Farfar and Farmor are swedish terms for grandparents - farfar is fathers father and farmor is fathers mother
No it’s Danish ( Denmark)
It's indeed Swedish... Bedstemor and bedstefar is Danish as far as I know.... I'm Swedish.....
It’s a great way to declutter the shop and to help out Goodwill. A win win!!
And a tax write off 😊
Put the Japan. lantern in your garden mext to the fish pond. It will be gorgouse.
I found my first Fontanini creche today :) Have a lovely day everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think this is a great video! You are making progress on cleaning out the shop and being selective and thoughtful about your GW purchases. I just get a good giggle when for a while comments have been complaints that you need to clean up the shop. You clean up the shop and comments are asking you to keep the stuff! I am easily entertained I guess! Merry Christmas to you and yours!
😂 I’ve been on YT long enough to learn that you can’t please everyone.
@@CrazyLampLadyso you shouldn't even try. Wasted energy.
I bought a cute kitty from a seller that had a repair. She of course disclosed it, but put a sweet bow around the neck. I love it a lot.
In Michigan, GWI has a centralized warehouse where they bring in a lot of the excess from the region and then redistribute the goods to other stores. Maybe that's what happened to all the piggies.
My Goodwill in Durango Colorado sends the good stuff to Colorado Springs
Jocelyn I believe that reverse painting is of the old bridge on the Susquehanna River in Harrisburg.
I bought your last clear Scottie dog. It is a paper clip holder in my craft room. Never thought of it as a creamer.
I’d put my sugar packets/Splenda in it!
The Scottie dog is an antique that came filled with candy in the 30's.
@@marybartlett6290 Thank you! I wondered if it was. I have one that is a little boat.
Goodwill generally takes all donations to a Central warehouse. Then redistributes them. so that they do not go to the same place, some people are very embarrassed when somebody says oh, that's my sweater.
FarFar and FarMor are paternal grandparents in both Swedish and Norwegian. My husband’s family is Norwegian and my kids know those terms for his parents.
Danish too.
I was just going to write that, my husband family is swedish.
My nana used Scottie dog on her stove to put matches in for lighting her gas stove . Always liked that dog.
Hey Jocelyn. At 9:46, you found a gem! It's EAPG, FERN pattern, covered butter dish, by Atterbury & Company, Introduced in 1876. Pretty uncommon piece. Very nice find!!
This was another great video. The Scottie dog is an old candy container.
I truly could listen to your voice all day I'm glad I found your channel I hit 8 goodwill locations in a day salamanca antique mall is a must see sales on holidays
I saw on the news a lady bought a maurano vase for 2.99 and sold for $107.000 from goodwill
Yes that news has been everywhere. All over fb news and even local n national. She did good. Very lucky purchase. Bet the ones who passed that up are kicking themselves.
Unfortunately, we live in a time where stuff is made all the time nothing really seems special anymore and then we have our parent's stuff and grandparents stuff , I just look around my home and we love our stuff, I have to quit buying vintage Christmas, I have had to come to a point of being able to stop and enjoy what I've collected 😊❤
I don't think the lid is missing. It's turned upside down into the top of the urn.
That’s what I thought also.
Nothing is a failure just a way of learning and being proactive to not waste your valuable time so always learning is a great thing still learning that at 69 as donating things back to goodwill all so as your time value changes as we age since my husband passed Feb 2020 I look at my time differently each year! Look projects can do and cannot and could someone else get value from things I nolonger accomplish now and not a priority! So way to go girl ! You are on the right track One benifit as we age or as I say mature Young Lady that you are !
You should look for Step up thrift stores! I've found them in our area and almost all proceeds/profits go to the people who need them. It's a great organization!
The urn lid seems to be on “inside out”. Try separating around the rim. Great find!
I thought the same thing, like the lid is on it but upside down.
I will check this. 😂
Curious to see if we were right? CLL, please, please let us know! 🙏🏻😂
Wow, you found the Locked-neck Swanster!
