    Congratulations on 10,000 subscribers! This has been a fun journey watching the channel grow. I really like the watch, just not at that price. I love the orange dial and the indices, the minute hand is a distraction. I 100% agree about the movement. Also, I just received my first pair of Grant Stone boots, and I love them. I got the Ottawa Boot Natural Kangaroo, I love light colored boots. And lastly, love the dogs. They should pay an occasional visit to the channel.

    So I have this watch and I fully understand every criticism. They are fair, but seeing this watch on my wrist just keeps wowing me. It wears so well and looks so good on wrist. (I have the blue and white)

    Have this watch and love it. In fact, wearing it today. First Breitling I loved enough to pull out my wallet and buy it. When my wife saw a pic of it the day it was released, she said 'That watch looks like it was made for you'. Ordered it the next day cause, you know, had to get it after my wife said that.

    Been waiting for your review on this watch and you didn't disappoint. Thank you for not being biased and highlighting the negative aspects of this watch (movement, price, minute hand, power reserve, etc). You would be foolish to buy this at retail when there are way better options out there. You can get a BB58 on bracelet for about $3600 on the grey market which is a much better deal, and you'd still have money left over for a steak dinner for two and a case of beer.

    Very nice review; your intro looked so professional I thought it was a commercial! I think your assessment or that movement is spot-on. I feel like pricing on this should be comparable to Oris or Tag Heuer.

    Great timing on this video for me. I tried this watch on at a Breitling event about 6 months ago. Two days ago I traded in my Previous generation orange superocean on this newer Kelly Slater edition. I Loved the color of the older watch but could never get used to the unbalanced dial. I did loose my shirt on the trade in but at least I got a 15% discount on the new one. Keep the great content coming Elizabeth!

    • @tricky92x
      @tricky92x ปีที่แล้ว

      Exact same scenario for me. The only thing that would have been perfect would be if they kept the winged logo on the new editions. I will also say that the new strap is infinitely better than the last model (although I think I liked the clasp better).

    Breitling doesn't seem to offer the same value at a given price point but it's a very romantic brand and I intend to own one some day. As a plus these ETA movements are nice and thin and that is a plus for this watch vs the comparables. I agree tho it should be priced lower. I think all the mainstream luxury brands these days are being pressured into increasing their prices to keep up their image. Good review.

    Hello again Elle... Great review and as always - to the point and credible. The "Industry Outsider" strikes again! I have a couple of Breitling watches in my current collection and both are really quite beautiful and very enjoyable to wear. They are keepers that will be going nowhere soon. Interesting new take on the Superocean but I will be sticking with my current Superocean Heritage "Bluesie"... CONGRATS on 10k subs - you go girl..... Well deserved rapid growth in your subs/channel!!! Keep up the great work - love the new look (hair) and love your dog..... They do take up a lot of time but always worth it! What a great Sunday morning - new vids from two of my favorite "TH-cam ladies of the watch world" released in one day!

      I usually release new stuff on Friday and certainly not as late as Sunday but life intervenes and I've been super busy.
      As much as I like the look of this newest incarnation of the Superocean, I still prefer the Superocean heritage, at least in terms of appearance if not specifically wearability.( I have small wrists).

    Great video Elizabeth. This watch is frustratingly close to perfect for me.
    I dont mind the large square however I would've preferred it to have been on the hour hand instead and for the hour hand to be the minutes hand (elongated ofcourse).
    Though that price for an SW200 is absolutely ridiculous to me as well.
    Overall it's a nice watch for sure. Looking forward to the Hamilton Intramatic Chronograph review!

    Interesting and thanks for the great vid. I wonder how many people will now be encouraged to buy the older model before they become impossible to find. If I was looking for an only watch, or like a 2nd watch, I wouldn't go with this watch at it's price point. At that price point, I would go with the Seamaster 300M, which is the watch I've had in my collection the longest. In a decent size collection though, it's fun to have.

  • @ref6122
    @ref6122 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    IMHO Breitling has to charge that extremely high price for a Sellita movement dive watch because they are trying to raise all their watches in all their lines to the level of a true aspirational item.I remember even a few years ago I saw the latest Colt model for 1999$ grey market along with the previous gen.Superocean for 2700$. Thats something you would never see with Omega or Rolex.Maybe they believe your average non enthusiast consumer just wants a Breitling on their wrist as proof they are the general Rolex- Omega neighborhood and not caring too much about the movement.

  • @nekton.avenger
    @nekton.avenger ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The min hand box is difficult to take given the what else was highlighted in the video as drawbacks. If Kelly and Slater got together then Zack and Skreetch would need to heat up the bromance to balance out the show. And darn the supercolliders,always making a mess😂 Thanks for the insights an view of the Breitling.

