I never would have expected you to read this book. From your description it’s even worse than I’ve heard it is. At least your suffering made for an entertaining roast. 😂

This book definitely glorifies toxic relationships and abuse, I read through it very quickly and noticed some weird things but not all the weird things you noticed. I rated it highly when I first read it because it was super easy to read through and I read through it quickly. I did like Lucien, he was a prick with a heart of gold (my favorite type of character). I thought that the answer to the riddle at the end was way too easy. I knew it from the moment it was introduced. So, it really made Feyre look stupid.

I knew the answer right away but I think it was supposed to mean that Feyre never really knew love in her life. So how would she know the answer.

Book one is supposed to be a twist on beauty and the beast. It's what some women want I suppose, and the books are definitely not for everyone. But I will say the series gets better as it progresses

@@tennesseetuner I didn't think of the Beauty and the Beast connection, but it feels so obvious now. Thanks for letting me know.

@@audreygonzalez4138 😂😂😂 I totally get it. I've had to learn how to put books aside. I used to compulsively finish books, progressively getting angrier and angrier! Learning to be zen now 😂

Read the second book. You'll be like, "oh, I was a fool for thinking this was a story about Feyre and Tamlin..."

I just finished the series. The first book was my least favorite of them all. I enjoyed them but!, I agree with you. I would love to see more of the world and less of the toxic drama. It's emotional which is what I think women like about it. The second and third book with the war, I felt like I was holding my breath. The 4th book was the perfect small breather. Then the 5th book was Nestas redemption story which I'm gonna say was my favorite. Also, I would call it smut, not romance.

@@kurstielove629 Thanks for sharing! I wondered if they got better. The first book in most series is usually the weakest. And yes, definitely smut and not romance.

I know why you’re upset. Just looking at the books behind you…assuming you’ve read even just half of them…they’re actually good. Decent, complex, and interesting characters in intriguing, fleshed out worlds. ACOTAR is none of that.
I am with you and found the basic premise intriguing, but Maas did literally nothing interesting with the world building. It’s all just toxic and gross and it only gets worse. To be fair, I only read the first two books…couldn’t justify going further.
