Very clear and concise… as a masters student, it’s becoming clear our lectures fall into a habit of making the information more complicated than it needs to be, and providing a ton of useless information. If you implement a technology strategy successfully you are the strategy officer or the CEO. Sales executives job is to sell.
Hi Niall. Thank you for the amazing insights on the framework. It does get things in motion in a very structured manner. However, by the end of the video, it seemed that the solution/execution was more around revamping business strategy. Digital strategy was just byproduct of the diagnosis & analysis. Whereas a digital strategy would mean defining problem statements, refining them into business requirements, creating a roadmap & prioritization of tasks and finally execution & monitoring. Requesting your inputs.
@shikhar, I would argue that what you are expressing is a digitising plan, not a strategy and it's likely not transformational. The 'problem statement' you've mentioned assumes a problem can be solved without transforming the business. Without innovation and a change in the business model, the Fraymore business can't compete. No amount of technology, tasks and execution is going to solve that business problem without the business innovating in terms of products, services and business models.
Most businesses simply digitise their analogue businesses. The same thing happened in the industrial revolution, most businesses electrified their steam powered businesses. History shows, however, that the businesses that succeeded were those that went beyond simply swapping out steam for electricity and created a slightly more efficient version of what had gone before.
All businesses should digitise. Digitising brings operational efficiencies. Doing so, however, is neither strategic or transformational. Every business has become more operationally efficient using technology since the dawn of the industrial revolution. Why now, would it be considered 'transformational'? For me, transformation requires a wholesale review of everything we do in the context of new technology and customer habits.

No doubt you have good experience in digital marketing. However, what is explained is not technology transformation. It is technology adoption. Technology transformation is taking the business including it's model from one stage into another. A company should not put a lot of time on frameworks but rather develop a vision, and strategy to achieve the vision. The implementation of the strategy might follow certain methodology.
