Hangi is steamed in the ground mate, normally over hot stones with wetted cloth and then buried in the ground to help it steam. And that's how the rest of the world does stuffing or dressing. Chicken gizzards are from the stomach of the chicken, really popular in asian street food culture.
Welcome to Auckland! Make sure to check out the Burritos, Pies, and Popcorn at the Grey Lynn Farmers Market on Sunday morning at 510 Richmond Road Grey Lynn. 😊😊
Been watching you for month or two I never subscribe to these vlog types but I just did to your channel. I realized how honest you are and your ratings are bang on. I play a little game with myself trying to guess your scores before you rate and I'm 90 percent correct 😂
I love the Auckland Night Markets; i typically go to the Wednesday night one at Botany Town Centre. They rotate their location but its the same collective that organise them all 7 days a week; but you'll find different locations have extra vendors
i literally live two minutes away from the Pakuranga night markets and go regularly on Saturday nights. If you get the chance to go back try some of the Filipino stalls. The bbq pork kebabs are amazing. you could go there every Saturday for a month and not be able to try everything.
I am so addicted to Filipino food. They love their shrimp paste (which takes a few tries to get used to), but it's the most intensely taste stuff ever.
ive watched alot of your videos and now when ever i see your face i associate it with yummy food and my tummy immediately wishes it had yummy food, but it never gets it
Don't know how I ended up here but glad I did. I've never been to the auckland night markets I'll have to check it out when I'm up there next. Nice vid dude
Just fyi, they have allocated days for each location. Make sure to visit on a day when theres one near where you are staying. They usually open after 5:30pm so traffic can be a problem.
Love how diverse the Kai is in Aotearoa! You need to try a traditional ground cooked Hangi - the smokey flavour is way better than the steamed ones. Kumara (sweet potato)and stuffing are the best in Hangi
Aue, it's so sad watching Brock (for his first hangi experience) eat hangi alone out of a plastic bag in the corner of a carpark... I wish he'd bring a friend along once in a while
@@MsVorpalBladei think he’s here with his dad? he’s been for quite a while, hopefully he’s made some mates here!!! heaps of people are keen to show him around but idk how he feels about internet people lol
looks like you had a Kranski sausage which is a cheesy breakfast sausage. as for the fried bread you are meant to dunk it in the hangi juices but its Good by itself. if you get Cook Island food like chop suey or Mainese you should get a Cook Island donut and do the same but donut is good by itself too.
How cool Brock, you discovered one of Auckland's hidden jems! The night markets where you can literally find the world of foods in a single place. Vendors from across Auckland decend upon these places and serve some of the yummiest food you will find in NZ. It's a shame not all our major cities have something like this but looks like you had a blast and yes, you are pronouncing 'Hangi' correctly which is essentially a steamed meal traditionally made in the ground but whichever way floats your boat. I've never tried Chicken Gizzard but looks interesting, might try that on my next visit to Auckland. Hope you found the time to go and check out the ice cream at Pokeno 😉
Fry bread is my fave... Kumara is sweet potato in NZ. Hangi is usually steamed in the ground but you may have had Hangi from cooker. Either way 9.1 is pretty good!
Since you're back in Auckland, try Big J's takeaways, get a burger of the week or some burger on their menu, it's really close to Pakuranga, just over the bridge in Mt Wellington, then try flaming onion over the north shore.
Dude have you tried bacon and egg pies there's lots of different versions but my favorite is the z gomet b&e they have whole eggs my other favorite is grange rd bakery in tauranga there b&e is a mashed egg mix but very nice
That sausage looks to be a kransky. They usually have smoked paprika and some other seasonings in the meat. You can get them with or without cheese chunks in them. Originated in Slovenia. German sausage makers also make them with a modified recipe which is less fatty than the original.
Pretty sure all food stalls in NZ need to display food handling certificates for the people cooking, these are issued by council inspectors. The stalls are inspected for hygiene etc. You're pretty safe.
Kia Ora! You've been absolutely smashing the algorithm lately bro, keep going :)
Thank you for promoting New Zealand cuisine! 🇳🇿

This person got a very good metablism to be eating everything. Either that or runs on treadmill 3 hours non stop every day.
Probably doesn't eat much in between videos.

That sweet potatoe was a pumpkin & the sausage is a kransky 🔥 & yes it does have cheese in it as well. Enjoyed the video bro
I thought the sweet potato was pumpkin as well 😂

You're pronouncing "hangi" correctly. 👍
no,
No he’s not
You need to go to the Clevedon farmers market!! Best market and food in NZ!!
That 1st one? That's a snack? That would feed me for 2 days!!

