My CZ-999 Compact is my favorite hand gun. The trigger is so smooth and it is very accurate. I'm hoping that with Zastava importing them that accessories, such as holsters, sights, and grips will become more readily available.
The CZ999 is shockingly accurate for how rough its made. As noted on your IG, its quite literally my favorite pistol I own. I have glocks, 1911’s, a 92fs and quite a few others.. but the Cz999 is just awesome. Id like to see what lights fit the EZ9 and if you have the info, when the release if EZ9’s will be hitting the market.
@NSA 000 The machining is good, it's just that some of the tools in the factory are really old. Manufacturing process is more "sweat heavy" than should be at this day and age. What I am saying is that the factory itself needs to retool to higher level of automation.
These were $300 a few years back, I regret missing out. When they disappeared, the Arex showed up, but I wasn't interested. It's not very polished for over twice the price, and the controls aren't ambidextrous either.
Excited about these coming back. Last time I saw them at retail I was tempted to get one because it was so damn cheap. Glad to have another chance at it.
I've had an EZ 9 for about 9 years. Never felt like I needed another pistol. As accurate as I expected and once I get the feel for it at the range I can dump a mag in a nice little circle as fast as anybody would reasonably expect. Only issue with the gun I would say is I have small hands so when firing it's easy for me to hit the mag release button, so I filed that side down some and that helped. And the price is great from an experienced gun manufacturer. If you're on the fence or thinking about a Sig give this a shot.
This basically a Sig Sauer knockoff. Not saying it's a bad gun but if one wants a SS, they should probably go for a SS, they have many affordable models and many used ones are on the same price range of 399 dollarinos This gun has its own merits too, but the buyer needs to do research before deciding what they get

Zastava posted the MSRP for the EZ/CZ999 line: $699. So they priced them higher than the Arex base model, which the EZ9 compares to. There went my interest.
Well you saw one at ShotShow because Zastava will be exporting their own guns to the U.S. Market here in the summer of 2019, so your wish may be coming true!
I have it in .40 S&W. I little break in period. No problems. The .40 comes with a ported barrel and slide. The decock lever could be a bit slimmer. Other then that. 5 or 600 rounds it's been perfect. Happy to see they're coming from USA this year. I have a few SIGs. I'll compare them anytime. Thanks for sharing your review.
Man I was looking for these guys when I was first shopping for a hand gun. Really disappointed to find out that we couldnt get zastava products as is in the U.S. Always love your review of the more obscure options available on the market, and looking forward to pick up some zastava stuff when it hits the market, great review. End note: If you want a sig style handgun without the prices, you may really want to look at these handguns.
There is another manufacturer from that part of the world, TRB which produces 9mm pistol model RS9 Vampire. I am not sure if it's in serial production yet, but it's promising design which borrows some ideas from EZ9 (Sig) . The novelty there is polygonal barrel (whatever that is)

I got in on that too (40 cal compact ported). Was on the fence due to availability of parts and such but for the price, figured I had to (they sold out in like a day). Hadn't heard the Zastava USA announcement... but now I'm glad I bought it. Seems parts and service will no longer be an issue. Shouldda bought two! :D

I picked up a C999 just last week. Pretty good shooter, nothing to complain bout........other than trying to find sights, grips or holsters for it. Do the grips swap among the 3 models??? I did find out the old Beretta 92 mags work when you cut a new mag release hole in 'em.

Got mine for just over 300 out the door. I've owned Sig's, sold em. Anyone that's going to pay that much money when there's something like this out there is only in it for the name and prestige. Sig starts with an s they should also give a t-shirt to every person that forks over IMO that pornographic amount of money to purchase one with a big S on the middle and it doesn't stand for Superman either.
The Zero 1 took this design a few steps further and integrates modern manufacturing and higher-quality tooling. At their roots the two are practically the same, but in hand there is a BIG difference in manufacturing quality.
@@GBGuns the 999 is pretty price right now where as I got my zero one for 450ish and replaced the plastic grips with g10. It’s one of my favorite shooters. My 229 is the competition stainless from years ago and was like 3 time the Arex but fast trigger and stainless. Weighs allot. Would you say the 999 is a classic combat pistol experience? Or should I stick to my Arex and my sig? I love the feeling of “this must be what my grandpa felt” when issued a firearm.

