Will Queen Camilla & Kate Middleton Wear New Tiaras for South African State Visit? | Tiara Tuesday

  • Will Queen Camilla and Princess Catherine (Kate Middleton) wear a new tiara from the extensive British royal vaults for the upcoming South African state visit?
While she was Queen, Elizabeth was pretty stingy with her tiara collection. Her lends were few and far between when compared to other royal families. But now Catherine and Camilla have a chance to put their own mark on the collection.
Will we see the Teck Crescent Tiara, Queen Adelaide Fringe Tiara or the Persian Turquoise Tiara? Who knows! But hopefully, the ladies take out something interesting from the royal vaults.
What do you want to see Catherine and Camilla wear?

The majority of people in the world do not put God first in all things, as he commanded. When this happens, the first thing we lose is our LIFE, the unique personality that comes with all the Heavenly gifts, talents, & character that God created each individual to BE (that he said is 'good'). How does one recognize those who have chosen the world over God? Like Satan, they've become a reflection, a shadow of who they actually are, they've chosen to believe in the characters that the world has made up (that are evil) & they begin to act out the visions of the world. Those who align themselves with God, his teachings, commands & judgments knows immediately who belongs to God & who belongs to the kingdom of the world. The only royalty in this universe is Jesus Christ. Countries like England spend their lives worshiping Satan in his kingdom of evil.

I think it would be a bit, “poor taste” (trying to be nice), to pull out something distinctly Russian (tho hopefully the war will end soon and it would be in perfectly “good” taste again) to wear since many are tied to Russia. And just for me, hair or no hair, Camilla has appeared drawn to tiaras flashier the better. There are plenty that are are beautiful, but more understated for her to pick that would be in much better taste (would LOVE to see her wear something in powder blue or silver with the Aquamarine Tiara (large but not all diamonds).

Haz-been mouthed off, saying, "What Megan wants, Megan gets!" The Queen responded with, "She'll get what I give her!" I loved that The Queen was so tough & strong! There are reasons why not all the Jewels are used, Brittany. There might be political reasons, pieces being far too fragile, for example the tiara that the then HRH Princess Elizabeth wore for her wedding fell apart and required mending before the wedding, or the jewels are deemed to be too valuable to be worn.

I like the style of the Turquoise Tiara, but I’m not a fan of the stone. With all the beautiful gemstones in the vault there has to be something a little more regal.
I do like the larger of the two Saphire tiaras. Catherine shouldn’t out shine Camilla, but this is a big step for Catherine. She needs to step it up for this occasion.
Camilla looks great in the larger lace tiaras. There’s a large ruby one she’s worn on a few occasions that looks great on her.
Having said this, it’s my understanding that either the tiara of Queen Mary’s coronation or the Queen Mother’s coronation tiara is being up dated. The base of the crown remains unchanged, but the arches & items above it will be gone. The Queen Mother made this change so she could use it.
Catherine’s choice is a well kept secret.

@JameeMiller First of all, Catherine is NOT a "princess." Referring to her as "Princess (her own name)" is insulting. She is Catherine, Princess of Wales (she is dependent on her husband for ALL her titles). I'm surprised you even have any interest in the Royals, since ALMOST EVERYTHING THEY DO is steeped in tradition and meaning. Those who SPIT on tradition and meaning are OUT (Diana not-Spencer and Markle come to mind; Harry is NOT a real Royal so he has no cache.)
As to the Fringe. THAT HAS BEEN RESERVED FOR ACTUAL BORN PRINCESSES! And, usually the FIRST BORN. The Queen wore it for her wedding. Beatrice wore it for HER wedding.
Catherine is NOT A ROYAL PRINCESS! Therefore, SINCE SHE IS A STICKLER FOR PROTOCOL AND TRADITION AND MEANING she will RESPECTFULLY save it for her DAUGHTER, Princess Charlotte. A FIRST BORN ROYAL PRINCESS!
You don't care about Royalty at all. You don't mind insulting Catherine at all.

