I agree with you about washi tape. Don’t think I ever used it on a card. As for now I’m really over the Gnomes. Don’t get them and they are everywhere 🫤
Love this card so adorable. Please post another vintage card please please. At the gym one day, after the workout, all sweaty I am sucking down a large refillable bottle of water. My friend rips the bottle from my mouth. I was like hey...she holds the bottle up and there was a huge black spider swimming around in the bottle that I was drinking from. 🤮🤮
Love the card Kelly. I started scrapbooking 26 years ago when I was pregnant with my oldest son (yeah, that actually did hurt to type) so I’ve been around for a lot of the trends. Generally, I don’t care what is popular at the time, I just do what I like and what interests me. I still make distressed, layered, foiled, etc. whatever I think looks good. I never cared for washi tape except to put on the back of an envelope. Current trend I don’t care for is super fancy envelope art. It’s beautiful, but I don’t have time to make cards, much less doubling it to make the envelope. If someone else likes it, great! Another trend I hope never comes back is the messy nest of string. I didn’t care for it then and still don’t. But if someone else likes it, great! No one ever complains that there are too many cookie choices in the grocery stores, why would they complain about too many choices in craft supplies?
I never want to see those cardboard circles that were meant for embellishments. You know what really amazes me about you? Every video you encourage. Your talents get better and better and you are already amazing, but you are humble, helpful and REALLY want to build others up to do what they love and love what they are doing. You are an inspiration. You appreciate us using your links to help you to have the tools you need to inspire us. Saying that - you also know how hard it is to find the money for all the things and you give us ways and encourage us to shop our stashes. Thank you.
I have never tired of the vintage vibe. Maybe it's because I'm a messy crafter so if I smudge my ink it's OK! Love the random nature of the textured backgrounds. Your Santa feels so authentic! Old dude, vintage background. Perfect!
🤣😂🤣laughing so hard right there with you about that spider!!! My husband orders the spider murdering spray on line and sprays all outside the house and under the sinks or else I'm calling an exterminator and he doesn't want to pay 💰 that I would be your roommate in the mental hospital having broke down bc the spider crawled on our face!!😩😫😩😩 I do however love this card and would love to see you do another vintage one YES. I have yet to use washi tape on a card but I do like to reinforce the back of an envelope closed with it in a pretty color/design though. Love you taking off in your artwork career🎉❤❤❤
Love a bit of vintage Kelly! That Santa would be one of the cutest Santa’s around atm. A big NO to eyelets and buttons coming back from me, but a bit of distressing in the backgrounds is fine with me! I know to the non crafters in my life, they think I’m a bit of a hoarder, but as you said, just a cheap chicken and don’t want to have to buy it again, because it will come back. Keep well T x 🇦🇺
I would love to see Gnomes go to rest…enough already. Vintage is so fun. Love this Santa. Love the original Snowman like Frosty style without all the carrot noses. I’m a traditionalist. I love the stamped Santa before you put the colored version on too. You could have 2 cards. So awesome. You are an awesome colorist.