I loved the painting you bought from Paul!
The Sevres piece is fantastic! Such a great score!
Thank-you! It was quite exciting.
Are you sure it's Sevres? I think so but I'm not sure. They used to sell for ridiculous money. I have two but no clock.
I donate stuff back to the Goodwill with the tags still on it. We took a hatchback full of items today. It feels good to get it out of our garage. (Just had floors done)
The Schmid music box was a Beatrix Potter character.
A lot of "you shoulds" and "why don't yous" today. Leave the woman to her own devices. She knows what she's doing.
So true🙂
Somehow, unsolicited advice is one of the sadder functions of the Internet.
Love your videos so much! The small clear glass Scotty dog is a vintage candy container!
The bowl with the bakelite handles looks like Glo-Hill, made in Canada
I'm the same way I will go through lots of unwanted iteams around my apartment and start packing them for the store .I got at least 4 bags done .I donated them to the Thrift Store.
The scottie dog is a candy container.
I am shocked, you found some nice things, whie the shelfs were really bare.
Merry Christmas Jocelyn and family.
The railroad bridge reverse painted art looks like the rockville bridge. Just above harrisburg.
Nice to bring items in , not just taking them out ! I have that little glass scottie , he holds up my bottle brush ? Does a good job. Merry Christmas to you Jocelyn and your whole family! Hope Santa 🎅 is good to you all . Get some rest, you are a very busy woman ! Xox
I am not a reseller but it's a constant flow of things in and out 😂
Scottie dog is a candy container - filled with candy with a piece of paper over the top.
Jo your videos are so therapeutic love how you educate us through your knowledge of things..I really have to remember to like your videos..I love your eye whimsical and good art❤️ oh BTW I’m rescuing stuff from thrift too and your videos influence my choices😂❤️the husband is complaining there’s too much stuff😂😂😂
Thank you for forgiving hat cat's broken neck! I'm a sucker for nice cat figurines
The pigs went to market or they went weeee all the way home, lol.
😅😅😅😅😅😅
Seriously who doesn’t like this. Probably a dad joke hater, lol. Merry Christmas everyone!
I was waiting for them to bring your donated items on a cart! 😂
😂
Jocelyn, I thought of you yesterday. I was shopping at Goodwill, and I saw this beautiful ceramic bowl. The lid was not on it but next to it. So I grab it very large, and as I am trying to pick up the lid, this woman grabs it. I actually asked her if I could have it pointing to the bowl. She said, "Oh, you can have the bowl. I only collect lids, " Everyone looked at her, and she wished us all merry Christmas and walked away....lol
If I lived closer, I’d buy that set of landscapes! A set of 6!!!!!
I have donated to our GW before and the stuff ends up at a different thrift store not even affiliated with GW.
Also I noticed my donation can be spread to multiple GWs in several of the smaller towns near us.
You should find a family centre or church near you that would take the things to donate for free for families in need
Somehow, unsolicited advice is one of the sadder functions of the Internet.
If you didn't see the pigs that you donated sometimes good wills don't even go through their boxes and they just throw them out in the trash. I've watched several videos with dumpster divers who go to goodwill Dumpsters, and they find a lot of things still in boxes that have never been unwrapped
Merry Christmas to you and your family! Sandy C.
We had that scottie dish when I was a kid. We used it as a toothpick holder.
The mouse is a Beatrix Potter mouse. He’s the Tailor of Gloucester. Pretty sure Disney hasn’t messed with Beatrix Potter characters yet.
I think beswick in England did those music boxes first. The Beswick ones can be worth money, maybe Schmid took over the license
Thank-you! I did discover this when I researched it for the comps. When I referred to Disney, I meant that Schmid makes Disney music boxes that sell well-in addition to Beatrix Potter and others.
The artwork pile. Some black and white framed prints hanging out looked interesting and wirth money?? Are you looking at auctions anymore? Havent seen you with an auction purchase recently. Thanks for showing all your collections at the shop. Good work by your mom to help you organize.
