Eagle eye LEDs used for Ford B Max Puddle lights

  • Needed to install some Puddle lights, because Ford still aren't fitting them as default on all cars.
Bought some cheap Eagle eye LEDs from China off eBay, where you can buy four for less than £4 delivered from China. Installed two in the wing mirrors, and put two underneath the back end. Two of them are 15w Eagle eyes, and the other two are 9w Eagle eyes. The 15w are insanely bright for such a small light, but sadly the lens does not allow the light to shine out over a 180 degree area.
At the back, the 15w is on the left, with the 9w being nearest to the fence.
The wing mirror ones were installed in June 2019, and still going strong in April 2020.
Still photos always record a brighter image of illumination in the dark than videos do.
Need to get my laptop mic working. Music is Boardroom Theme, downloaded from TH-cam library

How long have you has these installed? We have replaced a lot of lights very similar our customer purchased on sites such as ebay/Amazon. They seem to fail very quick. We think it is because of how many diode chips they have packed into the small area. Heat and overpowering leds is their cryptonight. That's why high qualityled emergency warning lights are so costly, alot of engineering time goes into refining power distribution for maximum/optimal output and heat dissipation.

Sorry for the delay. Need to sort my notifications.
These are Eagle eye LED, rather than marker lights. Can't source white TecNiq marker lights in the UK like you have installed.
I first installed some of these on my Fiesta in November 2017. Unfortunately, the Mk6 Fiesta does not have room in the mirror housing to mount LEDs. Took those Eagle eyes out and changed cars in September 2018, so 10 months without issue.
Fitted mirror LEDs in June 2019 and they're still running fine in June 2020.
In July 2019 I fitted the one underneath the back end that had been underneath the back end of the Fiesta for 10 months. Obviously this is a dirty wet location with road spray being thrown up and the LED facing directly down. In March 2020 the rear one started to play up, and this is because I had originally opened the unit and fitted a longer cable so that there were no joints outside the car - and clearly failed to seal the cable in the housing.
One originally fitted inside the Fiesta for 10 months has now been in the B-Max wing mirror for a year and worked faultlessly. So that's 22 months without issue.
I just wish that they produced a 180 degree light to illuminate the area better, rather than this spotlight straight down.
I don't buy off Amazon because Amazon is all about the postage, I prefer eBay.
The last 4 that I bought were £2.94 for four 12v 15W Eagle eyes. One of those is on the mirror closest to the camera at the start, and one underneath the back.

Should be noted that these are only on for as long as it takes to unlock, get in to the car and start the car up
