The 'Spruce Goose' is currently housed at The Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum up in McMinnville.Oregon ( a few miles from Portland )....& I visited in Feb. of 2015. It's a massive plane.

The odd color range, such as the blue grass, was used to replicate the colors in the two-color Technicolor process of the day. Most people are only familiar with films shot in the later three-color process such as "The Wizard of Oz" but for a while, blue grass was the height of color movies 😊

Great Film! FYI the Hughes H-1 racing plane is in the National Air & Space Museum in Wash. DC. Another film is the 1977 made for TV movie The Amazing Howard Hughes starring Tommy Lee Jones. I recommend that one to go along with this one.

That was a great reaction sound quality is very much improved. I would love to see more Scorsese films one of my favorite Directors I believe the early scenes with Kate Hepburn, where everything seems kind of greenish blue and red was supposed to be an imitation of two strip technicolor film, which proceeded three strip technicolor film. I once saw an early travel, log film from the early 30s. It was shot in two strip technicolor, and it had a similar sort of effect where everything is kind of reddish brown and green. The three strip technicolor cameras, of course, were very big and heavy and affected shooting styles because the cameras couldn’t be moved around a lot. They ran three strips of films simultaneously And were so noisy to keep the noise from intruding on the sound recording they basically built a big metal box around the camera to muffle the sound

    • @okchristina
      @okchristina  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

Those colors do look somehow old-timey to us. Very interesting. And now that I think about it I can remember cameras being in boxes like you mentioned. Glad the newer methods of video sound is working! It's tough to get it right! Thanks!

I always tell people to watch this movie in order to understand my condition. The whole hand sanitizer thing was great, but I have to touch the bottle, so I have to clean the bottle. This can go on for awhile because it may not be clean enough. When I was a kid, I had this thing with the number 3, I could tell you about it but the counting would take forever. I do go though a lot of soap, I'm sure the soap makers are happy. Anyway, you learn to deal with it.

I have this movie on DVD. I believe they used some of the profits for OCD mental health facilities. If I remember correctly. Also in the DVD set there is a small documentary on Howard Hughes and OCD. I recommend getting it.
    I still like physical media.

The really tragic thing is that there was no good treatment for OCD in Howard Hughes’ time. Think of how much more Hughes would have been able to accomplish, just in the aviation field, had he not been so terribly burdened by that disorder.

    I have OCD myself
Not as bad as Howard Hughes
    But it's still bad
I count my steps on my way to work when I walk
I have to stop on an even number of steps
And if I'm eating a bag of Starburst or m&ms', I have to separate the colors and count then out
If there are an odd number I can't eat them
I have to throw the odd one away
I have to repeat things until they sound right coming out of my mouth and sometimes I work myself into a stutter when it happens
The volume on the TV has to be on an even number
My dad used to make fun of me relentlessly for it
He would turn the volume up to an odd number and watch it eat away at me until I had to walk out of the room, then he would laugh
And I have a thing with symmetry
Things have to be placed a certain way or it feels off to me
And things have to be arranged a certain way, or I have anxiety attacks

I have the same type of OCD as yours-with the various rituals. It started to manifest itself when I was about 17. I know what you’re going through. It’s good to know that we’re not alone, at least.

shame in all this is when he was healthy he was a true innovator in aviation, with out the H-4 we dont have the jets we fly in to day. things like hydraulic assisted flight controls where first invented for it. the crash of the XF-11 really hurt him.. he had very bad PTSD from that crash the rest of his life. it also caused him fund medical research HHMI is one top medical research groups in the world now
