    I was 10 in 1990, kmart was such a integral part of our lives back then. Kmart, toys r us, venture, radio shack, celebration station, all of these stores from my childhood are disappearing. So sad. I would give anything to go back to 1990 and stay there forever!

    Pathetic that Sony Music should even give a rat's ass about "rights" for snippets of songs which just happen to be in a low-quality home video. A shame that YT caves into their demands.

    • @themilitarianpartyofameric6464
      @themilitarianpartyofameric6464 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's actually the law in that respect. Demonetization for "offensive" content, that's solely YT...

    • @jonnygrey3497
      @jonnygrey3497 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      YT doesn't "cave" it protects itself and it's users from serious legal troubles with their copyright systems which the entertainment industry agrees to abide by voluntarily even though they don't have to - they could seek prosecution and/or sue every person on YT that posts copyrighted material if they wanted to instead of letting YT handle it primarily without legal consequences.
      And they don't care about snippets in home video's but when it gets posted on YT with monetization(by users or other advertisers) and starts generating revenue for someone, no matter how big or small the revenue is, it's no longer a "home video" it's a "product" which their snippets have contributed to and they legally deserve their cut of.
      Copyright issues may not be fun to deal with on YT and the claims of violation may be total bullshit at times but it's a hell of a lot more fun and less expensive than going through the legal system to deal with it.
      That's why some companies harass users whose content has been disputed but found to be fair use and they keep bringing claims repeatedly because the only real way for the user to deal with it is by going outside YT through expensive legal channels and courts with judges that may interpret things differently and be more likely to side with the copyright holder - so usually they just stop fighting and remove the content.
      TL;DR - this system is best for everyone involved but it sure as hell isn't perfect - if you want perfect in this world you're shit out of luck.

    Oh my goodness, as a decade long Kmart store fan, I can't tell you how long I've been trying to see photos of the interior of a 1980s era store. Seeing photos from that time frame is EXTREMELY rare and you provided some amazing thorough walk through footage which is a thousand times greater. Props for decided to shoot that footage, including even the back breakroom, and many of the products on the shelves. Also, props for everyone working there back then for being awesome about it and allowing you to shoot this. This footage is rare gold I really mean that too! Definitely save this footage and make copies.

    All of these people look like they are enjoying being in the moment. Everyone seemed to talk to everyone, even complete strangers would greet, smile, strike up a conversation, or even just laugh with them. Everyone was social. It seems like a completely different world pre-2000s.
    People today are the complete opposite. Strangers rarely talk to each other. Everyone is in their own world. They just want to go out, get what they need, and come back home without talking to anyone.

      I'm glad I'm not the only one who notices this. I grew up in the 90's, and people were definitely more friendly and social for the most part. And the part you mention about people just getting their stuff and going is so true. It's why you hardly ever see anyone actually eat inside a fast food restaurant anymore. Instead, they just grab their food and go. Sadly, it's also why a lot of people are doing online shopping instead of going to malls or the store, because that way they can just get their stuff quickly without actually having to socialize.
      I really wish I could go back in time to when people actually gave more of a damn about one another and just enjoyed life more. :(

    Some of my earliest memories of going to K-mart are from 1990-1991 when I was only ages 5-6. I still loved going to K-mart up until recently because they never really remodeled their stores, and it always reminded me of my childhood. Sadly, most all K-marts near us are gone now. :( This video made me smile from beginning to end and took me back to much better times. Thank you so much for taking this great footage and sharing it with the world!

      @@mallaholicretailadventures yeah, when people say how Kmart was stuck in the 80's, yet none of Big Kmart matches this video from 1990, how "stuck" are they really? Hint: they're really stuck in the late-90's, but Millennials are too young to remember the 80's, so they call the 90's the 80's.

      I agree, most of the stores got updated with early 90s theme and the rest except for maybe 2-3 went through a VERY aggressive overhau with the Big K theme. When people say the stores looked old and updated they're actually seeing the late 90s Big K update.

    These were the years when Kmart still stood a fighting chance but sadly, they slowly were eliminating the "Blue Light" specials which was one of the main things that brought customers into the stores. Then when they introduced the Martha Stewart line of goods which were high quality but too expensive for what those shopping at stores like Kmart were looking for...sales started to tank. Kmart also failed to compete by converting all stores to the Super Center concept to compete with Walmart & Meijer.
