I actually would have thought that clothes would be a number one returned item. Wrong size, wrong style, wrong color, poor fit. It's hard to buy clothes for ourselves without trying them on first and that is doubly true when gifting clothes to someone else.
I work in retail and was surprised at how much thought and care people put into gift giving and knowing this it is so sad to see people just return their gifts. Some people don’t get many gifts too
Why? As someone else pointed out here, when you buy a Christmas gift for someone, you need to think about what THEY like, NOT what YOU like. Not everyone has the same likes and dislikes.
People like that who are ungrateful I would just go to wal mart buy that one soap bar labeled bug lump of coal(it's charcoal soap but personally the soap name is perfectly fitting for the rightfully deserving people) @@susannpatton2893
It’s traditional for me to buy my daughter perfume each Christmas. She loves having a nice perfume that she couldn’t afford or wouldn’t buy herself. This year I got her Vera Wang’s Lovestruck, and she immediately put it on. It’s a lovely scent and really suited her. I say if you know them well enough, and know what scent they would like, get it for them!
5. Love em. Give me all the candles 4. Picture frames. Thank you. I’ll start looking through pictures to frame. 3. Candy. If it’s chocolate. Give it here. 2. Perfume? You need to know what I like. Otherwise, I’ll use it as room deodorizer. 1. Vacuum? They’re expensive. I hope I asked for it.
You should be grateful for anything you get...really...people have become so terrible....man i still remember getting a brown paper bag with cannies and fruits in it! Loved it!❤
Quite possibly the worst gift ever is a bathroom scale! My dad gave one to my mom, on Valentines day no less, and it was cold at our house for a long time!! Dad didn't understand. Mom had said we needed a new one... clueless.
@ I make a bread called cinnamon bread delight, I found it on Allrecipes. That's the recipe I use with my Amish friendship bread. It's always such a big hit, and fairly economical. I use apple butter in place of the apple sauce in the recipe. Give it a try. It's worlds better with the friendship starter, but still delicious without it. I don't think I'd want to bake anything with chocolate chips as a gift. That would definitely be too costly. I also make a loaf of white bread, that is also economical. I do buy my flours in bulk. I highly recommend trying it. It's absolutely insane how thrilled people are over home made white bread.
Quit being so stuck up and entitled! I love candy canes and love giving them out on top of the Christmas gifts or with cards. They are pretty, plus they can be used to stir hot chocolate with. ❤
I noticed a lot that when people buy presents for people, the buyer usually buys something that (the buyer) likes, not something the receiver is interested in. If you are going to buy something for someone you need to think of the receiver’s interest. Candles, frames, candy, perfumes/colognes, clothes, etc are all personal. If people return them I don’t find it a bad thing because the buyer didn’t think of the receiver but rather then themselves.
Good point! It’s never a bad idea to find out a person’s favorite thing or get neutral gifts for like secret Santa, dirty Santa gifts. Or if all else fails, get something you wouldn’t want to return.
I cringe every time someone gives me a candle. And I KNOW I’m going to get at least one every Christmas. I can’t dodge it. And as far as scents, my poor neighbor…I gave him Aqua Valve (?) every year…I was 5 yrs old when I started THAT. And my Gram gave me socks, but I usually needed them! LOL
Yes, I act like I appreciate all the gifts I’m given. I don’t return anything. But it may not last in my house forever unless it was a gift from my kids. They watch what goes to goodwill 🙄
Years ago my hubby and I went to Marshall Field to get a vacuum cleaner because they were on sale. While he was making the purchase I went to the boys clothing dept to try to get a certain jeans jacket for one of my brothers who was hard to fit-very skinny, very tall. My mother told me I don’t care how you do it just find him one. I went in like I knew what I was doing. The clerk said oh are you the one I was saving it for. I said yes and he went in the back and brought it out. Anyway my husband had them gift wrap the vacuum like that was my big present.
I give picture frames as wedding gifts. It started after I heard 2-3 newly married couples mention they had all these wedding photos and no frame. When actual stores were a thing I'd go to Bon Ton and get a really nice set of multi size frames. Bonus was the free gift wrapping that looked way nicer than what I can do.
I try to give gifts I know the recipient will likely use instead of buying a gift simply because I feel obligated. Why give a gift you know is likely to be returned for cash when you can just give a gift card or straight cash and cut out the stress of hunting for a gift, unless you enjoy that hassle and throwing your money away. I love getting the peppermint candy that usually only comes out at Christmas time, such as Hershey's Candy Cane kisses or Andes peppermint.
These all make sense because they're all a matter of personal choice. Thoughtful, maybe? But everyone has their own style or dislike of scent and taste. This would also go for clothes, books... It's nice to surprise but it's also okay and kind to just ask 🙂I know someone who had to give up the candy they were given this year because they were allergic to it not because they didn't want it. I'd love a new vacuum cleaner but If someone were offering to pay, I'd honestly like to pick out the brand.
🧐🧐🧐 it’s not like most of these people get these gifts w the receipts! So is it even worth the drive & wait in line for returning something that’s really not even worth returning? Just stick it in storage & use it as a regift, just make sure ya don’t gift it to whomever gifted it to you!
Out of curiosity what would be something that Chicago returns? Like cheese from green bay? The candles to me were the worst because 99% they are regifted. The vacuum not so much but more people are moving away from carpet to bare floors.
😂 this is so funny I actually bought myself a Christmas present this year. A new vacuum cleaner and I want to take it out dancing I'm so happy
Same! One of those stick cordless ones and on sale!
I actually would have thought that clothes would be a number one returned item. Wrong size, wrong style, wrong color, poor fit. It's hard to buy clothes for ourselves without trying them on first and that is doubly true when gifting clothes to someone else.
I'd be happy to receive a vacuum cleaner as a gift.
Heck yeah they are expensive
@@shanac5536specially if it’s a good one. Hubby thought I was nuts when I wanted one for Christmas. Then he saw the price.

