In the last few years microsoft has been scrubing herobrine from official minecraft media even removing some of his skins from skin packs and stuff Why? Well one day they found out that mojang did not create herobrine and even if it is unlikely someone could sue them claiming to have created the character So most likely if he does appear it will just be a background easter egg or maybe a name drop in a sign or something like that
@@valletas Yeah I’d imagine Herobrine is a legal grey area since he’s basically fanmade. It’s true that the original creator is unlikely to press legal action since Herobrine is himself a derivative character (there’s literally two pixels of difference between him and Steve after all) but at the same time it probably isn’t right to keep using him without the original creator’s permission. While Herobrine being used officially would be cool, it would probably set a weird precedent for fan content.
I was hoping for more of a homage to the game, and the nostalgia it brings so many people. Maybe it will have that, but the trailer made it seem like another surface-level generic action-adventure movie. A bit disappointed it didn't even contain any C418 music. Could have at least started with a few notes of "Sweden."

Honestly they should have either adapted Minecraft story mode or just made it fully animated, there are Minecraft animations from 10+ years ago that look better and will probably have batter story than this.

Minecraft is as blocky and cartoony as it gets, how the heck are you planning on making real humans in it? Or real life looking like mobs and stuff. How? Again - why? You want to have Jack Black as Steve? Fine. Make him a voice actor for Steve, but make Steve a 3D model. And where the heck is Alex? Who the hell are all THESE people?!

When I was in high school Minecraft was just a super popular game and literally no one got made fun of for playing it, it was completely a non issue tbh. In fact, I honestly can't remember people getting made fun of or put down for their interests all that much at my school just in general; like there was some light teasing from friends and stuff, but never anything actually mean or malicious and it was always in good fun. Maybe I just went to a really laid back school and was lucky enough to not have to deal with any kind of bullying, or maybe the school you go to is just really brutal for some reason, but yeah literally none of what you said was relatable to me. In fact I remember back in high school my friend used to bring his laptop to school and all my friends and I would gather around and play Minecraft together, and on other days we'd all bring our 3DS to school and play Pokemon or Mario Kart together, and none of us ever got bullied or made fun of for that.

People were all too cool for it or saw it as a kids game. I didn’t think it was brutal back in the day, just saw it as normal. There's actually a few hidden deep cut references in the teaser! Apparently the mob in the center of the Bastion shot is The Seer from Minecraft Legends, and you can see the Boots of Swiftness from Minecraft Dungeons on a shelf while Jason Momoa is using the Crafting Table.
Yup, agreed! Lots of references to Minecraft Dungeons and Legends. Emerald armor on that shelf too, behind crafting table scene, from Minecraft Dungeons. The Blue Portal in the beginning is similar to the blue Portal from the Legends opening cut scene - used for pulling the player from their Minecraft world to the Legends world. Plus, piglins out in the Overworld just like Legends.
You mentioned that the Mario movie did a good job at appealing to both fans of Mario and people that vaguely know it. However, the Borderlands movie that recently came out managed to do a bad job at appealing to both crowds, and I am sort of worried that will be the case with this movie, even if it is fun for someone that is a fan of Minecraft to watch.

And when he was talking about that he said "There is a reason why it's called "A" Minecraft movie and not Minecraft the movie or something. My unasked for opinion/movie trailer commentary (maybe someone will agree? LOL): -The art style is unique but honestly COULD’VE worked if the characters were not live action. I don’t mind it just itself, but the contrast between the cartoon art and the real life people is a bit odd -The characters have okay casting but their outfits and styling leave something to be desired -I hope they include subtle references to the game like the Mario Movie did -My theory for why there’s real people in a cartoon world and why their wardrobe is interesting: they’re real people from the 70s-80s trapped in a videogame. Basically what the Jumanji movie did but with a spin because the graphics are cartoon and not realistic. In this case, disregard previous critiques.
Not only do agree but I agree x5 or so I think. I think live actors is an appalling choice they're obviously just doing to shoe horn some virtue signalling about how "hip" Microsoft is with the LGBTQ+ community (plot twist: they don't actually care, it's a political/marketing gimmick) I think the choice of particular actors, specifically Jack black, are also atrocious. There is some witch like character that looks like an end mob cuz it has purple eyes. And its most likely that they are controling the piglins. That would explain why they somehow survive in the overworld without turning into zombies

