as a retired scratcher, this was an issue for the small scratchers like i was and seeing those copy and paste platformers get on trending while we made projects with little to no views was dissapointing and that's why i left scratch
2:03 honestly it's like burger shop, you see a burger shop/d fast food shops earn lots of money and so you start your own but the burgers are less than ideal quality and the same as the others
The video editing quality as well as the storytelling and script are truly amazing! I watched the entire video while being super engaged every single second! I totally agree that Scratch needs to fix these 2 pages especially considering they're like you said, the page that most Scratchers see and want to learn/get inspired from!

3:24 on the contrary if you see really cool projects(next necessarily complex ones) you might get demotivated and not one too do anything and also the projects being really simple gives beginners manageable goals
thats actually a great point I didnt consider! I dont think generic projects should be wiped off the featured page completly but they definetly need to be cutback on. Scratch Team needs to find a good balance

I wouldn't say the featured page is full of generic project, more like novelty projects that showcase a simple mechanic, there are exceptions but that kinda sums it up. (btw the reason you see so many accounts with similar names is due to the ID glitch only letting old projects on trending, certain people use this to their advantage and spam reupload games on old alts to get on trending) I know I'm not one to talk about genericism, I just thought I'd give my opinion.
thats some good points! i am aware of the old project id thing and forgot to include it when i said how the trending page works. its still sad to spam upload on other accounts though people need to realize that views, likes and followers on scratch doesn't matter. the featured page is slowly getting better but there are still tons of lazy and low effort projects in it. It is mostly because people don't know they want to see unique stuff and creators know how to get popular. I do occasionally play a generic platformer and enjoy it but mostly (and like 99% of the time) I am busy drawing textures or coding up conlang text rendering engines or pixel art or whatever on scratch and nothing much else in the community I am not even popular on scratch, although not many people use it anymore so that's not unexpected for me
thats a good point. some creators are good at making clickable thumbnails that somehow make people play the same generic games constantly. I have been looking at comments in some generic games for my video though and there is a lot of hate towards generic games so id say people definetly want less or none of them

If I know anything about Scratch, its that fame means nothing, since every project someone makes is not monetisable, so no money is made from any projects. While it is good to have a relatively decent amount of followers, I don't see why having thousands of followers helps anyone, considering that more famous people tend to have more haters as well. I feel like it's good for me to keep my followers in the low 3-digits, but I will eventually have to prepare for my follower count to reach higher numbers since my projects are starting to get more views. This point I mentioned in a video I made, and it's about the inspiration cycle. To summarise, children take inspiration from other creators, and other children take inspiration from those children. It's like some kind of branching inspiration path. When I counted the approximate average age of featured project creators, I got 12 as the answer. While it is very difficult to find unique projects that are actively fun, that's unfortunately seeming like the future. More complex projects take weeks or months to make, and seeing one of those projects in the 'featured proposal' studio every few days or weeks compared to the generic platformers and clickers every few minutes makes it very difficult to see high-quality projects in the featured or trending pages. Looking at the top loved and remixed sections of the front page as of typing this comment, there's a lot of cool projects I could find and I only found one generic platformer project, so I don't think the generic platformer and clicker trend isn't as popular now as it was 3 years ago. I'm seeing a lot of object camp signups and generic runners in the top loved and remixed sections, though. I did see a lot of Japanese projects in these sections, but that's mainly because the language filter doesn't work as intended. The unfortunate truth is, the only way for quality to be recognised in not only Scratch, but every social media app as a whole, is if someone either advertises their way to popularity, follow a trend, or to wait years to be noticed a little bit. I followed a small trend in 2020, and was relevant for around 2 weeks. This year, I slowly started getting more popularity thanks to my projects appearing in the very low sections of trending, but it still is very difficult to be popular in these 'quantity-over-quality' times. I know this was a unnecessarily long comment I made, but I felt like getting my opinions on the featured page across. I do agree on the points shown here, as someone who's seen many clone projects, I can agree that it is plaguing the front page with quality projects missing out on the spotlight. I'd like to talk more about my takes on the featured page, but my comment has gone on way longer than it should, so I'll stop here for now.

In my opinion the problem with the featured page is more of the lazy projects that barely have anyhting when I was researching for this video i found a project which was just a wimdow with nothing else and scratch team featured it.
