Hi Maddie, from land-locked Austria. Another great shelling day. The number of bird carditas was amazing. The Arabian cowry was beautiful, as well as the checkered bonnet, and the discrepant venus. I always love all the cowries and wentletraps. I think my favorite today, however, was the gorgeous eel that was glaring at you from the rock pool. I spent most of today working on cleaning up my Australian shells. I should probably (finally) get them finished this week. I will need your videos to "tide" me over until I can take another shelling adventure of my own. Thanks so much for filming! ❤

As for over here, it's been raining cats and dogs, but the sunshine is out today. The shells this time were lovely; so much of the beach trips have been hit or miss with the shells lately that it was nice to get a win with that awesome Arabian Cowrie. The eel was wild; my friend tells me that it's probably called a Tortoiseshell Eel. Ohhh did you get all of you Australian shells cleaned up yet? I think you collected a jackpot amount from Hervey Bay while we were there - you'll have to tell me what kinds of crafts they end up going towards. As always, thank you so, so much for watching!~

Hi Maddie loved the Arabian cowrie. We found some beautiful shells in the rocks at Fingal bay. Some lovely very large military turban shells as big as my hand. Happy shelling 🐚😊

I must admit, they are terribly delicate and will break off their segments with very little pressure; I think I've broken at least a dozen by now 😅 do they wash up for you to find, or was that a purchase until you find your own? Yes, those erosas, labrolineatas, xanthodons, and gracilis cowries will become significantly lighter... though, the arabicas, caputserpentis, and asellus all stay about the same, as well as a few others 🤔 I'm not sure why some do that and other don't..I don't know why some glow with UV light when others don't either, so it's all about the certain shell species 😳 some zoilas get lighter as they dry out too! I like the Migrating Moon Shell so I looked it up. It seems to be Notocochlis gualtieriana. There aren't a lot of pictures of it online but enough to see one that resembles the one you found.

Nothing will ruin a beach wander for me like a scary dark cloud! 😳 love that Arabian! Live the snakeheads and the bird carditas. How would you describe the difference between an Arabian and a snakehead for those of us who only get to see them here?
G'day Reet 👋🏻💖 That dark cloud really put a damper at the end of an other bright and sunny day 🌞 but I'm thrilled that you enjoyed the shells while the sun was shining! Ohhh that's a great question!! The Snake-head Cowries and the Arabian Cowries do have similar appearances with both of them being dark brown with circular markings on top. There are a few differences between them; first is that the Arabians are much larger than the Snakes-heads - Arabians can be 2.5 inches to 4 inches long 😲 but Sneak-heads are always less than 2, but typically 1 inch. Next is that Snakes-heads will flange out around the base (like a muffin top?) but Arabians won't, though their bases will be thick, they won't spread out in the same way. Lastly, the Snakeheads will typically have white spots on top of the shell, while Arabians will have something that looks like an outline of spots, rather than actual spots 🤔 think of Arabians like a circular lace fabric, but Snakeheads picked out polka dots from the fabric store...not sure if that analogy worked 😂 and some Snake-heads like plain gold on top, but let's not think about that. Ahhh, I hope that helps a little for the question though 😉 and thank you so much for watching 🥰

Nothing will ruin a beach wander for me like a scary dark cloud! 😳 love that Arabian! Live the snakeheads and the bird carditas. How would you describe the difference between an Arabian and a snakehead for those of us who only get to see them here?
G'day Reet 👋🏻💖 That dark cloud really put a damper at the end of an other bright and sunny day 🌞 but I'm thrilled that you enjoyed the shells while the sun was shining!
Ohhh that's a great question!! The Snake-head Cowries and the Arabian Cowries do have similar appearances with both of them being dark brown with circular markings on top. There are a few differences between them; first is that the Arabians are much larger than the Snakes-heads - Arabians can be 2.5 inches to 4 inches long 😲 but Sneak-heads are always less than 2, but typically 1 inch. Next is that Snakes-heads will flange out around the base (like a muffin top?) but Arabians won't, though their bases will be thick, they won't spread out in the same way. Lastly, the Snakeheads will typically have white spots on top of the shell, while Arabians will have something that looks like an outline of spots, rather than actual spots 🤔 think of Arabians like a circular lace fabric, but Snakeheads picked out polka dots from the fabric store...not sure if that analogy worked 😂 and some Snake-heads like plain gold on top, but let's not think about that.