Don't waste your time hoping, honestly. If there's one thing I've learned about these mainstream pop culture titles is they are _never_ worth your time or money. It WILL suck, I would bet on it.
I'm somewhat interested in how this movie will turn out. If nothing else Jack Black and Jason Momoa are all-in when it comes to Minecraft related things, see Jack Black's kick-axe line from the 15th annivesary video. What interests me the most though is how piglins are able to go through the Nether portal into the normal Minecraft world without becoming zombified similar to Legends. A Game Theorist episode suggested a plague is the cause of zombification, which can be cured, so this movie and that game must happen before it spreads.

What if the piglins heard of rumors about the overworld having more rich resources so they are conquering the overworld for more stuff (like gold) of course because they’re considered greedy, like mining up all of the Netherite, that's why they are the main villains, although the illagers could’ve worked as a villain to.
One thing that I haven't seen anybody else talking about is WHY AREN'T THE PIGLINS ZOMBIFYING IN THE OVERWORLD. If you are going to make a movie, AT LEAST PLAY THE GAME FIRST.
Based on knowledge of other “unrelated franchise gets turned into a movie” instances, there are only two possible outcomes for this movie: 1. Despite looking hideous in the trailers, the real thing is somehow amazing and becomes an instant classic (Think: LEGO movie) 2. It will be even worse than expected and clips will circulate as memes for years to come as the internet roundly mocks it (Think: Emoji movie)

NIce videoToycat! I would like to see some older references like a scary sound when they find a cave or maybe a silverfish. Maybe something about java edition and bedrock. Maybe they come to a giant area but then Steve is like "Neh this is java edition".
It directed by the same person who did Nacho Libre and Napoleon Dynamite. It looks like it's gonna be good, and they paid attention to a lot of small details from the game. If you look close you can see all the hard work they put into it. The animals are so cute too!

I've seen Jack black in like 5 different movies by now and he always plays the exact same tedious character that he was playing 20yrs ago in shallow Hal. In 2009 Minecraft was still in its early iterations. It was a game millennial adults played. It was unusually psychedelic like a lot of stuff from the late 00s. I thought it was bizarre when kids started playing this strange “trippy” game. The aesthetics of the environments and the use of magical mystery tour all seem appropriate. The characters, plot and humour all look pretty standard for modern kids movies, which isn’t great.
yes yes hello ibx toy cat my good mate have you heard of the legacy 4j mod it is a mod for minecraft java edition that transforms the modern java minecraft into legacy console, complete with old uis, gamma slider and i think skins are also being worked on. on top of this there is a mod pack called reconsole which contains old tutorial worlds, aswell as a texture pack that remasters all blocks from after the aquatic update to fit the programmer art style. i think it would be worth you checking out, as the legacy community is expanding, with people even working on servers (which are accessible on the mod with exceptions for some anti cheats) that bring back the old 4j mini games. i think this would be something you're interested in.
I would like to see the Wither as the big antagonist. Maybe the plot twist could be that the piglins are trying to stop the humans from building the wither. A Warden somewhere in the movie would be cool
For the cube at 1:30 , it could totally be a nether core (the color looks like the teaxture for it). A feature from pocket edition before the nether was added, but I honestly doubt they'd make something from pocket edition so relevant especially when they already have nether portals in the movie.
It's just a weird guess, but I think the reason why they didn't do illagers would be something to do with having "humans" of a different skin color as villains. Probably not the reason, but I wouldn't blame them for not wanting to get into that mess. As for me, movie just look like dumb fun, so if I can get a friend along, I'll likely see it.
The difference between this and mario is that with mario odyssey, they significantly opened up the universe. Also the mario art style has evolved so much that the slight change they made for the movie still works. But, uh, Minecraft is pixelated... they completely changed the look and feel of minecraft. Im still gonna see it in theaters, but not because i think it will be good.
You are very optimistic while everyone else feels like this is the Sonic movie before the redesign. Also, I have noticed a lot of people on many different video comment sections mention the movie looks 85-90% CGI for a Live action film.
This should just be released as a TH-cam free 2 watch web series with the film split up into 5 minute clips. Each clip would be its own thing and would be about stuff players do in minecraft with gameplay footage at the top corner. And they can just relable it as Minecraft with Jack Black. Thats the only way this could be salvaged.
I don't hate it immediately. For a teaser, that's a good start. Especially as hollywood's attempts at game movies go. I understand that their intended audience is NOT current minecraft fans. They ALREADY bought the game and microsoft will not get another penny out of them. Also, fans are notoriously hating on any microdeviation from their expectation of the lore. The real intended audience are those who haven't bought minecraft yet and their parents.
Ok... It looks off... But there is still a chance it could be good... Here is my prediction of the story: A family finds a weird portal, so they go through, because that's obviously what you do when you find a weird portal, and end up trapped in Minecraft, where they meet Steve, a guy who has been trapped in this world for a long time. (He's clearly not from there since he doesn't look mildly terrifying.) That orb thing is probably important for defeating the piglins, and based on a tweet Jack Black posted about the movie being set before the creation of Minecraft, so kinda an origin story for Minecraft, I'd guess that after they escape they make a game based on the place they where trapped in, aka Minecraft. There is still the animated Minecraft series coming to Netflix, so there's still hope for Minecraft in the movie industry.
I think the Piglins are the villains because other than the Creeper they’re the only mobs that don’t have human element. If they did the Illagers they would probably have to do a cgi human hybrid of a person
Reason is also cause they are similar to orcs, many orcs in older artwork used to look pig like, hence why Pigmen are perfect chaotic evil monster for our heroes to fight.
I think it looks great. Looks like it could be funny and interesting. I hope they go to the end and see the dragon. I think Jason Mamoas look is just poking fun at all the weird skins players use. I’m looking forward to this, don’t really care how anyone else feels.

