In Romanian mythology, strigoi (English: striga, poltergeist)[1] are the troubled souls of the dead rising from the grave. Some strigoi can be living people with certain magical properties. Some of the properties of the strigoi include: the ability to transform into an animal, invisibility, and the propensity to drain the vitality of victims via blood loss. Strigoi are also known as immortal vampires. A moroi (sometimes moroii in modern fiction; pl. moroi) is a type of vampire or ghost in Romanian folklore. A female moroi is called a moroaică (pl. moroaice). In some versions, a moroi is a phantom of a dead person which leaves the grave to draw energy from the living.Moroi are often associated with other figures in Romanian folklore, such as strigoi (another type of vampire), vârcolac (werewolf), or pricolici (werewolf). Moroi are also known as mortal vampires, whereas strigoi are immortal vampires.

Strigoi is a mythological Romania creature. It says that strigoi are the evil spirits of the dead, that appear either in animal or ghost like form and have an unending thirst for blood. They are shapeshifters but can also mind control people how are in a weak mind state ( drunk people, people with mental issue and so on). Also there name is a derivation from the Romania word "Striga" which means screaming. They have this name because of the screeching and horrifying sounds that they make late at night. Plus this song also make a reference to Vlad the impaler and how he and his army attacked the ottomans when they tried to invade Wallachia ( which along side Transylvania and Moldovia make the current Romania ) at night disguising as ottoman soldiers and infiltrating in killing 3 generals and almost killing the sultan himself. When the sultan finally reached the capital of Wallachia, all the people there where gone along side the impaled body's of the ottoman soldiers. Vlad the impaler also inspired Dracula, coming from Dracu which is the Romania word for devil but also means in Latin Dragon, which is from the order he was in, Order of the Dragon ( Ordo Draconum), an order made to protect Christianity from the ottoman invasion.
Same is referenced in Castlevania games like Castlevania curse of darkness and Lament of innocence. Vlad the impaler is a reference to Vlad Dracula Tepes.

"If it be so, then was he no common man; for in that time, and for centuries after, he was spoken of as the cleverest and the most cunning, as well as the bravest of the sons of the Land Beyond the Forest." - Abraham Van Helsing, speaking of Count Dracula. Based on legends about Vlad Tzepisce, known as The Impaler, titled Drakulya ("Son of the Dragon"), about whom this song is written.
The song has nothing to do with Vlad Tepes ( the Impaler), vampiers or Van Helsing wich is a fictional character. Vlad was a real prince who inspierd the Dracula novel. Strigoi are part of romanian folklore, some are born strigoi some become one, some are dead some are alive, there are numerous legends about this...

Still, if I do, couldn't keep listening to one of my fave groups so I'll have to enjoy and suffer in equal measure!! Thanks to Jinxx for the translation, I'd Google'd it and came up with "ghost army" but undead certainly sounds more like it!
Revenant is definitely a better translation than ghost. Some Romanian villagers think that corpses actually leave the graves, rather than projecting their spirits somewhere.

For those who don't know what the M in Roman Numerals is, its 1k(One Thousand, whatever you wanna call it). So MMXV is Two Thousand and Fifteen(the year the video came out or the album, I don't really know which), which is a really nice touch to me. We need to start using Roman Numerals more, its an interesting counting system.
"We hail the cross, and we kill by the Bible, for seven Sins are defined to deploy." Best Part of the Song in my opinion. Summing up the Catholic Church in one sentence AND being a badass Song about the Original folklore Romanian Vampires? Awesome. :D
This doesn't sum up the church, it sums up the accursed that twist the Bible and His holy word to justify actions that align them with the dark. These people see no tomorrow, for their insistence on becoming one with the dark has made it so that they shrivel in the light

It seriously makes me feel proud of my nationality. I knew this band was awesome, but god damn it, this just surprised me to the point I don't know how to comment. Amazing song and 'powerfull' lyrics, as usual!
Same thing happened in my class before quarantine, but it was a Turkish kid against my friends and I. Imagine a Greek, a Greekcypriot and a Bulgarian beating the shit out of a Turk for one pencil and a racist comment. Funny enough, we got a two day suspension and granpa was proud because I "avenged my long lost relatives"
Imagine you are a soldier in the turkish army and over the horizon you see an army of vampires coming for you. You would run. BTW, the organ adds so much power to this song.
Bathysphere What are you talking about dude? Vlad killed only innocent people. Not the soldiers 😂 but turkish army killed him his head buried somewhere in Istanbul
He killed people only because they were attacking Romania and Europe, not sure what propaganda you learned from, but better go and learn from real history based on facts
Also about strigoi. They leave their body or grave in the night of 30 november (the night of Sf. Andrew, also known as the Night Of The Wolf or noaptea godinetului șchiop-dacă știți ce e ăla godinet, spuneți-mi și mie). In this night, the old dakh people celebrated the new year, also the wolf was on their flag and also their sacred divinity. In this night also wolfs become more agile, can easelly twist and twitch, their prey having no escape. And about strigoi, hmm, they are twisted souls who can leave the body/grave depending on situaiton, steal weapons from home(scythes, knifes, etc). Turn into an impure animal (owl, wolf, dog, cat, snake, etc.) And meet with other(strigoi) at the crossroads/middle of forests, and fight with each other until the last one stands up, the winner becomes their ruler for one year. Also they can come home, ask and cry to be let in. If they are allowed in, they will haunt the family, twisting their minds, sucking their lifeforce, blood, and bringing bad luck and also death. In this night demons, strigoi, moroi, pricolici and other spirits are stronger and they can be summoned(the ritual made only in the graveyard) and asked to reveal the identity of thiefs, killers or about hidden treasures or places where things were lost, about fate, and secrets of the universe. Strigoi can act like incubus or sucubi in this night. They can lure people out and steal their sanity or blood. Source various sites and videos from the net.

