I've been told that the new tank500 PHEV hi4-z (not hi4-t) coming out to Australia in 2025- really looking forward to driving this- heaps more power/torque than hev. i dont need 7 seats- 5 is plenty.
Your review doesn't do this car justice. Other reviews have praised this car as a luxurious but very capable off roader which is competitively priced. Constant skepticism about the Chinese, GWM, the name of the car, the equipment level and even performance.
I agree I wish they'd experiment and out the new 2.4 diesel from the P500 in this Tank 500🤔and it would definitely be priced cheaper too as well as lighter

It now comes equipped with a decoupled four-wheel-drive system that consists of a 2.0T engine, a front axle motor, and a rear axle motor, forming a dual-motor plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV). It features a self-developed 59.05 kWh ternary lithium super large battery pack, with a pure electric range exceeding 200 kilometers under WLTC conditions.
So the news is out that the smaller Tank 300 is coming with a diesel engine next year (probably their new 2.4 diesel engine). Pleeeeeassse review that one as soon as it launches, that is where the local market demand is.
Import duties. South Africa punishes anyone who dares to import a vehicle - seemingly to 'protect' the Polo 'Vivo' and other fantastic locally built vehicles. BTW - the same applies here in Namibia, even though we don't MAKE any vehicles!

They should have launched it in diesel first. As diesel make sense for diving long distances. Farmers use to by the old prado, but the new prado is to expensive, GWM should jump on that opening

Why when VW was 1 or 2 litres out did they get internationally crucified but this thing is 5ltrs off everyone just goes OK? I’ll rather go find a VW Touareg v8 TDI which will obliterate this in every scenario including ownership over 10 years.
@Malungan The failure is the hybrid drive system - as she explained - it loses power going uphill - even big trucks go uphill faster than me - sometimes I come out at the top of a long climb of a valley doing only 70km/h. Why? Half way up a hill, the batteries are flat, then the system decides to recharge the batteries from the engine, leaving only 25 to 30% of engine power to drive the wheels! You can max the revs - it won't make a difference!!