Your water story reminds me of a trip home from store the beginning of summer. I drive a mini van with the middle seats folded down in middle row. I loaded all my bags of groceries in the van, start home and I hear the glug glug …. What the heck is that, I thought to myself. I get home, it’s close to 100 degrees out, open the side door and my GALLON of milk has emptied on my carpet! I vacuumed it for days with wet vac, and can still smell sour milk. Makes me gag thinking of it. 😂😂😂😂 Love this Santa card. ❤❤❤
Love the vintage vibe of this adorable vibe! I'm game for another video. 😊 Also, I'm right with you on that reaction to the spider! ::shudders:: As for trends that I don't want to see return, I'm with the consensus: no more buttons, wide ribbons, bows, brads, eyelets, and washi tape. That said, I'm okay with twine and cording for the occasional embellishment and brads/eyelets for a functional purpose, and still use my washi to add a coordinating accent to &/or just to seal my envelopes. If a stamp image/message refers to buttons, I'm more likely to use a button die image popped up to mimic a real one, but if I happen to have a real one that works with my card design, the friend is super into sewing, AND I'm not mailing the card, I *might* use a real one (like once in many years kind of maybe!). I still have maybe two dozen small white & clear buttons that I could tint with alcohol inks for those rare occasions, and I do very rarely add ribbon to my cards, but on those occasions I use thin, narrow ribbon to avoid the extra weight & bulk -- I mean postage ain't cheap like it used to be, right?! I still hold onto a small amount of all of the above items for mixed media projects, but don't intend to revisit any of those trends if they return specifically for card making. 😉
❤I LOVE the spider story, I would have done the same! Haha, the only thing I use washi tape for is sealing my envelopes, I only own a few rolls. I do NOT see the point of wax seals. I use all my ribbon bits, buttons and brads and even eyelets on tags now. I only make bunches of tags a few times a year so the old materials are holding out well. Seems like I was more afraid to use them when they were popular because I didn’t want to run out, now I’m very liberal with the bits and pieces. 🎉
OMG!!! Kelly that brought back memories of that house you and peanut were living in when you met Eric. I remember all those stories about spiders and bugs you told back then. Yes, I can picture you screaming and tossing the water bottle… I like that Santa! So often they just don’t do it for me because they’re not big enough to color really well like you just did. Loose, fine glitter glued onto cards or attached with double sided tape. There was glitter everywhere for weeks…
Love the card and the vintage vibe! I agree completely with you about spiders and bugs...at least you are mot still living in the critter house!! I don't ever want to see buttons on cards again! Lol
I’m not big on vintage, maybe because people mix vintage and grunge together and it just isn’t what I like. However, your vintage background is clean,so it appeals to me, plus this large, non-detailed Santa is adorable. This might be one of my favorite cards you’ve made, and I have watched many of your videos. I also love your story time, even if it was bout a spider. I cannot imagine…..my purse, the paperwork it landed on, the water bottle….it all would have been in the trash can without a second thought!
Love the vintage style. Funny when you asked which trend we didn’t like, the first thing that came to mind was Washi tape, and then you said it too! I used it on a card once. Once. Never again…Now I use it for taping down my dies as well. Trends I like: Vintage, Retro, Big florals that I can color. Trends I don’t care for: building a floral with stencils. I like to color and shade a flower myself…I have WAY too many patterned paper packs. I had planned to use on my scrapbook pages, but sadly I’m a procrastinator, so time to pare down..
This is the first Copic coloring video I have seen in quite awhile....I miss that "trend". I adore my Copics and use them often! My personal style is not vintage, but I enjoy seeing others who create it. I am fine with the passing of buttons, liquid embellishment "drops", and slimline cards. Never got into sewing on cards - don't want the time or hassle - so not missing its absence. I love making my own backgrounds, but find I do miss the beautiful designer papers. It has taken me awhile to pare down my stash, but I have always loved the variety of coordinating prints and patterns an artist can create from a color palette. Miss seeing ANY videos incorporating patterned paper - I seem to be the only one using it from time to time. 😔 Foiling is pricey (and I can get much the same effect from embossing),, so I HOPE that is a trend that passes quickly!
I looooooove washi tape. To look at. But every time I go to use it, I have no idea what to do with it. So now, I just use washi tape to either seal or decorate the flaps of my envelopes.
Oh Kelly this is so darling! ♥️🎅🏻♥️ Yes, Santa clearly has some vintage vibes to him and your card base carried that theme beautifully! Thank you for showing your pigments and technique! ♥️🤗 I love pretty much every trend ... except the cards that have such depth to their design (think a plethora of 3-D floral elements) that one would have to ship it in a box and hope their recipient has a quality feather duster at the ready if they are going to display it. 🙄 Kind of ridiculous. 🤷🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️
Beautiful card. The size of that Santa stamp is amazing. I am right with you on the spiders. The good Lord gave them acres and acres to live their best lives. If one ventures across my threshold, I have no mercy and just hope my husband is home to dispose of it’s carcass!
Beautiful card as always. Diggin’ the vintage vibe. As soon as you said the word spider I knew where this was headed! I was laughing picturing what all you described was happening. Spiders don’t bother me as I think I shared with you a long time ago that I’d go down in our window wells and play with the spiders. What can I say? I’m a weirdo. Lol. Buttons and ribbons can stay out of sight IMHO. Even though I have a bunch of both, I’d still be good with them never returning.
