- Episode 114: VF Day 5 | Climbing to the Grand Saint Bernard Pass
ℹ️ Many would consider the climb to Grand Saint Bernard Pass to be the most brutal hike of the Via Francigena. The trail climbs 3000 feet in 7-1/2 miles to the third highest road pass in all of Switzerland nestled between Mont Blanc to the west and Monte Rosa to the east. Snow storms are possible any day of the year, but luckily for us, it has been unseasonably warm and the winter’s snow has melted… almost. Climb to the top of the Alps with us!

cool

Did you make a reservation for accommodation at the st Bernard Pass?
Yes, we made all of our reservations in advance.
What month is it? Thinking about doing this walk.
We crossed the alps in early June. Enjoy the videos! Hope they help. 🙏🏼
Wow!! Loved your Maria Von Trapp imitation - but I think you looked more like Heidi 😊!
I wondered if you set up your accommodations ahead of arrival? Or did you just bank in them having room? Also, did you have to carry a pick axe just in case???
Lol - I’m definitely no Maria but I have her spirit with a little Heidi mixed in. Lol
We arranged all of our rooms in advance so we don’t have to worry about where we’re staying. It’s what works for us.
No pick axe, we had been following other pilgrims to know we’d be fine.
You should of filled you pack with those little Debbie like cakes. Today's trail continues to be so beautiful
It was one of our most breathtaking days for sure! And, mmmm, we should have! Lol
