Yes, cover crop is overgrown but what a ton of organic matter you're turning under, I've got a Dearborn 2-14" bottom plow and do wildlife food plots, mowed our mature winter rye, wheat, brassicas before plowing for late corn, soybeans, milo and sunflowers love old school dirt work
Hey mtn farmer, I ended up getting a Dearborn 10-156 14” plow, appreciate the videos, please keep them coming, waiting on your videos is like being a kid waiting on Xmas morning, which video do you explain the roll over mechanism with the jam nuts?
What do you recommend for tractors? I am looking at a massey ferguson 2605 but I dont know. There is also a John deere 750 on craigslist. And a ford 1710 also listed. Im renting a half acre of pasture with potential to rent 10 acre. My walk behind troy bilt isnt going to cut it. I need a plow to break through that pasture.
If you take and put number nine wires about 4 ft long on your Kohler that will pull that trash under the dirt and it shouldn't plug as much but you need to hook them to the Coulter
I have a set of the same plows they are ford 101 they do a great job but i take the coulters off with out them on they dont plug up like they do with them on the 101 is not a high clearance plow I have a set of ford 142 and those have a lot more clearance for trash to flow through better the 101 and 142 was made by pittsburgh and they do a excellent job if set right
Have you ever run a 2 disc turning plow? They don't do as nice a job as a mold board but they are perfect for something like this. I can't find anyone who can demonstrate how to set those up properly.
My two bottom 14" moldboard plow takes out about 27" of ground per pass if the ground is right. My two bottom 30" disk plow only takes out about 19" of ground per pass and does a good job even in dry ground however, it will keep you in the field longer due to the shorter cut.
I have found when dealing with cover crops it is best to Bush Hog it and spray it and let it die back before bottom plowing it. it just works better for me that way. what works for me may not work for you. Thought I would pass it along.

Just find what you like and get at least one size bigger than you think you will need
do you have to use 4 wheel drive with your plow
