  • Have you ever wondered about all the capabilities of our bulldozers?
In addition to their wildfire response role, CAL FIRE dozers are used throughout the year for restoration work, flood prevention, and other earthwork projects. They repair fire damage, restore ecosystems through controlled burns and habitat restoration, and reduce fuel loads by clearing vegetation and creating firebreaks, also known as fuel breaks.
These powerful dozers recently helped improve a 66-mile fuel break near Camp Pendleton. The purpose of a fuel break is to create a barrier or cleared area that can help slow or stop the spread of wildfires. Fuel breaks can also serve to protect communities, infrastructure, and natural resources from the destructive impacts of wildfires. Additionally, this project serves a dual purpose by providing essential training for our teams in advance of peak fire activity, ensuring they are well-prepared and equipped to handle real wildfire situations with greater efficiency and effectiveness.
Dozers make up a small portion of our fleet. Visit the link to learn more about our mobile equipment: www.fire.ca.go...

Obviously they’re doing this for training purposes. To create fuel breaks when fire season is upon us.