The same thing applies to Minecraft. Being passionate and sincere is seen as cringey, while being nonchalant is seen as cool. I'm not saying it's right, but that's a common mentality. It's possible that this person was bullied for wearing Minecraft merch or something along those lines. Anything that would clearly separate them from the casual fans.

People were all too cool for it or saw it as a kids game. I didn’t think it was brutal back in the day, just saw it as normal. There's actually a few hidden deep cut references in the teaser! Apparently the mob in the center of the Bastion shot is The Seer from Minecraft Legends, and you can see the Boots of Swiftness from Minecraft Dungeons on a shelf while Jason Momoa is using the Crafting Table.

You mentioned that the Mario movie did a good job at appealing to both fans of Mario and people that vaguely know it. However, the Borderlands movie that recently came out managed to do a bad job at appealing to both crowds, and I am sort of worried that will be the case with this movie, even if it is fun for someone that is a fan of Minecraft to watch.
For the people saying we got this over Minecraft story mode, it's still possible because in DanTDM's video he said he went on set. And when he was talking about that he said "There is a reason why it's called "A" Minecraft movie and not Minecraft the movie or something. Meaning that there could be spin offs and that could make since because in Minecraft there are no main worlds. So it could be explained by saying its not the same world and get spin offs and other movies.

My unasked for opinion/movie trailer commentary (maybe someone will agree? LOL):
-The art style is unique but honestly COULD’VE worked if the characters were not live action. I don’t mind it just itself, but the contrast between the cartoon art and the real life people is a bit odd
-The characters have okay casting but their outfits and styling leave something to be desired
-I hope they include subtle references to the game like the Mario Movie did
-My theory for why there’s real people in a cartoon world and why their wardrobe is interesting: they’re real people from the 70s-80s trapped in a videogame. Basically what the Jumanji movie did but with a spin because the graphics are cartoon and not realistic. In this case, disregard previous critiques.

There is some witch like character that looks like an end mob cuz it has purple eyes. And its most likely that they are controling the piglins. That would explain why they somehow survive in the overworld without turning into zombies

I'm somewhat interested in how this movie will turn out. If nothing else Jack Black and Jason Momoa are all-in when it comes to Minecraft related things, see Jack Black's kick-axe line from the 15th annivesary video. What interests me the most though is how piglins are able to go through the Nether portal into the normal Minecraft world without becoming zombified similar to Legends. A Game Theorist episode suggested a plague is the cause of zombification, which can be cured, so this movie and that game must happen before it spreads.