I don't really worry about trends. I still use quite a few of those items mentioned. I just make what ends up on the paper. I try to have a plan and it just never really works out that way. I use anything I get my hands on if I think I can make it work. I don't have the funds for the stuff I would like to get. I looooove your background, the whole card is beautiful.
Loving the vintage vibes I would like to see more please. Spiders no longer bother me i just escorte them outside. Bee's that come in through the cat flap likewise. Wasps are open season.
Such a cute card and your talent is still stunning!! I’m happy ❤ you are able to do this for your full time job now. Sounds like you enjoy it and we definitely benefit from the extra time you have to work on your ideas and try different ideas. I’m “down for the vintage vibe “!! I’ve just gotten into cards. I wasn’t aware of any of this until I retired from teaching and accidentally had card making videos pop up as I searched for watercolor tutorials. It’s wild because I have dabbled in so many different types of crafts and I’ve painted with acrylic since my 20’s and oils in my 40’s. I guess I’m from such a small community and no one really did anything like paper crafts?? I’ve moved twice and would seek out the art community (usually just a handful of people). With the last move to West Texas oil area there’s literally not any art associations. When I tried getting it into the schools (I’d NEVER heard of schools not offering art!!) and starting an association I couldn’t get ANY support or interest from the Mayor, Chamber or school board. Hopefully, after we complete our remodeling, I can start some classes for children and adults in a building that is in the backyard and/or the house. I’ve been super excited about starting my new crafts. I’ve been watching but when I sit down to create a card I find myself feeling lost and overwhelmed. I’ve made three cards and each one has taken so many hours!!! I’ve never felt this way before when starting something new…even oil painting wasn’t this intimidating, etc. Maybe I will just copy what someone else has created until I get a “feel “ for the designs. I’m not sure why I seem to struggle with putting together something….. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated… Blessings, Nancy Rolfe
Washi tape is the worst. I have only used it a few times, it doesn't stick well and peels up so yes only good for dies.perfect pearls are one of my favorites. Not that they ever went out of style, just not used as often. Great card!
I remember turns out very pretty sometimes with gold metallic ink did some christmas backgrounds that way. Also once I did kraft card with teal blue and white pigment ink snowflakes and vintage photo distress. ORTHO HOME MAX WORKS WELL AND PET SAFE STEM AND ZEVO WORK.
Normally I get depressed when I see a vintage style card LOL but this one is fabulous! Just enough vintage, yet still vibrant focal point. I still gravitate toward CAS but would not want to see buttons and bows on cards. One button maybe; skinny twine okay. But multiple buttons and grosgrain or satin bows - no thank you😂
Darling Santa card! I'm just getting into vintage. Your card inking & torn paper gave me more ideas to use on my cards. I'd love to see more vintage ideas. Thanks!
Kelly, my mum hated spiders. Someone told her to put down horse chestnuts around doors and windows. Of course you need to be careful as Kaitlyn and the dogs are running around. Another fabulous card. Love, hugs and prayers. To you Kelly, Eric, Nathan, Kaitlyn plus your mum and dad.xxx❤❤ ❤ from Northern Ireland.
Gurl FACTS!! spiders yuck! totally love this Santa, bring on the vintage but then I'm a fan of all things kelly taylor! you never seize to amaze me, I'm a sucker for holidays especially Christmas! one trend I never got into is buttons and eyelets ( remember the lil metal setting tool and hammer??? 😂DEFINATLY not my thing! but im so grateful you share your creativity with us! thank you kelly🤗🥰
I love BIG stamps & I cannot lie!! Yes...that's been said. I said it again without shame! I still tear paper in my crafting. I use ribbon occasionally (because I have A LOT). I do NOT like stickles! I don't like using the stickles to outline an image, a shape, a sentiment...no thank you! However, I have lottsa stickles...I have since seen a youtuber use them to paint over their images so it's just a broad sparkly whatever. That has renewed my "cheap chickeness" to use them up!😊
Love the card. Love your spider story time .. my scared scream is grasshoppers. Ugh!! The ones with wings are even worse. Who said they could have wings. ?
Love this! I honestly thought I was going to pooh pooh Christmas cards this year. I don’t know why, maybe because it started in July. Anyway, you have inspired me to drag out my old Christmas wood mounted stamps. I like the vintage look. It’s hard for me to throw anything away but I still have buttons, washi tape and a ton of stick on letters. Can’t see ever using them again. Ha. Also, never liked the cutesy doily ribbon stuff.
