The saddest thing is the boat park on the right of the harbour used to be the outdoor swimming pool! Missed by all of us locals. Closed in 1995! The pool was constructed in 1900 it helped generations of local youngsters to learn to swim. We'd love to have it re instated ! Such an awesome community facility. Hope you were able to have a shared Seafood Platter at the Rocketeer?
I well remember the pool at NB. I was so sad to learn that it had been filled in. Many memories too of playing in the paddling pool filled with sea water. Lovely town.
Remember the arcade there in the 70s, wasted a lot of money in that place, Big Beano Burnette on the door bullying the little boys who went there. Then up to Mario's café for a plate of chips between 2 and a milkshake with 2 straws, Then a smoke and sneaky bottle of Buckfast in the brainshed, Ah, the good old days.
I've been to North Berwick I came out from Edinburgh for the day. The Scottish Sea bird centre is a great place to be, went out to Bass Rock stunning! In all this town is lovely. Have subscribed!, 😊👍
Neil, must tell you that this was awesome! Yes, it indeed inspired me to visit. Oh, and the last two videos, I’ve especially liked the way you had music going along as well as the ambient sounds…wonderful!
i love the way you present your videos im going to berwick on the strength of the couple of videos youve done im goong to walk the coast path there to see the scotland sign
I am going through tomorrow for 5 Days our family have been holidaying in North Berwick for over 40 years. Great place to visit especially when the Open Golf Tournament is at Gullane .
go to sea cliffe beach a couple of miles up the coast just past Tantallon castle absolutely awesome incredible view to the bass rock, tantallon castle has al ittle harbour beutiful beach surrounded by trees, its like the carabbean.
What a wonderful stroll around North Berwick. Dad used to take us there around 50 years ago and I always loved it. Have always intended going back but haven't actually done so yet. Hopefully, in the summer, I'll manage to visit now you've reminded me what I'm missing. Great video and I love the background music too. Thanks 🌟
I was in Berwick Upon Tweed only last Thursday, it was my first time in Berwick but it’s probably the nicest places I’ve been to so far. I headed into the town centre & then along one of the bridges & I headed down towards the beach & ended up walking along the coast up above on the rolling landscape of Berwick Upon Tweed.
I was there in May 2016. Festival of tulips, perfect weather, nice, colourful town... And the rocks of course, stunning view to Bass Rock (Malachi's Miracle 😂) and Craigleith... climbing The Law... Love it❤
As always lovely video, Me and my wife going to Berwick from Lincolnshire on holiday later this yeah so will be looking forward to come and see this place in person for the very first time. We never been to Scotland before, The furthest I been is Newcastle so we are really looking forward to our holiday.
North Berwick is a gorgeous wee place that's always well worth a visit, at anytime of the year. Have you ever climbed North Berwick Law? There's beautiful views from the top and it's not a difficult climb.
North Berwick is a surprisingly beautiful little seaside town isn't it? Way back in the 50's & 60's my mums dad had a friend who lived in Musselburgh a bit further along who was known as Uncle Archie. We visited in the early 70's on a steam train when I was only 3 and I can't remember a thing!😂 My brothers holidaying in Northumberland in June this year and I keep sending him your videos for places to visit 👍
Takes me back many years, not much changed, except sadly no longer open air pool which although poco cold ( 80 ° it said ! ) was the main attraction. Hope not too many be attracted! Spoil the solemnity of this jewel in Scotland's sea resorts. Thanks enjoyed one of Haddington as well DC
Looks amazing there. I've never been to the seaside before in Scotland. North Berwick looks lovely to visit! I especially liked the coin lighthouse in the beginning. Thanks for letting me see the sea in Scotland. Mesmerizing! :)
The seashores around Scotland are amazing! Further north there are deserted untouched huge sandy beaches seen as nature intended! And not a kiss me quick hat or a shop in sight - and no litter whatsoever! The far north coast is amazing!
Love North Berwick. Used to live there. Always amazed at the number of people maing fools of themselves jumping up and down in Lycra suits ... 1:11 LOL. None of that when I was a child. Lycra didn't even exist yet. 8:52 - I used to sail model yachts in the children's pool on the beach and get a bollocking for running out on the narrow walls to turn them back ! I was told to put them on a string !!! Never did. Thanks for a nice video of a walk I did many many times and then back along the beach from the harbour to the minigolf and sometime much much further with the dog.
What a gorgeous sky! I thought the music was a beautiful fit to the video. Who is the artist? I liked the way you had the music and sounds together - good editing. I was expecting Berwick Upon Tweed so this was a pleasant surprise and somewhere I’ve not visited before. Only ‘complaint’ Neil: I really hoped you would ‘invest’ 20p in the lighthouse!!
We loved north Berwick when we went a couple of years ago lovely scenery and a high street with pretty independent shops and cafes. Looking to plan for this September for places with a similar feel. Thinking of Norfolk, Cornwall or new Forrest where have you been that you would consider similar to north Berwick?
You've convinced me. Now I'll have to save up for a trans-atlantic voyage. North Berwick is indeed a beautiful spot, and your videos are excellent! By the way, do you ever meet up with the "Let's Walk" guy? You seem to visit the same places. I enjoy the videos both of you do.
Colin, did you ride the NC500? We hope to drive it this summer. Wild camping with the odd B&B. I last did it about 30+ years ago - well before it was called the NC500!
Beautiful video as usual. Since you asked, and if I recall correctly, the North Berwick Witches were allegedly employed by the Earl of Bothwell to raise a storm to wreck James VI's ship as he returned to Scotland with his new bride, Anne of Denmark. The Earl and the members of the alleged coven were tried as a result. It also inspired James to write his book "Daemonology" and a lifetime obsession with/ fear of witchcraft which continued into his reign as James I of England.
Wow!! Now that’s todays activity sorted. I’m going to be reading up on this as it sounds an incredible story! Thank you so much for the info that’s really great stuff!
I walk the dog along the beach quite often, when you look closer at the seaweed on the beach it is full of sanitary towels at different levels of rot. I see people swimming in the sea, mostly it appears to be middle aged women these days, and wonder what is the attraction of swimming in sewage. The sewage works is at the end of this beach and you can see a large pipe coming from there straight into the sea. This is the case with all the beaches in East Lothian.
It maybe a seaside town, but the beach is full of weeds, not for families with Children,or old folks, just for dog walkers or some old fool, with nothing better to do with their sad time.

