  • In this video, I will give you a step-by-step breakdown on how to rent an apartment in Paris, tips for renting as a foreigner, documents you will need, websites you can use to find apartments, and common scams to watch out for!
    Apartment hunting can be stressful (especially in Paris!) so I put together this video with some helpful information to know if you are planning on renting here.
    * D I S C L A I M E R *
    It is very important to always be vigilant and be on the look out for scams, as there are A LOT OF SCAMMERS when it comes to renting in France, more specifically in Paris. DO NOT send any potential landlord any money, personal information (ID/passport/visa) etc before meeting them in person and physically seeing the property. If a potential "landlord" tells you that they are out of town on vacation and that they have already returned to the city many times to show the property, and due to this you have to give them your name, passport/visa info, and personal information to "make an appointment" - don't send them any information. This is a common rental scam here in Paris.
    If it looks too good to be true, it probably is.
    Happy apartment hunting! x

    Thanks for your video. Question: Do prefer living in Paris or in Nice, and why?

    • @WhereTianaTravels
      @WhereTianaTravels  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's hard to say :') I prefer Nice for the weather, the beach, the slower pace of life, the proximity to Spain/Italy etc - but Paris has more events and things to do, it's more diverse, and all the jobs are here

    Do you have any advice for people looking for a short-term lease? I'm moving to Paris for 6 months but can't seem to find anyone willing to rent to me for less than a year...

    • @WhereTianaTravels
      @WhereTianaTravels  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      honestly i wouldn't even mention that you're planning to stay only 6 months - legally they have to let you out of your lease as long as you give them accurate notice (1 month notice for a furnished apartment, 3 months noticed for an unfurnished apartment)

    When would you reveal your ID to potential landlords? Leboncoin advises you to upload your ID but isn't that sensitive information?

    So I'm currently in College and I wait tables. I really want to take my classes online and rent an apartment for three months overseas and just complete my classes overseas. I ideally would like to find a three month lease and just pay for the classes upfront. Does this sound insnae?

    • @WhereTianaTravels
      @WhereTianaTravels  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not insane at all, it’s definitely doable! In that case though I’d probably search for a long-term Airbnb instead for the 3 months - most apartment landlords here will require you to have a visa/be a resident here to rent from them

  • @montewittig280
    @montewittig280 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      i have the same question

    • @WhereTianaTravels
      @WhereTianaTravels  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you have the money than yes, I would recommend renting an Airbnb for 2-3 weeks just to give yourself enough time to search for an apartment without feeling pressured to choose the first one you find

    what is the average cost of utilities and things?

    • @WhereTianaTravels
      @WhereTianaTravels  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      On average I'd say $150-160 depending on size of your apartment, location, etc. It's also higher in the winter due to having to run the heater often so if you have a bigger place it can easily get pretty expensive
