Hi cici I am from Tripura a north eastern Indian state.Here we prepare a similar recipe called BANGUI using sticky rice with chicken or pork steamed in banana leaves
The steaming process at the end allows the ingredients to infuse with the aroma of the banana leaves, and the steaming time remains the same whether you use fresh or dried banana leaves. Enjoy! ☺️🙏

My store doesn't have lotus leaves =( can I use bamboo leaves or its only for zongzi? I have banana leaves if I csnt use bamboo.

Yep. Banana leaves give out an amazing aroma as well. It’s different than lotus leaves, but super yummy!