They are a lot like my Astra A-100. My Astra rocks. Given that its all steel and very heavy with an 18 shot mag (and a Clinton 10-shot), not the best carry option but back in the late 80s it was a good option if a Sig was out of the question. Its got a sweet trigger. @@ZASurvivalist I never got the impression. For the cost the Arex didn't impress me. It's a moderately cheaper Sig, but I see it on the slide/frame fit and machining. Very blocky, with an average trigger. Oh and to repeat, the controls suck. I'd wish they'd drop the fudd safety, copy the EZ9.
Remember Slovenia was part of Yugoslavia too. They made some of the original parts, I think. As part of the broken up Yugoslavia they had rights to the design as well as Zastava.

SO Zastava USA has brought them back in. I see everyone is selling them at $570 now. For those keeping score... That's near or above $300 MORE for for the same gun you could get from Century (Losers) for $269 in 2017. Zastava Sh&t the bed with this massive price increase. Plenty of other Pistols out there for way less, some just as good or way better.

I certainly remember them, never seen even 1 in anybody's possession or at a range. I guess I never took interest as I had a SIG P228 and my thoughts back then were Ex-Soviet guns, copying a German design and likely not nearly the same build quality to a German SIG-Sauer, why buy it. Fast forward 20 years, spent plenty of money on firearms American and Foreign and seemingly places like Czech Republic, Slovakia and the other old Satellite Nations, do make functional firearms but many of them weren't as aesthetically pleasing. I worked with the Romanian Army and they all carried some Zastava pistols and I'm sure they worked but they looked like a pile of junk, rough around the edges for sure. I'm sure with the advent of time, equipment improvements and these companies realization that if they want to survive they will have to build a product for the consumers and not just for some 3rd world military contract. The CZ999 looks great without a rail and those wood grips, I would prefer more firearms went that direction with concealed carry pistols. Keep up the good work!

Wish they'd bring in reliable shipments of the old 1.5mm receiver OPAP Yugo AK's as well. They could market the AK's, these pistols as well as the Yugo Tok's, and the Zastava commercial Mausers and bolt action .22's. They'd make a damn pile of money. The American gun industry is way out of touch with what the American gun buyer wants. If these fucking pot metal and plastic gun makers won't give us what we want them SOMEBODY needs to buck the tide and become a RELIABLE importer of QUALITY AFFORDABLE arms.
A lot as of today. 400 to 450. 9mm is much more expensive. 45 seems to be nonexistent. Only 40 cal is leftover. Too many people knew that these guns were more accurate and had better controls than the original sig 226.
Expect crude machining and that, "is the cold war over?" Quality, but darned accurate and the 2x4 width makes them a pleasure to shoot if you have large hands. I have all 3 generations and move them for their charm.
It's really a shame that the politics and corruption has held them back, but for a simple fighting machine they're functional and reliable. Fun on the range too
Unfortunately these guns aren't the value they once were. Machining hasn't improved and the new importer is asking Sig prices for them. For that much money you might as well just get a Sig and have a gun with holster and mag support.
It's when while slamming the magazine in the slide automatically goes home. Some guns doe it by design (Grand Power XCalibur) and so do it with wear (Glock).

I’ve previously used this gun both cz999 scorpion and EZ9. Cz999 found awsome as compare to ez9. It’s a tank feel like hand gun

It's a Walther P-88 clone, so it should function excellent. I do wish Walther would bring back the P-88 series.

CZ (EZ) 99 / 999 is not clone of SIG, created in 1989, its constructor Bozidar Blagojevic claims that the gun has been made on the model of two pistols Walther P-88 and Sig P226 said he collected the best of both and merged them into a CZ99 and throwing something of their own.....