What ever happened to its the thought that counts and be grateful for what you get
My 24-year-old son wanted $150 bottle of his favorite cologne, so thats what he got & he was thrilled.
That's so mean. Be grateful for whatever you get.
Why? As someone else pointed out here, when you buy a Christmas gift for someone, you need to think about what THEY like, NOT what YOU like. Not everyone has the same likes and dislikes.
Why?They obviously didn't put any thought into gift buying. So why should I be grateful?

I think as long as you know what the person likes, any of those gifts are perfectly good.
I am happiest when my children make me something from school! All the other stuff is fine too!
I got several of these gifts for Christmas and love each and every one of them.

I do that with perfume I'm not fond of too! I may never wear it but it can still have a purpose.
Exactly, I don't wear socks but I could start too!
If a perfume has any kind of lavender in it, I'm returning it. Gives me a headache.

Great voice!!

It doesn't matter what gift you get its the thought that counts everybody seems to forget about the thought not the product
Ive gotten some of those things and never thought anything shitty like that.
I love a good vacuum for Christmas, actually! Shark!
Quite possibly the worst gift ever is a bathroom scale! My dad gave one to my mom, on Valentines day no less, and it was cold at our house for a long time!! Dad didn't understand. Mom had said we needed a new one... clueless.
The last two should only be given to someone who wants that particular one. As far as candy, I wouldn't turn any away. Especially good chocolate.
I don't know anyone who thinks perfume as a gift is someone's way of telling them they stink
I’ve never returned a gift in my life.
Same.
Old spice was “Women can’t wait for their men to return from the sea!” Irish spring was the “ men like it but I like it too”
I quit buying gifts. I do baked goods lol
I do that, it just sucks all the ingredients doubled in price.

Sad. That's why I only give a few gifts and I give people exactly what they ask for.

Quality chocolates have markings on top that will tell you what's inside. Vanilla will have a V on top for example. There's no need for a "map".
I dont fake it. I will give it back as soon as I open it. 😏