Love this vintage card and would love to see more…I’m not sure what trends I don’t want to come back but I have so much stash I could cope with the return of most things 😅😅😅
Love Santa! I'm in agreement about the ribbon but I also would not like all the 3D flowers to come back. Hard to mail a card with those little hummers on.
Hi Kelly. My 7 year old daughter and I love watching your videos. Her favourite ones are the sangria card(she hadn’t asked what that is yet 😂) and the potion bottle one. She has watched them over and over lol. Thank you! I was wondering if you could do a video on the poppy cards you did for Hero Arts. They are absolutely stunning. I don’t think I really have a least favourite cardmaking trend or a favourite one. I don’t follow trends but if I like the technique or result, I will use it at anytime but am glad that supplies I may need are readily available if that technique is trending.
I wasn't a crafter at the time but a few years back I remember that matting and layering seemed to be a big thing - the more mats and layers the better. Put me off starting to craft for years!
Love the vintage vibe and yes would love to see more. This card is beautiful, love the Santa. I am with you hate spiders🕷 Thanks for all of inspiration Kelly💕
I'd love to see your other vintage ideas! I love the look. This one reminds me of when I was a child. - I hope mulberry paper stays way deep down in my stash ;-)
This santa is so cute. I will always love your coloring ❤️. I like the vintage to, so I would like to see more of this. I'm not good at it. I never want buttons back, and I don't use washi tape.. not at card.. and not the kind of plastic, sometimes kind of fabric flowers.... I have them... bud should get rid of them. I know I will never use them😁 Spider...🫣. I would have done exactly the same as you. I hate spiders, or I'm so frightening 😆😆. They will all die, if they come my way 😆😆
Haha, I like listening to story time😄 I don’t know if I’ve been doing it long enough to have a worst trend list. I would agree that washi for me is really difficult to use, so I’m good on that one, to each their own. I think overuse of buttons and ribbon would drive me crazy, My biggest pet peeve are supplies that don’t last in storage, I’m looking at you pastes! The press n seal trick works pretty good though.
Would love to see your other vintage idea. I’m with others, no more buttons! I was thinking the same thing as your other follower about how much I’ve enjoyed see you do other techniques now that you have more time. Saw Dawn’s video you referred to. It was great and her cards were gorgeous. Keep up the good work!
Trends but unrelated to crafting: target seems to have time warped to 1992 with their teen clothes. My niece thought the baby doll dress was amazing. I pointed out the parachute pants. Everything old is new again! 🤣
Love this card and the vintage look. The spider story… uh yeah, I’d do the exact same thing. Do not bring back eyelets - that hammering drive me nuts!!!
Washi tape! I had it, but when I did use it, it never stuck. I just donated my small stash. Also buttons. I have quite a lot of those I need to ride myself of. Great card; I always enjoy watching you color.
I agree with you about washi tape. Don’t think I ever used it on a card. As for now I’m really over the Gnomes. Don’t get them and they are everywhere 🫤
I'm so done with gnomes and also mermaids!
Noooo....I would die 💀

No one ever complains that there are too many cookie choices in the grocery stores, why would they complain about too many choices in craft supplies?

Trends… *whispers* I don’t like the gems and pearls thing… please don’t chuck me out of craft club! 😂
That’s hilarious. No worries girl, I’ll sneak you into the club through the back door. 😂
Love a bit of vintage Kelly! That Santa would be one of the cutest Santa’s around atm. A big NO to eyelets and buttons coming back from me, but a bit of distressing in the backgrounds is fine with me! Love, love, love this card! Yes more vintage. Vibrant Santa, just beautiful coloring!!
I would love to see Gnomes go to rest…enough already. Vintage is so fun. Love this Santa. Love the original Snowman like Frosty style without all the carrot noses. I’m a traditionalist. Super cute card. Loved the spider story! Eek!
Love the card and the vintage vibe!

I like your vintage style very much. Great Santa. Enjoy your videos, watch every one. Like your voice.

Love the Santa. You did an amazing job. I don't like the buttons or the washi tape. Thanks for sharing.
