives, without editing
You got that right, looks like but by far not as good.
My title idea was better
I don't know why we're friends.
waste of money

That is exactly what the Chinese Huawei phone does. lol. Take a photo of the moon and it will select an existing image and pretend it is live.