The Queen was a wonderful lady: she knew that it's vulgar to show off your wealth and I think that she avoided using all the tiaras because of modesty, not stingyness. Also, don't forget, that some tiaras have been sold or inherited by other members of the royal family (like the tiara of princess Margaret that was sold by her chidren to cover the taxes about the inheritance, or the lotus flower tiara which seems to have been inherited by the Glouchesters or Kents, but then somehow found a way back to the eldest branch, to be worn by Catherine)

One of the reasons that the RF stopped wearing tiaras so often was because of an economic crisis many years ago. The Rf always wore Tiaras to the Royal Variety Performance, and everyone bar the QEQM stopped. That could start again but its' a case of judging the economic goings on and wearing them. At the moment it's down to two occasions but if there are dress up dinners elsewhere, maybe tiaras could be worn then also

A few fun facts about the ruby tiaras of the BRF. The Burmese tiara was made from the dismantled Nizam of Hyderabad tiara, a wedding gift to the queen that included a coordinating necklace that has been worn by the new Princess of Wales in recent years. The queen was in need of a ruby tiara because the Queen Mother refused to give the oriental circlet to the queen when she ascended to the throne. Too bad the design the queen choose is not the best. The oriental circlet tiara originally made for Queen Victoria was made with opals not rubies. Queen Alexandra replaced the opals with rubies because she believed (supposedly) wearing opals was bad luck unless it was your birthstone.
I wish the BRF would have more "tiara" events, and pass them out to all the royal ladies, the York girls, Lady Louise, etc. it seems like the the Swedish, Danish, and Dutch ladies wear tiaras all the time! Maybe at the coronation we'll get to see more of the tiara collection.

Facts are not "fun." They are informative IF TRUE! The "York" sisters are 34 and 32 and married to commoners and are mothers (Beatrice actually named her child "Sienna" which proves she is not serious about anything. Since Andrew is not a son of Prince Philip, he and his daughters are not considered to be part of the "slimmed down" monarchy. They are not helpful.
The new "senior" Royals are Charles, Camilla, William (the actual "Spare" since he was born in 1982; Harry was nothing then and is nothing now), Catherine, George, Charlotte and Louis. Also, Anne, Tim, Peter, Savannah and Isla; Zara, Mike, Mia, Lena, and Lucas. And, Edward, Sophie, Louise and James. That is 21 and MUCH LARGER than King George VI had when he ascended the Throne (he had himself, the Queen, Elizabeth and Margaret, for a total of 4. He often described his "court" as "we four.")
There is NO POINT in keeping "non-royals" like Andrew and his daughters, or Harry and his vile wife. The Queen BANISHED Harry and MM in 2018 and never spoke to them again. (If you believe they have had a "relationship" with the Royal family since 2018, that is YOU being gullible and falling for the LIES of MM's paid PR hacks. The Royals have been "done" with Harry since 2018.
Anyone who said they "needed to get back together" knows NOTHING of monarchy! Harry and MM committed TREASON (to get rid of William and his children so Harry could be king after Charles).
If you are SO DIM that you do not understand what "getting rid of William" means, then you are impossible to have a dialogue. Charles has ONE SON and heir and the Queen had an heir (Charles) and spare (William) all from her first husband, Prince Philip. Andrew and Harry had NO Philip DNA so they are OUT! They are NOT needed!

So… as a (somewhat) young American Anglophile, I know we don’t have any emotional aversion to any of them! Which I have read is why there are some tiaras that are never worn or seen. That their origin is (possibly for some) controversial. So QEII was super aware of and chose to steer clear of any item that could possibly been seen in a bad light. That said I do hope that both the new Queen consort and the beautiful PoW feel empowered, maybe not immediately, but in the not too distant future, to brush the dust off these beautiful works of art and let those gems shine! I feel like the late Queen was from a bygone era and most people will view them as simply what they are, incredibly beautiful works of art. I do greatly wish that the ladies of the British monarchy would follow the lead of other royal families and start to wear their tiaras more frequently. I know that the state of the global economy causes great alarm for most, however as long as they aren’t out buying new ones, I think that it is a travesty to let these beautiful pieces sit locked in vaults. Just my opinion, but if anyone who has clout in the BRF ever comes across this, please for the love of jewelry, ‘Let them Wear tiaras!’-sincerely a girl who loves tiaras