  • @anthonystevens8683
    @anthonystevens8683 ปีที่แล้ว

    Another great video Elizabeth. Very well presented, edited and photographed as well. The part about who Kelly was along with the who is 'she' along with the consideration to go with the non limited versions and not bother to find out who Kelly was was perfect. I love the dry humour. OK, the watch, it's not really my cup of tea to own one but it's definitely better than the old version as you say the off balance huge numerals and date were just 'off'. The new version regardless if your preferred name is Kelly, the functioning part of the dial that is too small for me. The chapter ring echoes the bezel too much in my eyes, that shallow rehaut occupies a tad too much real estate for me. We are all different and have different tastes and that's OK so it's probably just me. Onto the price and the movement, it is probably too pricey for the movement within but Sellita movements are very well proven and easy to get serviced. But for the price you could get an Oris Aquis with an in house designed cal 400 with 5 days power reserve and a 10 year service and warranty and for me anyway a better design on this occasion. Breitling unless I'm wrong (probably, I'm usually wrong) have access to Kenissi movements, the ones that nestle comfortably inside the Tudoe 3 handers but this might up the cost. Finally that minute hand looks like someone repurposed that hammer that Thor seems to have lost. Anyway regardless of my thoughts this was still a great video, oh and the Aquis blue dial certainly suites your wrist. Thanks for sharing.

    The white inner ring is a bit thick for my taste, but it's not a deal breaker. I'd like a date and a better power reserve for this price point. I also think this watch in the 44 mm hits the sweet spot for my size wrist. All that being said, I don't think I'd pay almost $6k for this watch and I'm a big Breitling fan.

    Beautiful videography and thorough review that I really enjoyed. Power reserve and in house are moot points for me - unless a company is (mostly) vertically integrated which I do find an engaging proposition, hence my collection being Rolex and Seiko heavy. Honestly, if you love it, comfortable spending the money and can get one … go for it I say. I love the watch, colorway and (coincidentally) surfing so ordered one, it’s not all about value retention or movement. As many have pointed out, servicing costs are a consideration and brands lock you in to their after sales through the movement. The bezel pip not being aligned at 12 was distracting … for me at least. Subscribed and looking forward to watching past and future content.

    I’m surprised you know Saved By the Bell but not Kelly Slater but the Kelly + Slater = Kelly Slater reference was epic. 👏🏼
    Breitlings were the 1st luxury watch brand that got me interested in watches 20 years ago (I’m 42 now). I was too poor to buy one then so I quit wanting to get into higher end up watches until now. Now that’s I’m older Breitlings don’t appeal to me as much with one exception…anything with that pistachio green dial. Now that is a sexy color. Unfortunately all of the watches with that color are too small for me.
    You point about the movement is well taken though. I’d really like the Tag Aquaracer 300 GMT but the cost in relation to the movement stopped me from buying it when I finally decided on my Longine Spirit Zulu.

    Yeah I live in Daytona Beach FL and all I knew about Kelly slater was he was brand ambassador for this surfing wet suit brand that made other textiles and stuff called Quicksilver. but in the late 90s when I was 13 or so you weren't cool inless you had a Quicksilver backpack and or T-shirt so I worked all summer of 1999 cutting grass in my neighborhood to purchase said backpack and 1 T-shirt.... and going to school that next year made me feel so good that I achieved something on my own...but on another note I think you could definitely pull off that 42mm size it looked good anywho sorry for the long drawn out comment. Lol keep up the great content 👍

    Exact same feelings .. love the look and feel on the wrist . But just can’t consider 5 k for a selita based movement . Have nothing against the movement but price the piece accordingly and it won’t look such an unadulterated cash grab .

    Must agree not a fan of the big square on the hand. In fact not a fan of this watch at all. Always like your videos. Keep up the good work. 👍Cheers Ron

    I don't get it on the "lack of" power reserve. It isn't a handwound watch is it thus it isn't a big deal. I like the design quite a bit and it's much more fresh as the regular dive designs going for decades. It's a bold design and it is questionable if this could be an endgame watch for me despite the price tag I might save up for it. On the other hand... Might be theft sensitive because of the easy to classify dial design...

    The movement is a deal breaker really! The Doxa sub 200 gives you the same movement and bags of heritage for under a thousand pounds.

    Isn’t Breitling a brand you can expect a significant discount on? Of course, problem there is that this applies to most non-special edition Omegas as well.
    I do like how it looks though.
