Yup...absolutely it is. Arguably, one of the best "initial," first LP releases in music history. It helped GnR blow the walls down at a particular time when music was a bit bland, and needed a good kick in the ass to get things going again. Not particularly complicated music, but some good ol Rock n Roll, and just what the doctor ordered at the time. One of those bands that let "ego" (and of course, a bit of substance abuse), tear em down, and left us music fans to wonder "what if?" Even if there'd not been another song done after AFD, I believe it would have been more than enough to vault these dudes to legendary status.

Lol, most of the 80's are still a blur...but, I can get my time frame halfway correct by the music that came out, and what vehicle I had. Pretty bad, but it's called the "80's of excess" for a reason. There was some really kick-ass music that came to be back then...

I heard something similar about Slipknot’s song Eyeless. Where (I believe) Cory Taylor heard a homeless man repeating the phrase “you can’t see California without Marlin Brando’s eyes.” And it ended up in the song; though I don’t know how true that is.

Ah, the first Guns `n Roses song I ever heard. I was 12-13, I wanted the album so bad, but didn't have any money. But my younger sisters birthday was coming up so I persuaded her that she had to buy it (and of course let me listen to it as much as I wanted) for the money she got for her birthday. This was before the cover was banned so a 9 year old girl bought a Appetite for destruction LP with a rape-killing machine on the cover (yes this was when the album first came out, and yes our mother was present and had no objections, she was always pretty cool about things like that...). 😂