They haven't done auctions since they lost all their listers.
They were doing auctions more during Covid because it was difficult or impossible to source at thrift stores and antique malls. Now that that has passed they don’t need the auctions like before.
I think the urn is part of a mantel clock set with two urns. They may have had bobeches or other crystal ornamentation. Last made is the late 1800s, I want to say, but I may be wrong.
Your shop is looking so good with your clean out. We are doing this in January. Have a good day.
I do the same thing. I make donations to Goodwill and then go in and shop for more! And, the cat with the gemstone eyes is from the mid-to-late 1960s. I have one like it, but mine had openings on both sides to put in lipstick tubes.
I have been told Goodwill sends donations to other Goodwills. We only have a small store. A trailer brings and takes items. donations
You should open the backs to see if there is any info on the back of the prints
The clear glass Scottie dog is a candy dish. It sold filled with candy.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!! Love you and your family!
Looks like the lid is upside down and pushed into the vase. Must be stuck pretty tightly. But worth a try to check. Don't think the urn would be as shallow as that
Wow, I can't believe you found a porcelaine de Sèvres urne!
Very popular under Napoleon Bonaparte.
I would have it estimated first.
I could be worth more than you think.
Love that lamp
The jewelry box was so quaint. My mom has hers from 60 years ago.
Your shop is looking good, I am just waiting for you to tell us some secret or something. Lol.... why things are getting cleaned up and organized. You can see a lot of empty floor now. That is a small goodwill, the shelves looed so bare. Thanks for the video I can't wait til the next one.
Well she has 2 boothes and is selling on 3 different platforms so things move out the shop quickly.
The scottie dog is a candy. it was sold with tiny round candies in the "day"
Ahhh the way you set stuff in that car is giving me anxiety!!! That thin vase vs cast iron lantern freaking me out😂😂
I donate back all the time! It’s a win win!
Farfar & Farmor are Norwegian for Paternal Grandfather & Grandmother. Love your video's! Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!
Looks like Andrew has built another banana box fort!😅
Cleaning up the shop. Must feel great.
The art work that you are donating with the cabins Are art work I would have loved to have Purchased
the mugs are Swedish farfar is grandfather and farmor is grandmother. My husband had visited Sweden 8 years ago. :D
Merry Christmas to you all
farfar is swedish for grandfather, so those were grandma and grandpa mugs
5he urn is beautiful. What great finds, Please Stay Safe Happy and Healthy Have A Wonderful Day
In the Swedish language the Paternal grandparents are “farmor” for grandmother, and “farfar,” for grandfather.
People who are not resellers won't understand 😅😅😅but stuff has to keep moving. It's taking up space and not worth listing...donate ❤
Hi Jocelyn❤ Thank you
I always learn something new from you and your followers! Thank you and happy holidays to you and yours!
Wow! Can’t wait to see the latest treasure hunt.
I WOULD DONATE IT TO A LOCAL CHURCH RUMMAGE SALE OR SHELTER FOR FUNDRAISER
I been to hundreds of goodwill locations renovo pa. has some of best items I ever seen st Mary's pa has biggest jewelry selection
I live in Canada. We have Value Village not goodwills. I drop deads off bf going shopping, bc they will give you a coupon for 20% off your next purchase. Win, win! 😊
You found some beautiful things 💖
I have a question about a Murano vase I bought. It has a tiny chip on the edge of the base. I'd like to send you pictures of it. From everything I found it says it's a real murano vase. I also found a clean glass dog, very smooth on the bottom and I can't figure it out, unfortunately my 2 year old niece grabbed it off the table before I could stop her, lucky it was still wrapped so it also has a tiny chip. I love your channel, Thank you, I've learned a lot from you. That's why I knew the min I spotted the vase, I was quick to grab it. I hope you have a very Merry Christmas and a happy safe New Year's 🎉🎉
See the description of this video (or any of her videos) to see how you might get an answer to this question.