What if the piglins heard of rumors about the overworld having more rich resources so they are conquering the overworld for more stuff (like gold) of course because they’re considered greedy, like mining up all of the Netherite, that's why they are the main villains, although the illagers could’ve worked as a villain to.
One thing that I haven't seen anybody else talking about is WHY AREN'T THE PIGLINS ZOMBIFYING IN THE OVERWORLD. If you are going to make a movie, AT LEAST PLAY THE GAME FIRST.

Based on knowledge of other “unrelated franchise gets turned into a movie” instances, there are only two possible outcomes for this movie:
1. Despite looking hideous in the trailers, the real thing is somehow amazing and becomes an instant classic (Think: LEGO movie)

The reason the animals look like that is because that’s literally what they are in Minecraft. They are derpy and awkward and just kinda sit there. Yeah, it’s a bit more exaggerated, but it works to represent their character.

It directed by the same person who did Nacho Libre and Napoleon Dynamite. It looks like it's gonna be good, and they paid attention to a lot of small details from the game. If you look close you can see all the hard work they put into it. The animals are so cute too!

In 2009 Minecraft was still in its early iterations. It was a game millennial adults played. It was unusually psychedelic like a lot of stuff from the late 00s. I thought it was bizarre when kids started playing this strange “trippy” game. The aesthetics of the environments and the use of magical mystery tour all seem appropriate. The characters, plot and humour all look pretty standard for modern kids movies, which isn’t great.
I think it would be cool if the villagers were voiced by Dan Lloyd, it would be pretty hard to take seriously, but I think it would be funny :)
yes yes hello ibx toy cat my good mate have you heard of the legacy 4j mod it is a mod for minecraft java edition that transforms the modern java minecraft into legacy console, complete with old uis, gamma slider and i think skins are also being worked on. on top of this there is a mod pack called reconsole which contains old tutorial worlds, aswell as a texture pack that remasters all blocks from after the aquatic update to fit the programmer art style. i think it would be worth you checking out, as the legacy community is expanding, with people even working on servers (which are accessible on the mod with exceptions for some anti cheats) that bring back the old 4j mini games. i think this would be something you're interested in.

I would like to see the Wither as the big antagonist. Maybe the plot twist could be that the piglins are trying to stop the humans from building the wither. A Warden somewhere in the movie would be cool
For the cube at 1:30 , it could totally be a nether core (the color looks like the teaxture for it). A feature from pocket edition before the nether was added, but I honestly doubt they'd make something from pocket edition so relevant especially when they already have nether portals in the movie.

It's just a weird guess, but I think the reason why they didn't do illagers would be something to do with having "humans" of a different skin color as villains. Probably not the reason, but I wouldn't blame them for not wanting to get into that mess.
As for me, movie just look like dumb fun, so if I can get a friend along, I'll likely see it.
The difference between this and mario is that with mario odyssey, they significantly opened up the universe. Also the mario art style has evolved so much that the slight change they made for the movie still works. But, uh, Minecraft is pixelated... they completely changed the look and feel of minecraft. Im still gonna see it in theaters, but not because i think it will be good.

I understand that their intended audience is NOT current minecraft fans. They ALREADY bought the game and microsoft will not get another penny out of them. Also, fans are notoriously hating on any microdeviation from their expectation of the lore.
The real intended audience are those who haven't bought minecraft yet and their parents.

Ok... It looks off... But there is still a chance it could be good...
Here is my prediction of the story:
A family finds a weird portal, so they go through, because that's obviously what you do when you find a weird portal, and end up trapped in Minecraft, where they meet Steve, a guy who has been trapped in this world for a long time. (He's clearly not from there since he doesn't look mildly terrifying.) That orb thing is probably important for defeating the piglins, and based on a tweet Jack Black posted about the movie being set before the creation of Minecraft, so kinda an origin story for Minecraft, I'd guess that after they escape they make a game based on the place they where trapped in, aka Minecraft.
There is still the animated Minecraft series coming to Netflix, so there's still hope for Minecraft in the movie industry.
The main problem with the animation for me is that its almost entirely animated and does not blend smoothly with the real actors
I think the Piglins are the villains because other than the Creeper they’re the only mobs that don’t have human element. If they did the Illagers they would probably have to do a cgi human hybrid of a person
Reason is also cause they are similar to orcs, many orcs in older artwork used to look pig like, hence why Pigmen are perfect chaotic evil monster for our heroes to fight.