We head down here about once a year north berwick is a quaint quite quiet unspoilt town with a lovely beach and harbour area, well worth a visit.
I've been to North Berwick I came out from Edinburgh for the day. The Scottish Sea bird centre is a great place to be, went out to Bass Rock stunning! In all this town is lovely. Have subscribed!, 😊👍

Very enjoyable. Almost a local as I live just along the coast at Longniddry. I liked the backing music.
Ah thank you Keith! I have fallen in love with the area!
That was absolutely gorgeous. Been to North Berwick before, but would love to go back. Thanks for sharing 😀 x
Thank you - lovely place!
North Berwick is lovely, you should do a walk in Portpatrick it is a really 9 sea-side village.
North Berwick is a gorgeous wee place that's always well worth a visit, at anytime of the year. Have you ever climbed North Berwick Law? There's beautiful views from the top and it's not a difficult climb.
I haven't no - but have just put it on my list for next time I go so thank you for the tip!
@@GimbalWalkTV Take a treat for the wild ponies up there too.
You have definitely tempted me, it's beautiful

@@GimbalWalkTV hi its the chippy beside the zebra crossing also the other good one is chippy in dunbar near roundabout
Makes one conjure up what our forefathers might have experenced on these very rocks in the 1500's or any other era. Thank you very much for the walk.

I would have done but I never really seem to ever carry cash or coins anymore!
@@GimbalWalkTV, I also noticed two gimbals on the seashore - as well as the shadow of a third Gimball!
@@GimbalWalkTV, who was the music artist?
What a lovely walk on a lovely day! The North Berwick witch trials in 1590 were infamous… lots on Wikipedia etc on that episode!
Oh I need to read about that - I love that sort of history!!
I go to school In North Berwick it’s a lovely place
We loved north Berwick when we went a couple of years ago lovely scenery and a high street with pretty independent shops and cafes. Looking to plan for this September for places with a similar feel. i remember the outdoor pool ,looks like some of the changing rooms doors still there
ah is that what they are! I didn't realise!
I am coming here for sure. Visiting in September 2024. Does a train go from Edinburgh North Berwick?
Looks like somewhere to go to live again
Hmmmm being country folk :) Listening to seagulls!!
I mind being on the Bass Rock studying the Seabirds.
Oh yes!

So relaxing. I visited Berwick when I toured Scotland on my Moto Guzzi around 9 years ago but I havn't seen anything familiar 😭
Great video.
Colin, did you ride the NC500? We hope to drive it this summer. Wild camping with the odd B&B.
I last did it about 30+ years ago - well before it was called the NC500!
Thank you so much Colin!
I hope your not confusing our North Berwick in East Lothian with Berwick upon Tweed in England? Border Town.? Which is vastly different?
This is North Berwick, different place to Berwick.
Thanks John, I'll check it out.

A very known witch was killed near St Andrews kirk, dont remember the name but she's mentioned in Outlander series

Can you do Tranent next?
Whereabouts is that?
tranent is an evil scary place
I Thought Berwick was the English border town heading into Scotland.
There’s two!
Berwick in Northumberland England, and North Berwick in Scotland
@@GimbalWalkTV That solves my querie then. Cheers.
Many of us don't like tourists.
That’s a real shame
Life is too short for living life like that
Get to California someday that's where you can see the most beautiful beaches. This one is not. I'm sorry
Ok
It maybe a seaside town, but the beach is full of weeds, not for families with Children,or old folks, just for dog walkers or some old fool, with nothing better to do with their sad time.
Are you ok?
You seem to be very grumpy 🤣🤣
What do you expee, the Costa del sol? Numpty
I’m been there 4 ago so Beautiful❤
