009 Quick Tri Flow Obsidian Biface Knife Preform - Direct Percussion Flint Knapping

Another choppy video filmed with a goPro that shuts itself off every 2 minutes. I had fun making this piece so I salvaged the clips I could to share with you.
Technique: Direct percussion with a copper bopper.
Material: Tri Flow obsidian from Glass Buttes

Do you live there and get your own? Such beautiful rock. I’ve got some I’ve ordered. I feel bad turning it into sharp gravel. But I get the occasional bird point out of the flakes and am getting better. I love watching the reducing process, and actually ordered some large rocks yesterday so when I get comfortable I can try spalling myself.

I was just visiting the area and had to pick up some obsidian. Watching TH-cam videos helped me tremendously. A big part of it is just setting up your platforms, hitting at the correct angle and supporting the nodule. Thank you for watching!
