    Oh my God ... Oh my God ... I've got four fruits growing and getting red. And there are more three I think they're very "pregnant". I tried to take off the flower but it was already dry and hard to remove so I left there. Next year I'll remove them. Thank you for your advice Richard.

    Can you talk about how to tell when a flower is successfully pollinated? All my flowers become bulbous and appear halfway like a mature fruit, but then they eventually fall off before full maturity. I'm wondering if this means they were not successfully pollinated.

My husband tried pollinating with qtips but no luck. This will be my fifth year and I only harvested 3 in all those years.

    Hi Richard, I seem to have bacteria forming on the cactus arm ( yellow with brown spot) where 4 fruits are on. Will the fruits still grow normally ? I plan to cut off the arm after the fruit is harvested if it matures even with the damaged segment. Any suggestions on how to prevent bacterial rot?

    • @GraftingDragonFruit
      @GraftingDragonFruit  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Cynthia, your fruits will still grow normally so no need to worry about that. I would let the whole fruiting cycle finish and once its done you can do 2 things.
      1. Treat it with copper fungicide and spray the infected area to stop the spread and kill the fungus.
      2. Cut the whole cutting off and discard it away from your other plants so that it doesn't spread.
      I hope this helps, you can search through my videos for info on how to treat cactus fungus. There's a video of me showing ways to remove them. - Richard

    Hi Richard
    Thank you for your very informative videos. I just learned that my “night blooming cactus” is really a dragon fruit plant about two months ago. I have been enjoying the plant for 10 years! I have quite a few that grow in my yard. After learning about dragon fruit from your videos we pollinated several flowers and had one fruit. It was delicious. Then we pollinated 27 flowers in the next bloom. None grew into fruit. Then I saw the video where you removed the flower and then the stigma. I just pollinated 5 tonight. Will try and follow your instructions over the next week or so.
    Do you think that because the flowers and stigma were not removed was the reason we had no fruit? I live in Florida.
    Thank you for any insight you may have.

    Hi, i have two questions
    1- I’ve noticed dragonfruit plants produce two types of limbs, one kind tends to get chunky full of water while the other is skinny, long and seems to grow faster, how should I choose which limbs to
    Prune, long and skinny, the chunkier ones, or both?
    2- is it true that weather needs to reach a certain temperature for dragon flowers to actually become fruit?

    Hi. I didn’t know about pulling the flower off. Thank you for showing how that is done. Your video’s are very helpful. Thanks! Question, if you don’t mind. … I live in Central Florida and have a Haley’s Comet Dragonfruit. It gets mostly sun and is well drained. I had 5 blooms this year and hand pollinated all of them. (One on one night, and other 4 the night after) on the night I had 4, I used all 4 to pollinate each other. Few days later, seemed like they took. They were firm. On the 5 th day, I could see the color separation and was able to pull the bloom off like you showed. But a day or so later, they turned yellow. 3 fell off the next day. The other 2 have some pink, but also kind of yellow. What did I do wrong? (Going to send this your dragonfruit friend as well, please don’t be offended. I’ve learned from both of you, lol)

      Grafting Dragon Fruit is that in the order of 1,2,3? I need to get me a sugar s8 variety.

      @GraftingDragonFruit  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, it would be in that exact order. Here’s a better description of each one of my favorites!
      1. Sugar Dragon - ALL TIME FAVORITE, they basically should call this Candy Dragon. I can taste it just saying that name.
      2. Ecuador Palora - Love it for its honey tasting sweetness.
      3. Condor - AMAZING flavor profile. The tart really compliments the sweetness, every chew makes it even better. Really fun for the palate.
      4. Tricia - Reminds me of lychee and berries mixed together. Taste like a exotic candy.

    • @GraftingDragonFruit
      @GraftingDragonFruit  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I take off the flower to prevent moisture from sitting inside and causing rot to the fruit. Also sometimes fungus can grow and infect the fruit so I take pre caution by removing it when it detaches from the fruit. I have videos on how to grow them in pots in my channel. Please browse through my video list to see them all. Thank you

    Hello Richard....from my understanding the reason why we removed the dragon fruit flower is to avoid insects from staying in the flower & fruits....Because what I did is I just leaved the flowers to dry until harvesting the fruits.

    would you know why after pollinating and after 4 to 5 days, the whole flower becomes yellow and dies out? does this mean i did not pollinate it correctly?

    I just got my first fruit about a week ago. The fruit itself is firm, but I never removed the flower I was nervous.. now it's mushy including the stigma... should I just do my best to remove best I can or just leave it.

    Hi Richard. Love following all your videos on dragon fruit and will always do so. Would you be able to tell me what i am doing wrong on the dragon fruit flowers, When i am to pollinate the flowers ,some that are supposed to be opened will not open at all ,cause the tips of the flower are stuck like glue ,Could this be from lack of watering.or from the ants that are on these flowers at earlier buding stage,Please help me if you know the cause, God bless you .

    • @GraftingDragonFruit
      @GraftingDragonFruit  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi James Billy, what variety of Dragon Fruit are you having this happening to you? Some varieties take long to bloom than others. Also, are you adding any type of fertilizer to encourage strength to help with blooming? These factors will help me identify what is happening. I never heard of a sterile flower and they tend to always open. It might just be a late bloomer. Keep me updated and I’ll try to help you figure this out. We want them to bloom!

    How about if you cut them by scissors and accidentally you cut the stigma after 4-5 days? Is there is no detrimental effect to the development of the fruit?

    • @GraftingDragonFruit
      @GraftingDragonFruit  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi red xcube, if you cut them by scissors and also the stigma after 4-5 days your fruit will still be fine! It takes only 2-3 days for the pollen to successful pollinate the stigma and become a fruit. I just wait 4-5 days because it’s easier to snap and pull off once they separate from each other. And the stigma is still too moist to pull, its latched on real good. Usually about 8-10 days the stigma can be yanked off easier. There a video of me doing that in my channel.