NEW ZEALAND!

Korean chicken is mostly always good. Looks busy there.
If you're still in auckland, need to hit up sneaky snacky for the glazed donut burger.
Hell YES! - It's in the Lim Chour Food Hall in K Rd - go Brock!
Great shout
You have to try the traditional ground hangi. But it's awesome to watch your honest reviews.

Gotta come to Whitianga and try slice slices Godzilla pizza. blue ginger is also amazing
Great video like usual Brock 👍. But I feel you should know that orange sweet potato is called a Pumpkin 🎃 😉
You can get sweet potato in orange as well as purple. It’s not pumpkin
This is my favourite video yet!

Lmao but that ain't cook island food tho
@@mhutch5082 True, it is just what I grew up in Tok! haha
Glad to see your enjoying the foods at the night markets.
Try burger burger, it's a premium burger chain in nz, another step above burgerfuel but worth the price.
Welcome to Pakuranga!! I use to go here every weekend
$5 kebab, $5 for 15 dumplings - $10 for a great feed.
i shouldve given your camera the mana wave at the background lol good video bro
Mate, love your scorings. Appreciate you Brock. 🤙
While your in Auckland try pie rollers on K road!
Nah, PieFee on K Rd is much better
Pe rollers is owned by my cousin sooooo...
Hey luv glad your loving it!welcome
Yeah that’s a steamed hangi
Awesome review. I thought you were gonna try 🐎🤣. Maybe next time. I heard Papatoetoe markets were the best for it.

You need to try Tanz Kitchen 💯 either night markets in Papatoetoe or their store in general

Making me hungry bro. I'll pop in and grab some hangi later this week.
excellent video today
Hey bro! Try 'peaches hot chicken' and try a nz smash burger 'kanes burgers' 😎😍🤩
Would you do a meet and greet in Auckland?
Awesome reviews bro 😊
I attended a night market in the Bottany Plaza region. Nice Butter chicken.
You’re growing on me bro Tu Meke bro.keep it up 👊🏾
Is this the Pakuranga night market ?
It sure is
Hi Brock, which State are you from? Trying to pick your accent :)
trying the best NZ has to offer 👍👍

Funny bro,enjoy.
That’s where I’m taking my husband for our first date back in New Zealand
welcome home bro
🎉 love it
Can you please try grownup donuts. Any locations are good. Probably one of the best donuts because they actually care about the food
Do another night market review of more food there 💯
Brother you need to buy you a little table and chair so you can sit down and enjoy your food better…Have a good holiday bro
Dam you need to try Tanz Kitchen for the Polynesian Food. Steak and Mushroom Sauce with Mianesse and a donut. Sheesh
BROCKY BABY!!! WOOOP WOOOOOOP 😂😂😂😂😂😂❤😊
my question is do you actually finish your left overs?
Try texas chicken and compare it to Church's in the u.s
Find a Burger geeks, best smash burgers and wings ive found
Hangi is traditional Maori pit cooked meal so technically it's steamed, not boiled, should have a nice smokiness from the fire.
Broooo im jealous 😂 yuuum
Was this Henderson night markets?
Is this at pakuranga?
Yup
The hangi cooked in the ground is better than the steamed one cooked in pots.
I have a question. What happens to the unfinished food you try before skipping on to the next one? Thanks
He's a skinny dude ,but I think he eats it all😂
cool im keen to go tonight
need to try the loi hosi... bit of horse meat and very tasty
It’s juice from the hangi brother😂
What made you move here to newzealand ?
He should try spice traders butter chicken
Bro walked straight past Buldogi. Missed out broski
Someone should have told him to put salt on that hangi lol
Have you tried Big Ben pie?
I think he should do a video rating about 6 store/service station type pies. You know, like Irvings, Big Ben, Couplands and the like.
@@JohnSmith-es9qxI’m pretty sure he has done a vid with petrol station pies before.

Where is this in auckland
love it
I personally think the botany night market on Wednesday is the biggest, I love this!
Lol, you need a table and chair when eating a hangi. It's not a eat on the go affair, like a pie.
Has anyone told you that you look like that actor Hayden Christiansen? Luke Skywalker?
You're a very brave, young man! I hope your stomach won't get upset from the street food.
I've been going there for many years tried many foods, never had a tummy problem ever from there.

One thing I've noticed about the night market isthat the food is very expensive
Hangi bland as.. for some reason they scared of seasoning 😂😂
Where is this?
Where abouts in Auckland is this?
This looks like the one in Pakuranga
Maybe Henderson nite markets under Kmart
No bro the hangi is cooked in the groun should be like bit smokey
