I love that Notion has added forms. I would love to see Notion forms not only add new records to a Notion database, but update existing records as well.
You can solve the limitation you mentioned by creating a separate database for the form. Then, you can set up an automation so that whenever a new item is added to the form database, it automatically adds that item (with a hidden field) to the main database.
send it directly to your client, so it is public, yeah, but not public on internet, it is public only on your space, and people with link have acces, so i think is difficult to bots find it. except if you put it on web page.
Good start, but for forms to be usable us, we need to be able to customize what happens when you click the Submit-button. We basically want the same UI for the submit-button as other buttons in Notion. For example: We want to set default values, select which database-template to use, send Slack/Notion-notification, create multiple linked pages - just like with existing buttons.
Great video, I use Fillout forms which are a free alternative with unlimited forms, fully customizable too. Notion forms as of right now are super basic, but hopefully that will change in the future. I was wondering what different types of use cases forms can be used other than feedback suggestions? Any idea?
Hey Thomas, I really appreciate your content, but I've encountered a problem while building my student setup that I haven’t been able to solve with your videos yet. I would like to connect two databases to one master database and display them in a calendar view without moving or deleting any pages from the original databases. This way, the pages should remain visible in the original databases while also being part of the master database. Could you help me with this issue? Perhaps by directing me to the right video or creating a new one about this topic? That would be very helpful!
For now, yes. If I had some free time, I could create a Pipedream automation to do it automatically on a schedule. And in the future, I'll be able to use Notion's upcoming web requests feature to do it automatically!
@ you are on the cutting edge of new features. You're my go to guy for notion. By the way I'm finally using my Ultimate brain. There are still several huge areas that I haven't tackled yet but for my initial purposes, I feel pretty good
Hi Thomas, thank you for this video! There is a moment where you say something like "the form can be filled by somebody without exposing previous responses" (and this is the first time that the permission issue seems to be solved). However when I tried to embed the form in a published to the internet page, the responses were exposed. Is there a solution? Thank you so much.
thank you! do you know if it's possible to create a conditional question in notion forms? For example, I want to create a question that if you select A, it will take you to question number 2 but if you select B, it will take you to question number 3 . Can someone help me with this? thanks in advance!
I have some forms that I need to give the link to outside users to have the ability to fill out. I don't want it public for everyone to see. Is there a way that I can give them access by just having the link without having to add them as invite only?
That's not possible yet, but they did mention at Make With Notion that conditional logic is coming down the road. Until then, the other commenter is right - I'd use another tool like Tally.
Hi there! Haven't tried this out yet, but couldn't you differentiate entries coming from the forms by the "Created by" being "Anonymous" (by contrast with internal forms for which people are logged in users?) Kinda hacking around the problem, but that would address the most filtering issues I think. Cheers!

Thomas, if Notion is so great, why does our bank have it on it's black list? Honestly, we couldn't pay the bill with the card that was in the system for years. Because it's not expired or overdrawn we checked with our bank, why it's declining and they said the Notion site is blacklisted, because it's suspicious.

That's a great workaround!
I'm so glad I learned about flylighter from this video. This is my greatest takeaway from this video
Am I the only one who sees the obvious flaw? How do you protect it against spam bots?

Forms are unusable for me right now. You get an email for EVERY SINGLE ENTRY and you can't turn it off. Notion support said it's working as intended.
Just create an email filter rule to auto archive or delete them.
Super happy about this update. I use Airtable for forms but Notion-native forms will be useful for some things I'm planning.

When you added the "What channel" part relation how did you get it to pull in other properties such as video, course, blog etc....
No better way to back up what you've said than by indeed having a form ready by the 13th second of the video!
You are awesome. When someone enters their email, how do you get it into your email software. Do you manually import it in?

Forms are nice if you need them, but I feel "game changer" in the Notion space is the "HUGE" in AI. Quite a bit overused.

Thank you very much! Can you export the responses from the form to Excel? I’ve tried, but it just creates an empty folder...

Hello Thomas. I got an issue. Why do you think I can’t see the view option to create a form from an existing database?
You need to go to the source of the database
Been looking at this for a while but cannot find how to have specific questions based on previous responses? Is it possible?
It’s a super basic form for now. I say: continue or start using Tally.
That's not possible yet, but they did mention at Make With Notion that conditional logic is coming down the road. Until then, the other commenter is right - I'd use another tool like Tally.

That's true! Though for internal forms, it's still an issue.
Tally is free and has an integration with Notion. I’ll wait

Does notion have a comment or private threads ?
How do I even start with Notion at this point? It seem sooooo overwhelming
Great start, but kind of useless until they add some kind of CAPTCHA functionality
Too basics. You cannot add any information or formating. Some explanation or pictures, that is very limiting. Hope they added it soon.

It's likely due to the .so domain. Many corporations block the entire .so TLD at the firewall level.
No, no, NO. NOT EVERY NEW FEATURE IS A GAME CHANGER. Disgusting.
