Movies are an art form that take on many meanings. Did I not understand Civil War based on your experience? Tell me what I missed down below! I’m always receptive to new perspectives.

It kinda reminds me of All Quiet on the Western Front, like these arent characters these are people and they arent on a journey they're in war, its not a feel good movie. This film, i think, is fundamentally a war film, more than a lot of other action films and like most real war films its anti war. Like Lee's character said, war journalism is about sending a message back home not to make the same mistakes beacause you dont want war.

I feel like your way too immature to enjoy what the movie was trying to portray. Research the history of war photography & journalism and you might understand what you’re missing

I came away from this movie with an incredibly clear message. Peace is fragile and don't lose it. The protagonist of the movie literally fed us the message of the movie. "Every time I made it home from a warzone I thought I was sending a message back home...don't let this happen here".
The movie is practically screaming for the audience to look at what is happening and to do everything they can to not allow it.
Another movie you may want to check out is Whiskey Tango Foxtrot with Tina Fey or A Private War with Rosamund Pike.
The character that Rosamund portrays, Marie Colvin, is a real war journalist who also wrote a book: In Extremis. Check that out if you wanna learn a bit more about real war photography.

This movie is about combat journalists not about a civil war that everyone thought it was about. As for her dying in the end, not every story has a happy ending. We have all seen to much tv that everyone is supposed to have a happy ending. In life nothing is guaranteed. Situations like this happen around the world all the time. I do agree with the comment bellow, I think you are a little to young to understand what this movie is trying to portrayed.

I’ve watched too much Game of Thrones to not, not be okay with important character deaths 😂 I just think her character was underdeveloped and never learned her truth. As for the young comment, appreciate it as I near 30 😂
I’m very receptive to learning new perspectives. I’m definitely not immature to learn from others and be open minded. So what do you think I missed?

I couldn't agree more, the characters didn't seem likable in my perspective. I also thought it was an odd choice to make the young journalist look so juvenile. I didn't like how they chose to make a movie about Civil War, but isn't really realistic. Such as California and Texas teaming up.

You are missing all of it.....

What am I missing? War is bad, journalists gaslight themselves, and it’s not about which side is right. What else?

Every liberal person who I know has said the same thing "but it's not politicL I don't like that."
It's about the horrors of war that's all.