He is actually half Romainan, and half Hungarian. But, he can't speak hungarian, but he has hungarian roots.
November 2019 in Bucharest
I was recommended this by a random kid I met in a video game session. I instantly liked this band, so good!
Very fun and easy to learn on guitar i highly recommend. Also, DEUS VULT REPEL THE OTTOMAN!
Welp i just started electric guitar some weeks ago and i'm struggling with their songs ^^
@@loic5142 search for the rhythm guitar parts of this song. The whole thing is pretty hard to play. It is fun though! Yt didn't give me a notification about your reply sorry man
@@loic5142 the rhythm parts aren't too hard

Powerwolf has AMAZING editors!
I'm from Philippines I love this band
Can't believe Powerwolf are in London in September and I can't make it!!! Feel like ripping my own head off so I don't have to think about it!!!!
Actually meens "ghoul army" or Armata de Strigoi meens "Army of ghouls" in Românian... And makes sense with the lyrics
Powerwolf. A damn good band. I've listened to them since 2011, so i've basically listened to this band half my life. I'll continue to do so til the day i die
Amazing!!!! I cannot remember how many times I pressed the Replay button!!!!!
Respect from little Moldavia
what the hell is moldavia?
SpuderrMon country
Revlo Soul maybe.
Did you want to say Romania
Respect from Wetern Moldova
I saw a girl at my school with a Powerwolf shirt and I thought that's a cool band name, let's give it a try, and I'm in love with their music!
powerwolf is one of my all time favourites
For those who don't know what the M in Roman Numerals is, its 1k(One Thousand, whatever you wanna call it). So MMXV is Two Thousand and Fifteen(the year the video came out or the album, I don't really know which), which is a really nice touch to me. We need to start using Roman Numerals more, its an interesting counting system.
That opening guitar always makes me wanna rock out!!! First and favorite Powerwolf song!!!
Great song and a great band. Thanks TH-cam Recommendations!
Trust me, learning this on guitar isnt too hard and will impress!!! LONG LIVE POWERWOLF!
Freaking love this song!. One of my favourite Powerwolf songs. It just hits you and pulls you right in.
Best metal band of the last 10 years
X
Finally someone who pronounces Strigoi the way we pronounce it!
🇷🇴🇷🇴🇷🇴🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻 Hello from Romania!!! Wallachia !!
Salutari de la patria mama. (Greetings from the Romanian motherland)
"I'll just listen to this once then I'll move onto another song, gotta keep variety up" I thought to myself I'm on my tenth time now.
Greeting from Romania! Salutari din Romania!🥰
When you listen to this on the first of December, Romanians know the feeling!
"We hail the cross, and we kill by the Bible, for seven Sins are defined to deploy."
Best Part of the Song in my opinion.
@@majorgamer8478 All the Church has even done is inventing a devil so they can justify their shit. Ironicly Satan is the Churchs greatest fuckbuddy. x,D
Man, I've been listening to Sabaton for so long. I wonder how the hell I missed this band. This gives me the feels good job!
Ai de capu meu !!! Imi place mult:)
This song is so freaking good, easily one of the best metal songs I've heard theese past 6-7 years at least
Being a romanian from Transylvania and listening to this song makes me being proud
Romanian folklore > English Folklore . Change my mind.
This is like the 100th time I've listened to this song, freaking amazing. How the hell did I just find out about these guys.
I've listened 500 this song 🎵

I heard this song for the first time yesterday and it had blown my mind, the music is off the chains and I can’t get it out of my head.
At first I thought: "What? Is that romanian? Impossible."
*clicks the link in skepticism*
And now I just want to thank POWERWOLF for this amazing song. It seriously makes me feel proud of my nationality. I knew this band was awesome, but god damn it, this just surprised me to the point I don't know how to comment.
Amazing song and 'powerfull' lyrics, as usual!
When the muslim kid steal a pencil from the romanian kid.
ISTG
Same thing happened in my class before quarantine, but it was a Turkish kid against my friends and I. Imagine a Greek, a Greekcypriot and a Bulgarian beating the shit out of a Turk for one pencil and a racist comment. Funny enough, we got a two day suspension and granpa was proud because I "avenged my long lost relatives"
@@El_Cypriot sounds like a bunch of kids ganging against one, weak
@@El_Cypriot that sounds less like a holy duel and more of bullying a helpless kid
@@zazugee weak? He was 6ft 2, bulky guy, he bullied most of our classmates, he even hit a teacher, no suspension for him even for that!
If only the US population could appreciate good music I may get to see them live one day.

Very cool! I like it!
So, erstmal direkt die CD vorbestellt! Freu' mich schon richtig drauf, klingt echt super ;)

This song should be on the soundtrack of The Strain TV Series.
It would be so amazing to see Master Bollivar humming this amazing song during a battle. :)
