- Join us on our full-time vanlife adventure as we explore the stunning landscapes of Ireland in our self-built tiny home on wheels! This week we come across a few vanlife problems whilst living full time on the road and have to find somewhere to sort out our vanlife DIY issues, so we find a lovely hidden gem campsite in County Roscommon, Willowbrooke Glamping and Hideaways. Once we thought we had everything fixed and had put the van back together we start to head to our next adventure but things don’t always go to plan as we encounter another vanlife mishap before leaving the site!

I think its good to see the problems that can happen, living in a campervan/motorhome, instead of everything seeming perfect all the time, which I'm sure it's not. Hope your enjoying your travels 😊
Thanks for this comment it’s good to have other people perspective on things, while I was editing this I kept telling Neil it was boring because we where literally cleaning and ripping bits out of the van, but it’s good to here that it’s good to show when things go wrong!

For your porta cassette toilet. You can SAFELY use "nappy san" type product... or DiSan.. from somewhere like aldi. The Percabonate content us key. The more of that, the better... it breaks everything down very well.. (often better than the recommended.. and more expensive) stuff & it's safe in septic systems as well.

Scotland is beautiful we have had many adventures there, but we can’t recommend Ireland enough … but saying that we will be in Scotland soon enough for a wedding 💒

Yurts are awesome ! I defiantly want to get a decent property and put up a couple of them for rentals
They are pretty cool to be honest and these things are hired out constantly . People just love them I guess . I thing it’s the fact you can go camping but your not actually camping . But non the less there pretty sweet
And that’s why I always leave the toilet cassette cap well away from the emptying hole. I very nearly dropped mine down “the hole” once, I learnt the lesson! Well done retrieving it though.
Funny thing is he’s normally so careful, think he was having a moment this day 😂😂😂

Have look at fitting a SOG unit to your toilet, you don't need chemicals and also eliminates smells whilst using ! although it's a bit whiffy when emptying.

As someone who's looking to getting into vanlife, I would love to see the 'daily issues' you guys have and you guys overcoming them more than the traveling aspect. (though not saying the traveling aspect isnt fun either).
Theres somethinhg satisfying of seeing people overcome their hurdles, its all a journey after all.

Regarding the toilet chemicals, Charles Camping in Blessington will have everything camper related. If you’re not coming that way, try decathlon Limerick. If you’re going north, Go Outdoors in Belfast. Few places in Wexford too as there are lots of mobile sites in that area.

As much as we love that idea I think the girls would not want us there forever… but we absolutely love your beautiful country and its people!!! We will be having many many adventures over the years here as we have missed out so much and want to see more! Just when you think you have seen the best bit … 5 minutes down the road there is something else that takes your breath away!!!

You’re not alone with the pull out bit on the ovens are like a mega magnet for any form of dust or debris - you can have cleaned it and it’s collected debris minutes later! Imagine building your own van makes it much easier to dismantle and reassemble to sort any bits out. Wonder why there’s a shortage of toilet fluid in Ireland… All the very best, David & Rachel 👍
To be fair we were mainly out of cities and towns and then we did manage to find some eventually on one of the cites we stayed at! But it was definitely few and far between!!!

Everything has its ups and downs, it’s part of life although we had a lot more downs when we where in the house, but we wanted to show that things can go wrong as soon as many people only see the glamorous instagram posts and think every day is easy

That happened to me a few years ago. We also happened to be in Ireland, up in Ballintoy. Our soy sauce was in an overhead cupboard though 😂 - it went in all directions including down the back of the walls. 😂😂
It wasn’t the best experience but it’s so good to hear it’s not just us, funnily enough though I had just moved it out of the top cupboard so maybe we had a lucky escape!! 😂😂😂
We much prefer a lot of the "boring" , "mundane" , "everyday" videos over the "Instagram" location videos .
Vanlife reality videos are much better and arguably much more interesting to us .
Yes some of the Instagram locations are stunningly beautiful but the best locations in our opinion are the "secret" little known spots that aren't on social media.

Hi ya Jon, unfortunately we ran out of time as Neil’s daughter is getting married and we had to return to Liverpool, so we made the decision to leave the whole of the very south out as we want to come back and spend around 5/6 months travelling round so we don’t miss anything out as the south has been on Neil’s bucket list for a long time, so we will be back over next year to explore

You guys are funny 🤣🤣atleast you now got spare lid for cassette 😂that’s one thing I hate is our motor home being dirty 🤣🤣annoys me more taking our 2 teenage kids away that are tramps at timesand think it’s mum and dads job to clean up after them atleast I am not the only one that uses gloves for emptying and cleaning our cassette I get some strange looks off other fellow motor homers with my marigolds on 🤣🤣

Fully understand what you are saying, we have had more issues than we have shown but it was going to happen as we have just turned our lives into a different direction and you have to adapt so you take the rough with the smooth! And over the past 5 years we have had more issues with the house we where in than anything 😂😂
