Thanks for your feedback. She’s a “work in progress” and I repair items as they come along. The previous owner had her sitting for quite a while and showed signs of slight neglect.
lol. I did consider the Mark V, since it is longer. Could not find a black or blue in a good condition. Learned about the Mark VI and that it was the last year of the box body. So, when I stumbled across her, I jumped on the opportunity to buy her. Worked out deal with seller, flew to FL from AZ, then coordinated semi and enclosed trailer (Highly recommended) to deliver it back home to me. 😎
@pucciwagon I also considered to buy a Mark VI back in the 90s, because the Mkvwas way too big. But here in Germany there wasn't (and still isn't) any service-station for Lincoln. (There still are people around, who didnt know about Lincoln to be a car brand...) So it became a (boxy) Caprice, (even a rare export model with amber turn signals and metric speedometer).
It was a few months back but I waived at you from a 89 Lazy Daze RV Motorhome while driving in Scottsdale. You have me a thumbs up. She looks great in this video and even better going down the road. So cool to see this videos. I’ve owned several 80s and 90s town cars. I love them. I’d love to have a 80-83 Mark VI 4 door.
If you’re serious bout getting 83-84 sedan I can assist. Are you on FB? If not, I can put out feelers based on what you want (color, price etc). I can also travel to location of vehicle to check it out and oversee shipping back here to AZ as I did for my own. Fee based of course…. Let me know…
I have to tell you, I got emotional watching your video. People just don't know how special these Mark VI cars really are. They barely get any respect, even among Lincoln owners. For some reason, the Mark V gets all the glory, and the Mark VI is forgotten. But my first car in the early 90's was a beautiful Lincoln Continental Mark VI Signature Series Coupe in french vanilla with a burgundy velour interior. I called her Connie. The dash was digital and warned me when I had less than 50 miles worth of gas in the tank. The air conditioner to this day was the coldest I've ever experienced and could freeze me on the hottest 100+ degree day. The seats were soft and more comfortable than a Lazy Boy recliner. And the steering was so light and luxurious I steered with one finger. The day she was stolen in the late 90's was one of the worst days in my life. And even though I now drive a Mercedes Benz S-Class, I still miss my Connie to this day. I hope yours always stays safe in your hands, and thank you so much for sharing it with us. May you continue to ride in style and comfort forever. 😉👍
Thanks for the kind words. My parents had a silver Mark IV with burgundy interior. I fondly remember riding in that car as a child. I loved those silver switches and the headlight eyelids. When my previous car, 2000 Lincoln LS, was rear ended and totaled, I was set on getting a more older model car. The LS was a gift from my late wife before her death. I considered an 80s Cadillac coupe or Lincoln coupe. I read mixed reviews how the caddy of that area looked good, but was 💩 mechanically. I stumbled across Misty and fell in love. Traveled south FL from AZ to secure the deal and oversee the transport back hm in an enclosed semitrailer. She will be my “forever” car and I will cherish the moments with her. 🥰
The Playboy mag was December 1983 issue with Joan on the cover. The Jet mags from 1983 have Lola on the cover. Cassettes in the center console include top albums of that year from The Police, Prince, Michael Jackson, Flashdance soundtrack and Van Halen. Parliament cigs were popular at that time. Its blue packaging blends well with the interior. Coins in console include quarters and nickels from specifically from 1983. Rear section has PacTel brick phone & pager, Sony Watchman B&W mobile TV player and paper map from that era of Phoenix metro area.
@@turnne: I like the boxy shape of the Lincoln’s & Cadillac’s from the 80s. Not thrilled about the big fins found on cars of earlier generations. When selecting a car to purchase after my 2000 Lincoln LS was totaled, it was an 80s Lincoln or Caddie. Later read mixed build quality of Caddies from 80s. They were pretty on the outside, but problems inside. So, opted for Linc. Parents had Mark IV growing up. Forgot Mark VI existed. Learned it was last of their boxy shape! Stumbled across it and was determined to get it. Saw an older Lincoln Town Coupe in blue that was 🔥. However under body was 💩. So…I opted to secure what I have now.
The upcoming emission standards were made only for passenger cars, not SUVs and trucks. So in the 80s those cars shrunk, and in the 90s people went away...
You can disconnect the chime if you want. I have to admit, when I’m working on the car with the doors open, the constant chime can get annoying, so I usually just disconnect the battery to avoid it, haha. But under normal circumstances, I actually enjoy hearing it-it’s got that nostalgic feel! Should I create a short video on where the chime box is located? Please subscribe to get notifications about my upcoming videos.
There is a love & hate relationship with the door chime. LOL Thanks for input. If you haven’t already, please subscribe to the channel to be notified about new content.
Nawh. I wanted to create a vibe to this rolling museum. Pack of cigs, with skin mags in back with brick phone, pager n mobile TV. …for the wheeler-dealer on the go.
I purchased it in September 2022. Many online said it was worth $17K. Seller asked $14K. Countered with $10K cash. Had it shipped back here to Phoenix with me. It was sitting in seller’s temp controlled mansion in FL. He had lots of other cars and barely using this one. I’m fixing things as they come along. She’s not for sale. The American coupe and sedan was the standard. What happened 😞?
When I first saw Ford’s Taurus with that kidney shape, I figured we were all doomed.
In the 1960's...certainly not since then

What type of engine does this car have and how long you had this car
I have the OEM 302. I’ve had her for a little over 2 years.
Let me know if you want to sell that continental

How much?
Not for sale. A couple of years ago, seller wanted $14K. I bought from him for $10k cash. 😎
You didn’t show whether or not the message center display was functional.

You must take off your shoes when entering
No. I did consider that, but it would be too inconvenient for me. I do vacuum the mats once a week.
0 to 60 MPH in 48 seconds :( I can't stand these turds...They're complete garbage compared to the late 60's and early 70's cars; No apologies!
