This is seriously a satisfying midi guitar, love how it gives you plenty of options to adjust and select any instrument to your hearts content. Maybe someday in the future I'll consider getting one of those.
I can see elements of the old Synthaxe in this, blended with the look of Steinberg's headless guitar. - As can be expected, there will be teething problems. Such is the way with anything that's brand new. Feedback's going to be important to see early improvements. - My impression? My Grandkids might be asking if Christmas can come early this year, especially as they're being very good at home right now. - Keep safe & keep well!
I love your honesty and it's very fair. I have a very similar approach to you but I don't have experience in making videos all of which makes me very attracted to your style. Keep up the good work.
My piezo pickups in my Godin somehow output MIDI into an old Axon and it works perfectly. I can assign every string to a different MIDI channel, can assign zones on the fretboard, can assign velocity to any CC, as well as assign to a CC the position at which I pluck the string. Shame they don't make them anymore but they're cheap second hand. It does great pitchbend. That the Axon allows me to use a really nice, real guitar is a massive plus. However, if you are not a dedicated guitarist who plays cleanly, you will get horrible micro notes (which the logical editor can remove) but playing properly solves that!
Hello, can you possibly also make a video on how to record standard notations and TAB notations simultaneously with the jammy guitar in Sibelius. That would be great.
Is this a late April's fool vid? .... No? Wow! :) Cannot believe the results you were getting with this, I really want to try one. I love the idea of travelling with one.
Been curious about these because i've always thought it would be really cool to play a solo on a synth with a guitar midi controller so i can get that same tonal expression of a guitar but have access to more sounds than what a guitar has to offer.
Dom you look so happy! Awesome!!! You got mad guitar skills too! As a guitar player and wannabe synth player, this is quite interesting. How's the latency?
Hey Geoffrey, I am not even close to have mad guitar skills but I can play :) I didn't experience any noticeable latency, I guess it must be a bit higher with the Bluetooth interface but my PC doesn't have bluetooth so I didn't test it. :)
What about the 'note on/note' off part of the instrument? What are the 'note on/note off' strings made out of? Are they durable? Can they be broken? If so, how are they replaced, and are they easily replaced if broken?
The hardest part of using the jammy for me is 1. Getting sensitivity just right so there’s not too many weird notes and bends. 2. Having no midi port makes it so I have to run through my DAW via usb and then out of my daw with physical midi into my hardware synths. But this way I can’t make use of cool features like each string sending out different midi notes. Anyone know of any good software to use as an alternative USB MIDI hub to bypass using a MIDI track in the DAW? Wish I had some synths with usb class compliant inputs for usb midi straight into hardware
@@uncomely I have not tried plugging it directly into my MPC Live which supports usb class compliant midi devices. Should work great. Otherwise I know the Jammy G frame (could be wrong on the name) has a 5-pin midi out port
Hello Dom.... Hope you are doing GREAT !!!! Just want to ask something specific about the Jammy.. Assuming the user is a keyboard player just like you & an average guitar player.. Will the Jammy be helpful in making nice Legato/pitch/modulation like effects when playing instruments like Sitar / Flutes / Sakunachi / Brass & Reeds That is hard to accomplish with a general MIDI keyboard ? In short .. what do make of an idea to use the Jammy more "like a seaboard" than a ordinary MIDI guitar or a MIDI keyboard.... Thanks ever so much for your wonderful efforts in educating the world.. !!! God bless & Stay Safe.. !!!!
There’s some good guitar software out there for learning or making tab, some with graphic virtual fretboards. But they require a one midi channel per string feature. I can’t find anything that says for sure Jammy can assign midi channels to individual;al strings. Could you check and verify for me that it can do this? Thanks Dom, you are the best!
12:06 hi Dom what orchestra library you use when you play? Thanks for help after see your vídeos i buy a modx and is an amazing keyboard for my band! Thanks a lot.
I'm a beginner guitar player (just a few months) and I'm considering buying this to make it easier to put in guitars for my arrangements. Currently it's quite difficult to set up strumming with proper voicing. I'm using Ample Guitar strumming mode but it's not always easy to customize. I'm wondering if I should get this... I will have to work on my guitar skills though because they are still pretty basic. Also - anyone knows if it can send each string via a different MIDI channel? I think Ample Guitar can take advantage of this when they interpret the music being played.
I have MIDI GUITAR 2 on my iPad I can control my Roland Juno G & all of my app synths. Hardly any latency. My Boss GT100 has midi out in mono & that works too. This looks cool.
I started playing keys because none of the MIDI guitar controllers I tried could give the precision and control that even a $99 keyboard controller can give you. A year later I have half a dozen keyboard controllers and a MODX7 synth, (I can thank both Dom and @woodypianoshack for the inspiration to get the MODX) If someone ever develops a guitar controller that works like a guitar the same way that a keyboard controller works like a keyboard, I'm in. Otherwise, I'll keep working on my keyboard technique.

@@DomSigalas It's funny, I'd be using this thing for the exact reverse reasons... I'm a guitarist who can't play keyboard/piano. I will have to wait for the price to come down, but I'm definitely going to grab a Jammy MIDI guitar! Thanks for the review.
Hey Dom Sigals, is it possible to make it ring as long as you would like (synth pads) like on synth, or it rings as long the string resonates, like with guitar? Thank you!

Unboxing and synth or string sounds bother me. I want to know the capabilities as soon as possible and guitar sound is the best to assess realism.
It's a piece of junk which I regret buying. It looks like something from the toy aisle in Dollar General. One of the strings was too loose, and this thing fell apart just from me opening the back to get to the string tension adjuster.

whats about bendings? Does it work as a guitar, if you bend a string?
Is it velocity sensitive ? otherwise it wont sound natural