I have donated a ton of stuff to my nearest local goodwill and I too have never seen the stuff. I asked about that and was told they distribute the items to all the local goodwill stores. Mystery solved…😊
In the last 3 years, I have donated SO much stuff....clothes, shoes, knick knacks, dishes, frames, name it. I have one big yard sale a year and start there. Then I leave boxes of stuff at the end of my driveway and my neighbors will take most of it. What's left....donate! Ebay seller and will soon be researching other options....but NONE that put my face out there. That's non-negotiable.
Best way to purge.....look, make a decision, move on...don't look back and don't second guess. Don't do it at a snail's pace....decide....here we go! I haven't missed ANYTHING I've ever donated.
I donate things to my Salvation Army constantly. Just took a bunch last week. Walk through your house and start gathering. Feels so good to get it out of your house.
@@JanetRudisill-kn3km Decided years ago I was done with stuff! You have to realize you will never use or need most of what you have. Help someone else out and let it go! It has helped a bunch in clearing my head of the clutter also.
I donate a carload of stuff to Goodwill every month without fail. At almost 74, its a great thing to do, not just for others but for me too. At thia rate, Ill never be a minimalist but at least wont be a maximalist anymore.
@@mdsfo Lost my husband last year and he had SO much stuff. The garage has been a treasure trove of treasure AND "what the heck!" kind of stuff (he was hoarding his dad's garage hoard).. I've sold many vintage items, but I've also donated quite a bit. Already "gifted" my Star Wars collection to my son...he was to get it anyway...why not now? Started purging LONG time ago, but Goodwill got LOTS of plus size mens clothes around Christmas last year. I let the kids go through what I have to either sell or donate, then off it goes! It's not as painful as you think. I will never be a minimalist....but I'm feeling better!
I decluttered, donated today!😊
It looked like the lid was turned upside down in vase hope so
It's hard to say because an urn would have a cavity like that
Farfar and Farmor are Swedish and literally translate to father father and father mother (paternal grandfather and grandmother).
Sounds like theres a line around the building w/ donations ! ( the bell keeps dinging )
regarding the urn, someone could try putting a pillar candle in it.
It's my understanding that when you donate items, they don't stay in that store. They go to a centralized warehouse, and then the items are processed and sent to random storefronts. This might just be local to where I am... or it could be across-the-board, too.
That urn was interesting!
The jewelry casket will sell fairly fast lol
I donate back to my local humane society resale store, so it feels good to provide items for them to sell.
It's a good feeling to clear out those things you just will never get around to listing...we donate to salvation army or a local thrift that supports the service men/women
@@reginalaplante1001Another great place to donate to is Habitat for Humanity. They picked up almost all my yard sale leftovers this year.
The mugs that are printed “farfar” & “farmor” mean father’s father & father’s mother. I think they are either Swedish or Danish.
Or Norwegian
It's all 3🙂
I think the Goodwill you donate to maybe goes to other goodwill stores? They spread things over all local stores? Just a thought
Maybe Dagny swooped in and bought all the pigs😄
The brass seagulls I see in your picture corner. I'm interested and have no idea where to start to buy them 😞
Those are cool. Did she donate them?
You should have a yard sale and have sales for schools. Donate money to the Vets to get kids Christmas item. Maybe sponsor a camper that otherwise couldn't go. Maybe have a lot sale. One price for lot. One and done. I've tried to buy stuff from you as well. Have a pop-up with a set price were it would be easier for poor people like me to be able to have something we could afford. To many of us out here you are a celebrity. I've learned a lot from you. I am the one who speaks about your lion whose face is interesting. I'd love to buy some stuff. Maybe the beginning of school year to seel stuff. Then take that cash and donate to school for supplies
Did you hear about the amazing Murano find from a thrift shop? Sold for $10700.
Great to restart ownership and you never know a newbie to reselling may have a nitch to sell those