She then had that one mounted to The Girls of Greatbritain and Ireland to give it the look we know today. It's a set of 5 Art Deco Cartier bracelets that were given to the Queen Mother by King George VI when she was the newly married Duchess of York & he was still the Duke of York. Each bracelet features different gemstones: one with emeralds, one with sapphires, one with rubies & 2 with diamonds. The bandeau is made of 3 of those bracelets set on a frame. I think due to the current situation, ie recent death of QE II & the political situation in Ukraine, I don’t think we will see any tiaras worn recently by her or any with Russian connections. Sadly I sense Catherine doesn’t like large pieces of Royal jewellery which is such a shame.

You missed the Grenville kokoshnik, the one princess Eugenie wore on her wedding.

I didn’t include it as I don’t think that one’s necessarily in play. It may be a lifetime loan to Eugenie for any future events, though I don’t think she’ll have many opportunities. But it could be an option! Thanks for watching!!

Black tie events included tiaras when Diana was PoW but the dress code changed since then. There are now very few tiara events in the UK - maybe four per year (two state visits, the State Opening of Parliament and the annual Diplomatic Dinner). It’s ironic that the RF has so many tiaras at their disposal but so few opportunities to wear them. 😢

I think for this visit they will stick with their old tiaras just out of respect for Queen Elizabeth. Queen Camilla should bust out pieces never or rarely worn by Elizabeth.

Firstly the Queen was NEVER EVER stingy with the Royal Jewels, there are some pieces that were just not practical or too old to be worn. Secondly there is a strict hierarchy even in the jewels and who wears what. The Queen was always generous in letting members of the Royal family wearing pieces from the Royal Collection and her own personal pieces. Thirdly please please get the names and titles of the Royal family correct. There is no Queen Camilla nor will there ever be, her correct title isCamilla Queen Consort. Catherine isn’t Catherine Middleton as many still call her…. She hasn’t been that since she married Prince William in 2011. Her proper title now is the Princess of Wales.

    I love you Britney,
But I do not agree with you today
The Queen wore her tiaras with confidence and elegance, and she always looked very regal.
There are rules and regulations with each tiara, as well as personal choice,
Camilla always favours the queen mother’s jewellery because of King Charles devotion to his grand mama, so she will stay in that lane.
When Catherine becomes Queen, I think nothing will be off limit with her grace and elegance, she also adored the Queen so I can see her wearing all the QE11 favourite pieces out of respect for the affection they held each other in.
I feel you were just fixated with the items and missing the personal connection to each tiara.

The Princess of Wales would look fantastic in any tiara with her lovely long hair up or down, The Queen Consort suits a bigger tiara but like you I would like to see some of the older tiaras that we have not seen for such a long time if ever would be fabulous. Great video by the way.

What an interesting video. I had no idea of these tiara options. I think The Queen judged her tiara wearing quite well. I suspect that it wouldn’t go down too well with the British public if tiaras were flashed around a lot, apart from State occasions. It’s pretty clear that the Royals used to wear tiaras at many more occasions up to the 1960s/70s than they do nowadays.

You've forgotten the other working Royal princesses, I'm sure Queen Camilla will be generous an share the Royal jewels with Princesses Anne, Beatrice and Countess Shopie.

It depended on the origin of the tiara, whether The Queen would wear them or let others. If they came from Queen Mary and had Russian origins, you may never see them warn.

I don't see why not. Much of the jewels belong to the country and should be on display for the people, not be hidden on a whim.

Camilla wore the sapphire tiara around Christmas time l think. She also wore the necklace, earrings and maybe a bracelet. Paired with a long blue evening dress she looked pretty regal.

Good program. I agree with much of what you said. My personal favorite to bring back is the Strathmore Rose Tiara (needs repairs?) And I like the Teck Crescent. Does the Diamond and Sapphire Bandeau Tiara still exist?

Great video. I think because this is so recent after the Queen E2 passing, the Queen consort and Princess of Wales may not break out new grand Tiara or Jewelry. 😢
Perhaps not until the coronation, lest it appears they’ve been hasty in ‘raiding’ granny’s jewels
