Sorry, For the Fake Out! But, I had to upload this video twice because TH-cam told me my Side Kicks at 09:37 matched third party content of some song on iTunes! Haha! Lol!
Jake, that's fantastic that you teach a free Tai Chi class; way to give to your local community. Wish I was out there and not freezing in the northeast right now!
i always wanted to do something like this and i always go for the "do it yourself ", after looking at your videos it really show that you enjoy this both practicing and teaching , so i made an "amateur wooden dummy" and i´m practicing those six moves for beginners and this kicks , dude i have to tell you that it´s very much appreciated the effort , thank you.
Wow! Great kicks Jake! I can do all these kicks but my biggest problem is that I'm old and I'm no Jack Lalane. Us old guys need to conserve energy and a lot of high kicks expends a lot of energy. Is this where a style like Wing Chun would serve older folks better? There are no high kicks in Wing Chun and I think the style was designed to compensate for a larger, stronger opponent who's high kicks might be deadly to an opponent of lesser size.
Morning Jake; you have a new fan! Whilst doing this leg workout this morning my 3 yr old stated "That man I awesome daddy!" I'm inclined to agree! Keep up the good work buddy.
Amazing Kicks! Kung Fu Kicks Incredible! Jake Mace shows you a brief glimpse into his secrets and training techniques to have awesome kicks! Straight Kicks, then Stances, then Power Kicks, then Straight Kicks again! Enjoy!
With my two knee replacement it would be kind of hard. At your age I never new such exercises exist. Amazing to see the condition your in Congratulations Jake .
I like the videos! What do you suggest for someone like myself that doesn't have the flexibility? Any good exercises to get the kicks higher? Thanks in advance!
In case any one wants to know, Cung le was a wrestler in college and a sanshou/sanda champion. Sanshou is best for learning takedowns and long range attacks in my opinion. I am a sanshou practitioner and I assure you it's worth checking out.
hello mr mace, I love your videos and love my martial training, but i have a tendon tear in my right foot sword. Do you have any advice on aiding recovery and also working back into traing after injury. I've also in the past had trouble with tendonitis in my left wrist(weakest wrist) do you have any advice on stengthening wrists and preventing injury. i hope you can help. Best regards and wishes, Thomas box
I know you're a teacher and all but i feel like you get much more power, speed, and control for roundhouse kicks and a few others is when you're pivoting your waist, also use your opposite elbow (ex.if your kicking with your right leg, use your left elbow) to give you some momentum to your pivot. swing/snap/pull your elbow out/behind/ to the side of you and use the the momentum to your advantage.
What time are the tai chi classes? Are they every sunday? What is the address? I am a kung fu student in Tucson and would love to drive up one morning to take part in this class
Hello mate, thanks for sharing your knowledge. I have one question for you, please. When i do those first kicks inside and outside circular, my left leg dont let me do this very well... and i dont know what to do, it hurts me near to my pelvis (left side, left leg) what i need to do to equilibrate both of them?
I have a question and I hope you will se it:) How do you train your legs to lift them up so high, is there a routine which improves your leg lifting, im kinda stuck in this phase where I can't lift my leg very high to do any of the kicks shown anywhere, thank you:)
Jake Mace, Truly speaking...these kicks of yours are worst examples of kicking. Reasons: 1. No control over your center of gravity 2. Lack of foot work 3. Lack of proportionate use of upper part of body 4. Unsynchronized breathing 5. Very Slow Get some kicking lessons before developing your own kicks. It will surely help you a lot. Thank you!
thanks for all the videos! i want to start up a martial art for self defense and i am having trouble picking one.. can you give me some advice? thanks a lot ps. i have been taking krav maga for the past couple months and i dont know how i feel about it.. what do you think of krav maga?
Mrs. Morin-Rydberg, thank you for filming Sifu. Sifu, your wife is very attractive and supportive woman. You are blessed. All respect is due, to the both of you and your marriage.
You have great kicks! But, the only thing is that your roundhouse kicks look more like muay thai kicks where after you finish kicking you finish by letting it straight down instead of lifting the leg and then kicking. The reason I pointed this out is that I thought you were trying to do more sanda/kung fu kicks? Also when you are demonstrating the roundhouse your body tends to go too wide and lose balance after executing the kick. I've been practicing Sanshou recently and that's a big no no for us since its a bit slow and easy to catch. Other than that everything looks great, I'll definitely use your drills for balance and flexibility ;D
bro I used to be a taekwondo athlete 4 years ago.. well just up to green belt but I was really good. now im out of shape like seriously. any advice where and what I should do??
try working on flexibility for a week or two then do some cardio for two to three days then start doing whatever martial art u want or stick to taekwondo if u want then just workout
Your form is terrible... when you do the "round house " kick, you're not pivoting your foot properly, your heel should face the opponent, and you should follow through all the way until your toes come back to the start position, there's no power because you're kicking the opponent, you're supposed to kick through them. Props to the flexibility though - Riley Jenner, Rising Dragon School.
Jake your kick are good. Just to let you know your front kick are good but let you know you problem check out your own move your upper body is body is leaning front when your front and straight kick. It not good.you will be easier lost you balance. Try to lost that habit .the lean is you want to kick higher but you stretch is not there yet.
For someone like him, who has been practising for many years I'm pretty sure that he's aware of what you just said. Since warmup isn't the main purpose of this video I guess he didn't record it. What I'm trying to say is that your comment is unnecessary.
Philip Ståhlbrand the topic is stretching, and as it is very important to warm up before you stretch this should at least be stated in the video, or he may mislead people. now at least they'll see my comment if they decide to scroll down.
You are very keen mate, but you should concentrate more on technique than endurance. Maybe you are 30ish now but imagine carrying on like this at 50+. No good! Remember that Martial Arts are a lifetime endeavour!

Is that your backyard sir?
Help me, what did U mean with "Incredibe kicks"?
I saw some nice kicks, but nothing real spectacular.
cosmicBEstwishes to u and your wife...cool videos grate insight ,,,,,
Just a funny thought about the side kicks. Bruce Lee had a steel enforced bag for his kicks.
Jake your kick are good. Just to let you know your front kick are good but let you know you problem check out your own move your upper body is body is leaning front when your front and straight kick. i want to learn kung fu
k-tigers 900 degree kick is also good
Do you know ninjitsu?
If u do, then please share all you know. :)
you should do a cardio warmup before strething your legs with those straight kicks.
For someone like him, who has been practising for many years I'm pretty sure that he's aware of what you just said.
Since warmup isn't the main purpose of this video I guess he didn't record it.
