Thank you so much Dr. Ganguli. Your videos on Postdoctoral fellowships and H1-B visa has been helpful to me! This has helped me win an award. However, I will consider applying for another Postdoc in Switzerland so I can compare countries. Once again, thank you for your time.

I am a Swiss govt excellence fellow and can say your video is very much accurate and informative. Only the thing is big cities like Geneva and Zurich is too expensive but the scholarship is enough to cover it.

Thank you so much for the feedback. Yes certainly these cities are some of the more expensive in the world. However public transportation is good and crime is less compared to most US cities.

Hello Dr Ganguli, I have been following your videos and they are so helpful in many ways. I recently gave a PhD interview for Poland in Earth and Environment science field, and I score almost full masks in my interview and the proposal I submitted, but the only place where I’m lacking is that I don’t have any research publication. The University I did my masters from didn’t have masters thesis which means I have zero publications with no masters project. I’m still applying for different countries, but I don’t know that how without any publications I’m going to make it, because I think that’s where I’m lacking or not getting qualified. I’m already writing academic articles relevant to my field by volunteering for a few organisations, just to add more value to my CV and for my growth as well because I like researching and writing, it’s just I didn’t get that exposure during my master’s and I want to work on that now. What do you suggest Dr? Should I write a review paper?

Thank you for your kind words. At the masters level a paper is not necessary to get admission for PhD. But it can improve your chances of you have a paper. If not a journal paper, a conference paper or a review paper can help. Sometimes you can also write a technical note to a journal also. In lieu of paper you can send them the pdf file of your thesis…

@@Drganguli Thank you for your prompt response Dr. Ganguli. I will make sure to write a review paper or a technical note as you suggested, but my master’s program was a Non-Thesis master’s program with only field training which was also hindered during Covid -19, and now this has become a bit of problem for me. Well for now, I’ll write and if you make a video over such topic and how to overcome such struggles that would be very helpful. Thank you so much for your guidance today. 🙏

Good evening sir! I am happy to share with you that two of my papers have been accepted in Scopus-indexed journals and two are under review. I hope to have 5-7 Scopus-indexed papers by the time I get my Ph.D. awarded. My question to you sir is that, are there any job opportunities for postdocs in the universities where they get their award, once they complete the assignment? Do they have to return to their country immediately after completing their assignment or can they apply for a position? I am writing a very specific proposal in my area(health psychlology) and shall be looking forward to applying in UBC(Canada), MCSA(Marie Curie), Switzerland and a few other labs. I am 49 and very healthy and energetic. Regards, Devendra

They have to actively look at the jobs in the university where they are doing postdoc to get a position. They can get assistant professor or research scientist positions sometimes. More likely they can apply to other universities in that country or outside for jobs.

I do phd in Switzerland and the salary I think you mentioned is not correct at least for my case and people I know around. Maybe I am not sure if it varies from field to field

@@Drganguli Thanks for sharing… This is quite strange that they mention the salary which is not the case with other phds here in Switzerland…