Love this card… yes to more vintage and even a bit of grunge… have only been cardmaking since 2020 so it’s all new to me…

THAT WAS AN AWESOME JOB ON THE SANTA . I LOVE IT ! I AM NOT SURE ABOUT THE QUESTION THAT WAS ASK !
First time watching your videos. Loved the vintage Santa!
Darling Santa card! I'm just getting into vintage. Your card inking & torn paper gave me more ideas to use on my cards. I'd love to see more vintage ideas. Thanks!
Yes please, more vintage. I absolutely love Santa. Your coloring is so fabulous. ❤❤
I like vintage, particularly around the holidays. ❤❤
I’m loving the vintage vibe!
That has renewed my "cheap chickeness" to use them up!😊
Love your card . We were doing to vintage look back in 1996
Amazing coloring and I love this card.
Me too! I don't follow trends! I love your videos. Also I've your stories!
Love the card.
Love your spider story time .. my scared scream is grasshoppers. Ugh!! The ones with wings are even worse. Who said they could have wings. ?
so cute! I think my least favorite trend, is splatter, never use it and even though it looks great when others do, I just can't.
I love the vintage look. You're such a terrific colorist.
I'm like you when it comes to spiders. Even fake ones. They scare me to death.
Another stunning card absolutely love your work
I love this card. I would like to see more vintage. Glad you are getting to do this full time!❤
Absolutely love the Santa. I just found you on TH-cam recently. I so enjoy watching your videos! Fabulous job.
Love this vintage card and would love to see more…I’m not sure what trends I don’t want to come back but I have so much stash I could cope with the return of most things 😅😅😅
Buttons!!!
Torn edge - used to that years ago! Love the background. Don’t bring back grommets.
Love Santa! I'm in agreement about the ribbon but I also would not like all the 3D flowers to come back. Hard to mail a card with those little hummers on.
Great card and loved the vintage vibe
Luv the vintage vibe you created, because it’s a modern vintage with the clay snowflakes and gold embellishment.
totally digging vintage vibe xx
Love the vintage vibe…..awesome coloring!
Love the vintage vibe
I wasn't a crafter at the time but a few years back I remember that matting and layering seemed to be a big thing - the more mats and layers the better. Put me off starting to craft for years!
It was definitely a huge thing for awhile
i agree about the ribbon!
Love the Santa and the vintage vibes. Please do not bring back buttons.
I love vintage look
Ribbon and buttons
Really enjoyed the lesson in vintage and your storyline. I hope to view your tutorials more
Love this santa
Kelly, another adorable card! Please share ALL of your ideas with us. Thank you!
Love this Santa he is adorable ❤
Love the vintage vibe and yes would love to see more. This card is beautiful, love the Santa. I am with you hate spiders🕷 Thanks for all of inspiration Kelly💕
Love the Santa but I don't go for tearing my card stock to make it look vintage. 🐞🇦🇺
Love the card. Love the vintage.
I know I will never use them😁
Spider...🫣. I would have done exactly the same as you. I hate spiders, or I'm so frightening 😆😆. They will all die, if they come my way 😆😆
Love your card. Thank you.
I love Christmas any time of the year, Jan Hockenberry
Haha, I like listening to story time😄 I don’t know if I’ve been doing it long enough to have a worst trend list. I would agree that washi for me is really difficult to use, so I’m good on that one, to each their own. I think overuse of buttons and ribbon would drive me crazy, My biggest pet peeve are supplies that don’t last in storage, I’m looking at you pastes! The press n seal trick works pretty good though.
That's a darling card!
This is absolutely gorgeous. Your painting is beautiful too. Thanks!!
Love love this card. Love the vintage brings me back.
Yes! Would definitely like more vintage videos, especially for Christmas themes. Beautiful Santa!
Your cards are gorgeous and this is no exception. Love the vintage look and you did it so well. I think that the big bows are a no no for me. 💕💕💕
I love your cards and this is no exception! Do what you love and never work a day in your life...isn't that what they say!?
I would like to see the the jagged edges Siri series of scissors come back I have so many of them and I love using them
Would love to see your other vintage idea.
I love love love this card and vintage. Never bring back brads!
Washi tape! I had it, but when I did use it, it never stuck. I just donated my small stash. Also buttons. I have quite a lot of those I need to ride myself of. Great card; I always enjoy watching you color.
GORGEOUS!!!Love it!
