      Definitely a more cohesive look in the Sportage much preferred. The Tucson is over styled and the front and back look like they were designed by two different teams

    While I really like both SUV's, and KIA has the extra Warranty, it's also about previous dealer experience. As a two time (one dealer) Hyundai owner, while the KIA seems marginally better, I've had an excellent relationship with my dealer. On that basis I would probably buy a Tuscon. However, the next shopper will be a Picanto. [weird I know, but Hyundai doesn't market the i10 in Oz]

    Kia makes great cars but the dealership experience is utter garage. The memory of purchasing a new stinger and the dealer couldn't even be bothered putting my new car in the showrooms on delivery day and it was delivered to me on the side street instead has ruined the Kia brand for me forever. Not to mention the endless frustration with any warranty claims like I had to go to the service department like 6 times just to fix up headlight issues really makes the extended warranty seem pointless.
    Great review as always :)

    Kia has longer warranty but higher servicing costs, so basically you pay for the extended warranty, it is not free. Apparently the Tucson Highlander has a better stereo than the Sportage GT. The bass on the Sportage is a bit thin. Personally I prefer the looks of the Tucson. Both are excellent cars and mostly identical except for superficial things. Also check out the towing. With the Tucson you can upgrade the ball weight to 140kg from 100kg. I am not sure you can do that with the Kia (check if important to you).

    • @MrrrrMime
      @MrrrrMime 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is the T Diesel engine the same in both of the top specs?

    • @rwalsh895
      @rwalsh895 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The upgrade is to 160kg towball down weight and 1900kg braked towing. Which is enough to justify the Tucson for my situation. Tried both. Both great packages, this extra towing was a deciding factor for me.

  • @Richard-ck5zk
    @Richard-ck5zk 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I found the engine in the S fine, nothing special of course, but for a regular mum or my fiancee, it's absolutely fine. Paying an extra $5k for the diesel just wasn't worth it... And unless I wanted to order one from scratch and wait 6months+, the only diesels Kia dealers are bringing in are the SX or Gtline, which makes it about $8k than the base S.

  • @austen_7847
    @austen_7847 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The infotainment system needs work.
    Due to the location of the USB plug, and also the 'just right' size of the charging pad it just doesn't work!
    If you have a regular USB cable plugged into the car it's in the way to put your phone on the charging pad.
    But that's OK, if you have a USB cable plugged into your phone it won't fit on the charging pad anyhow.
    But it's got wireless, why would you need to actually use a cable you ask.....
    Well to use Android Auto or Apple CarPlay would be the answer.
    You can't use 'voice dialing' natively, only through AA or ACP!
    So, plug in the USB cable, drag it over the piano black centre console to your phone in the cup-holder!
    It's got that beautiful 24 inches of display screens that many of the icons and controls you just can't reach while driving unless you stretch forward way more than you should have to while you are driving.
    Kia, it's all software, configuring the controls and icons "the other way around" for R.H.D models really can't be that hard!

That's coming from a current owner of Hyundai + Kia and a huge fan of these brands. The 2L engine is amazing in the Seltos because it's lighter but it's not enough for the larger Tucson/Sportage. 🍻
